Spain's 1st pre-Euro 2012 warmup game is against Serbia on May 26. And of course, Barça and Athletic will play the Copa final on May 25. Which means that if Del Bosque was to pick the same squad that he did for the recent friendly against Venezuela, he'd have only 12 players left to pick from...and 2 are goalkeepers Laughing

Casillas
Reina

Ramos
Arbeloa
Alba

Xabi Alonso
Cazorla
Silva
Navas

Mata
Negredo

Just shows how utterly inept the RFEF is to schedule the Copa del Rey final on that day. Morons. Doh

Why is the Copa so late? Surely they could have played it mid-week next week (and probably a few other Wednesdays from now until the end of the season)?

RAUL SELECCION? Wink

With Barcelona attacker David Villa facing a race against time to reach full fitness for the tournament in Ukraine and Poland, Raul's services may be needed, and Del Bosque has refused to rule out a potential inclusion.

"Raul has the merits to be in the squad," the trainer told reporters at a press conference.

"We will give a list on May 15, but this will not be the final squad, it will be a provisional group where some players will go to Euro 2012 and others will not.

"Everybody has a chance to be selected. Raul is playing at a good level. He has merits to be included, but there are other players also - we cannot bring them all. It is not about the best Spanish player, but Spanish football at large," he concluded.

Experimental squad for the friendlies against Serbia and South Korea:

Porteros: Casillas, Reina, De Gea.

Defensas: Albiol, Jordi Alba, Arbeloa, Domínguez, Monreal, Sergio Ramos, y Juanfran.

Centrocampistas: Isco, Xabi Alonso, Cazorla, Beñat, Javi García, Bruno Soriano, David Silva y Jesús Navas.

Delanteros: Adrián, Negredo y Soldado.

Lots of new faces but none of the players from Athletic, Barcelona, or Chelsea have been called due to the CL/Copa del Rey finals.

Apparently Villa wants to go to the Euros (and should be fit) but Barcelona do not want to let him go as they feel he will be risking an injury relapse.

Both ahead of Torres,I don't even know how it's debatable.

It's going to be like the last world cup all over again, with Del Bosque insisting on playing his lady boy for the first 4 or 5 games before pressure of the media forces him to drop him, this time we don't have Villa to bail us out.

For me Adrian has been a revelation this season. I'd be surprised if anyone (even at Atleti) thought he would do as well as did. At Depor he looked distinctly average. He has scored regularly for Spain's youth teams but didn't show a great deal in his all round play; but at Atleti, he has shown it all. Looks a very intelligent footballer, who has shown good vision, pace, dribbling ability and finishing. Very impressed with him.

I think at this point I would pick him, along with Soldado, Llorente and whoever looks better in training out of Torres/Pedro/Negredo. Muinain would be better off at the Olympics and U21's.

Adrian was brilliant last summer in the under 21's though,I remember watching him thinking he has a body of a 12 year old but boy can he play!

For me Adrian,Goldado,Llorente,Munian and Pedro.

If he doesn't pick Goldado I will be fuming, his last 2 games for Spain when he was given a chance he was brilliant.

Well I reckon Del Bosque will take the opportunity to pick an extra forward. There's also talk that Iraola is unfit, so maybe an extra defender?

Well, I really think Muniain should have been in the list. I think he could have given Del Bosque a really different option. I don't think priority should have been given to helping the U21s. Very surprised that Negredo has been selected over Soldado and Adrian. Navas hasn't really merited a call either but I guess there is a limited selection of wingers for a 'plan B'. Juanfran is included in the final list. A shame for Iraola who has been a part of the national team setup for the last several months but Juanfran has really had a very good second half of the season since moving to right back.
