    is Ronaldinho FINISHED for good

Post by Ä on Thu Mar 13, 2008 4:10 pm

the former superstar is not even a member of the Brazil squad anymore

Dunga has thrown him out in favour of the Milan teenager

is Ronnie finished just like Ronaldo , Owen and Rooney Question

or could a club like Werder Bremen revive him like they have done with so many other players ?

Unfortunately it seems that he has lost his pace, but he's still a wonderful passer of the ball, with fantastic trickery, vision and technique. I don't think can perform in a wide forward role as well anymore, but play him as a No 10, and he'd be great imo.

It's his wage demands. If he toned it down a bit I'm sure a whole host of clubs would be in for him. ok

Perhaps everytime he types Podolski, Ballack has added some kind of word editor that replaces it with Rooney, y'know, for a laugh? That must be the explanation

    affraid

Already? He's not even 30. He's just unfit IMO, mind you without the pace the trickery isn't as effective to get away from players.

I agree with the No.10 Idea, they should employ 1/2 DMF behind him giving him creative freedom.

No but Klose is, how many goals has he got in the terribly inferior Bundesliga this season?

A man that has only scored double figures like in two seasons anyway, perhaps he was never there to be 'finished' in the first place.

I agree with Calidad there. I believe he could do pretty well as a playmaker...He should return to South America and light up a bit the Libertadores...or he can just move to Milan and have Berlusconi(*knocks on wood*) and his friends at the Milan lab turn him into a fit player again

    I think he's finished.

Just shows to many signs of going the way Adriano has or Ronaldo mostly did. That hunger that desire is just not as great as it once was. He doesn't seem to be enjoying playing anymore.

he's clearly lost a bit of pace also.

New surroundings may seem he once regain the form that made him the best player in the world and at the time people said he could be the best ever....

    Just don't see it though.

I don't think he's going down the Ronaldo/Adriano path in terms of his life off the pitch, but is his fitness low? Yes. Is his motivation/hunger/desire low? Yes. Will a change of club suit him? I don't know...where can he really go where there won't be pressure on him?

    How? scratch

I said he's not getting into a crazy partying habit like them, but that doesn't mean he can't have a loss of motivation due to other reasons.

Wasn't it Ronaldinho leaving a party in the early hours in the boot of car to avoid the paparazzi?

Not sure...there have been rumours about it and plenty of sightings of him in Catalan clubs, but (so far) it's mild compared to Ronaldo and Adriano. In fact, I've heard worse stories about loads of London-based English players. So either he doesn't party much, or he has a great PR manager Very Happy

I dont think pressure is a problem for him. the increased pressure has been a result of him being lazy and lacking motivation. The evidence that he was sliding could be found back two seasons ago imo. a new setting is needed and a more centrel position. Milan could be a choice and they would take some of the fat away which isnt as big a problem imo but again a sign of hunger (ironically).

I disagree a bit with that...even when he has reasonable performances, fans want him to do non-stop tricks, and have 2 or 3 assists and goals every single match. That's the issue with him becoming a no. 10 - yeah, he may be able to do well there, but won't have the same flash impact as he did the first 2/3 seasons, and so people will still say he's lost it.

The demands came after he started to go down in form. and i dont think milans fans will be as demanding as long as he delivers.

Don't forget the burden of the price tag he'll take with him to his next club. Plus with a player like him it's not just your own fans you have to impress, it's all the Nike fanboys around the world.

I think its quite possible Ronnie is caught in a catch 22 situation, the pressure was to deliver for Barcelona which he did in superb fashion, then he let his focus go, and other players became the focal point, the emergence of Messi, and fans still having the pleasure to have and back if they wish players like Eto, Iniesta, Xavi and the dream that never materialised ... Henry.

Now Ronnie finds himself less integral to Barca, he probably has lost some confidence as well as physique, and as a result its quite likely to speculate hes lost some of his belief that made him so inspirational. I would argue his mentality is the key, and whether this has been addressed i don't know, but obviously to no avail if it has.

Being able to reignite Ronaldinho is one of the few benefits of bringing in Mourinho. But then again, would that really be much use if he turns him into just a regular winger who has to track back? Erm

Robben played with more freedom under Mourinho, nobody will know whether that was directed or improvised, but whilst he delivered Mourinho never dropped him, if Ronaldinho delivered in the way he can, his defensive responsibilities can be over looked, with a tighter and physically more competitive central midfield squad like at Chelsea, they can comprimise one attacking player arguably more so than the vast majority of other clubs in the world.
