Bastos poised for Lyon switch

Lille president Michel Seydoux has revealed Michel Bastos is on the verge of completing a move to Lyon after they made an "exceptional offer".

Bastos has spent three seasons at Lille but only really burst onto the scene last campaign when he fired in 14 goals from midfield.

The Brazilian's impressive form attracted the attention of several clubs, in France and abroad, but Lyon's reported offer of 18million euros appears to have clinched the deal.

"We're close to an agreement with OL," Seydoux told L'Equipe TV. "This will be done in the next few days.

"I've opened a window for this player because we received an exceptional offer.

"After three years of good and loyal service, I want to see him continue his progression.

"But he will be absolutely the only departure."

Bastos has yet to win an international cap but Brazil coach Dunga revealed recently he is considering the 25-year-old for the future.

I am very pleased we got him. 18m is far too much, but he scored 14 goals and 12 assists so he is a good playmaker.

Porto have signed the Colombian striker Falcao (of Football Manager fame) from River Plate for 5.5m euros.

http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=reu-latamargentinafalcao&prov=reuters&type=lgns

IMO another very clever signing by Porto - they get a quality young player, for a cheap price (they have loads of cash from the sale of Lucho and Lisandro so the risk is almost nothing) and with potentially huge resale value.

Yep they are a bit similar but Bastos will score more goals and Ederson is a still young to replace Juninho. He needs more time.

Nothing new.

He has a buyout option of 30M€. He will only go if someone offers that amount and the papers talked about Barça or Chelsea.
Barça have their CB problem solved and Terry seems to be going nowhere so unless a new player comes he will stay here.

The closer to the start of the season we get, the more difficult any transfer will happen.

IMO even Lyon won´t have Cissokho unless they raise the offer. The problem now it is not the money but the sporting effects of the lost of first team players.

Then again the media today talk about a 15M€ offer plus 20% of a possible future sale so peraphs he will go too. 15M€ for 80% of a player that cost 300k sounds like a great deal.

Cissokho would of been playing in non-league in France do you think Lyon would of even consider of letting him train with them(instead he moved to Vitoria was only there for five months got his transfer to Porto and rated at 15m euros),WOW this is one of the many reasons why I love football.

Porto might be the most talented club at finding cheap players and selling them X times their bought. The funny thing is that they spotted this player playing for Guegnon while no one in France did see the talent. You did well on this one. French clubs are stupid, remember P.S.G selling Anelka to Arsenal for 700.000 pounds, then a few years buying him 27m pounds from Real, then selling him for 25m to whoever it was..... Same story when they bought Ronaldhino for 20m and sold him 24-25 to Barcelona only. These people don't know how to do business.

Lucas Neill’s agent, Paddy Dominguez, says his client will decide on his future within the next 48 hours.

The former West Ham captain has been closely linked with Turkish club Galatasaray but Dominguez says that he is mulling over other options.

"There are a couple of very big clubs who have also shown interest," said Dominguez.

"We are hoping in and around the next 48 hours that Lucas will make a decision."

So Lisandro-Guiza up front for Lyon. Quite a potent partnership on paper.

I think Atletico have no more money to spend, Villarreal decided their first choice pairing of Rossi-Llorente was good enough so only went for Nilmar as backup, and Sevilla probably could have gone in for him if the Luis Fabiano sale happened. But he's still there so Lyon pounced.
