Yep expect Erasmus to be an improvement on Vincken and Slory. The way I undertsand it he can play anywhere up front.

I prefer young players too, with De Cler, Makaay, Gio & Landzaat we already have enough experience.

Looks like Pauleta might be on his way to Sporting for a one-year contract. He's friends with Paulo Bento/Pedro Barbos (coach/football director) from their time together in the National side, and it seems Bento is willing to give Paulets his wish: play in the Portuguse top flight.

Reports claim both parties are interested and Pauleta would be on an incentive-based contract.

He would definitely bring plenty of experience (35 years), and with Liedson injured for the beginning of the season he could be usefull. Champions League football is something Pauleta is attracted to and as such an apparent incentive to sign on.

Was gonna mention that, but since it's not exactly a transfer..
Abola says it's a done deal.

What are your thoughts on it?

Once the deal is done, and they advise the length of the contract, people working with the coach, etc, I'll make an educated guest

If it's a 2 year deal, with a solid project, it may be a good choice
Young manager, let's see

RTP said the contract would be worth 1.5M Euros a year; not bad.

Quite a lot of good clubs were after him a few years ago.

Inter have put out a team with an average height of 6ft 1 before and now Roma are interested in this unit - Italians embracing modern football ?!

Goalscoring midfielder. Not sure about his passing range, never really impresses me but is pretty much box-to-box midfielder in my view. Is the highest scoring midfield this season and wants to move to EPL. Since he spoke of this desire he has been pretty Cr@p. Think he would do ok for Boro though, he has the talent.

Adequate technique (6/10); very good mentality; knows when to be in the box & how to score.

Cheers.

Sounds like a player we could do with really..only Downing scores goals in our midfield. Though would prefer someone who can pass aswell...but he cant be any worse than what we've got there to be honest.

It's not like he can't pass, he can be part of a midfield playing a passing game. He isn't the man though for defence splitting passes.

You can judge him on Wembley tonight if I'm not mistaken! He is young but already USA international... He had a great season at Heerenveen.

To be honest.... It would be better for him to stay another year in Fryslan or to move to a top club in the Netherlands....

He has been used in a more defensive midfield position (with less freedom to go forward) for the USA. If he plays there again, he might not be able to show what he's best at.

Fair enough..as long as he isnt as bad at passing as Boateng usually is then he'll be great Razz

Ognjen Vukojevic, aka The Croatian Gattuso, has signed for one of the new money clubs: Dynamo Kiev.

The fee is believed to be 8.5 million Euros.

Celtic were interested in him, but he's far too expensive for them.

Shaun Maloney, the ex-Celtic player, to Rangers is a rumour I've read about recently. He's homesick and Celtic aren't interested in re-signing him, so Rangers might offer him the opportunity to move back to Glasgow.

Attacking mid... Sporting born.

It's astonishing how quickly these guys move to pick up our players, especially considering how much time they spend telling us how $h!t they are.

What is within Celtic's/Rangers' price range?
I've always considered them to be richer clubs than ours, but can see both Porto or Benfica spending that kind of money.

Benfica recently spent 9 m Euros on Cardozo.

Celtic rarely spend over 5 million on a player

They have a huge crowd, but there is barely any TV money in scotland

Yep, specially Record, you know, the paper you say is not Sporting unofficial mouthpiece Rolling Eyes

And he is shite. Certain things will never change. Just because Record wants to invent headlines...

Let's see, so far Record has supposedly informed that Benfica wants:

Caneira
Carlos Martins
Albelda
R Rocha

Without counting the other 50 or so players that will show up on a daily basis on the front page.

Together with J Jesus, or Peseiro, or any other manager...wait, that one has been sorted already...

I'm still waiting for Ronaldinho or Messi to tell Record they have been contacted by someone from Benfica.

Classic Portuguese fud...

BTW, I hope your acesement of "pick up our players, especially considering how much time they spend telling us how $h!t they are." also aplies to Joao Pinto's,Bruno Caires and so on. After all, was that not the same thing you guys used to say about our players? Cool

Record? Oh yea, they do us great favours...always the first to try and sell our players away. Not a good point on that one. Nothing to do with Sporting that they claim you're after half the market...it sells papers to benfiquistas not us.

As for JVP, touch... I'm not sure people called him $h!t, just a little fucking c**t. He was good though.

Martisn isn't $h!t; he has plenty of attitude and mental problems, but there's no question he has the skill needed... but I personally don't think he'll want to come back to Portugal so soon after leaving - he's finally found himself a low pressure club where he can relax and stand out... returing to Portugal right now would be like jumping back into the fire... and he'd have the same anxiety at Benfica he did Sporting... he can't handle it... not right now at least.

Ale btw, hows things lamps?
