    Juande Ramos vs. Martin Jol

Post by Deluded F*ck™ on Sun Feb 24, 2008 6:20 pm

Who would you prefer, fitness freak Ramos, or the Baseball cap wearing Tony Soprano look-a-like ?

Note that under Jol we took the lead against Arsenal at home every single time, and won not once.

Ramos has beaten them and Chelsea, and was *so close* to beating Man Ytd recently.

Spurs board are c**ts for sacking Jol, he would have turned it around with a bit of support. Ramos is getting all the applause for Jol's groundwork.

Yes, then he fucked up that 2 goal lead we had in the F.A cup by 1st subbing Berbatov, and then bringing on a 3rd central defender. Ale

Similer to the Grant v Mourinho thread, theres only going to be one winner...

However, Jol built a sucessfull squad and foundation, but was at times Tactical inept...Particularly in the bigger matches....

    Ramos Ofcourse Wins Hands down!

Jol was still a Great manager for us, for sure....

Jol wasnt brave enough. Ramos will change things in a game, he doesn't give a $h!t if he upsets some players. He is a winner Jol wasnt. And it shows in the players. They thought they would win and even leading with Jol they didn't think they would win.

He can do for Tottenham exactly what he did with Sevilla in no time at all. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if Tottenham won the uefa cup

True ts..but Arsenal and Chelsea dont give a f@ck about this cup.

Before Jol took over Spurs was Sperm...he turned it from in enfant into a teenager in puberty. Now we all know that's a difficult phase.

And what did Ramos....he was there at the party when the kid graduated from university...and claim that it was all his work!!

Lets credit Jol - he built most of this side and turned it round for us.

Ramos has fine tuned it - made us fitter and better defensively.

We hung on at the end. Lets not kid ourselves we rolld over Chelsea- Ramos went VERY defensive in the last half of extra time. IF chelsea had scored and gone onto win on penalties, then the sceanario would be very different.

Jol did geat, but was not regimental enough to get that final 10percent out of the players.

We've got that now under Ramos.

By the way- no one has mentioned Paul Robinson.

He played great today, and pulled off 2 top class saves in the second half.

Criticism when its due, but credit when its due.

Ramos also has used Jols players (Ramos hasn't really dipped into the Transfer market) and made us mentally stronger and physically fitter. Two achilles heels of ours and using players he's not accustomed to yet....and still leading us to cup glory, UEFA Cup etc...

Jol, built the foundation....He was great for us...But Ramos is the man that can take us to the next step...He will have all Pre-season and the transfer window to mould the team to what he wants...

Jol did what he had to do, get the quality of Spurs squad up to a level where it could compete like this. And for the most part he did that very well, and it only went so wrong at the end because the board stabbed him in the back.

But he was inexperienced, lacks ruthlessness and made some funny decisions that cast doubt on his tactical acumen. Ramos is clearly the better manager - more experience, better record, proven reputation. And with the same group of players he's doing quite a lot better than Jol was in the first half of the season.

As someone said - Jol built a foundation, Ramos fine tuned it.

That is exactly what Ramos did in sevilla where the foundation was already layed and he improved it.i had my doubts whether or not ramos could do well for tottenham. so far he has done well but im still not sure he can do what he did at sevilla because he doesnt have Sevillas sporting director who did the great transfers. so the test is still on.

Jol would not have beaten Arsenal, Jol would not have won the final. Ramos can work better with Comolli giving him players, whereas Jol didn't like that.

And I don't think Jol really would have turned things around...maybe got Spurs into the top 10 but definitely not any trophies. Spurs had stagnated a bit under him. Ramos gave them a kick up the backside that they needed.

So I'd say it's still slightly more credit for Ramos.
