He doesn't play so much DM as CM as opposed to CAM like he plays for Hereenveen. USA doesn't really have a good holding midfielder, so both CM's have to play semi-holding and can't attack as much as they'd like.

Sporting interested in Marius Niculae again? Shocked

He had great talent, but was made of glass. Yes, he had some horrible luck with that first injury, vecious tackle, but after that things didn't get much better and he seemed to bring things upon himself with poor conditioning.

Looked fit at the end, but by then his wages were too high for what he had produced and decided not to take a pay-cut, that was his choice.

He's apparently doing well in Scotland now and back in the Romania squad; I'm glad for him - didn't think it would ever happen - but I thought he was part of the past... one that didn't work out for us.

Could he be back? If he can stay fit, now that he's apparently re-found his form, it could be a good option. He knows the club and would fit into our system I think; a strong partner with good aerial ability for a smaller quicker striker.

Attacking mid... Sporting born.

It's astonishing how quickly these guys move to pick up our players, especially considering how much time they spend telling us how $h!t they are.

Yep, specially Record, you know, the paper you say is not Sporting unofficial mouthpiece Rolling Eyes

And he is shite. Certain things will never change. Just because Record wants to invent headlines...

Let's see, so far Record has supposedly informed that Benfica wants:

Caneira
Carlos Martins
Albelda
R Rocha

Without counting the other 50 or so players that will show up on a daily basis on the front page.

Together with J Jesus, or Peseiro, or any other manager...wait, that one has been sorted already...

I'm still waiting for Ronaldinho or Messi to tell Record they have been contacted by someone from Benfica.

Classic Portuguese fud...

BTW, I hope your acesement of "pick up our players, especially considering how much time they spend telling us how $h!t they are." also aplies to Joao Pinto's,Bruno Caires and so on. After all, was that not the same thing you guys used to say about our players? Cool

Record? Oh yea, they do us great favours...always the first to try and sell our players away. Not a good point on that one. Nothing to do with Sporting that they claim you're after half the market...it sells papers to benfiquistas not us.

As for JVP, touch... I'm not sure people called him $h!t, just a little fucking c**t. He was good though.

Martisn isn't $h!t; he has plenty of attitude and mental problems, but there's no question he has the skill needed... but I personally don't think he'll want to come back to Portugal so soon after leaving - he's finally found himself a low pressure club where he can relax and stand out... returing to Portugal right now would be like jumping back into the fire... and he'd have the same anxiety at Benfica he did Sporting... he can't handle it... not right now at least.

Ale btw, hows things lamps?

Lot's of work m8. Waiting for Euro to start.

Let's all boycott Heerenveen They want to rob right back Darryl Janmaat from Den Haag!

SC Heerenveen maakt interesse in Janmaat concreet
27/05/2008 16:33

Patrick Berger is on his way back to Sparta Prague after penning a two-year contract following his release from Aston Villa.

The former Czech Republic international began his career with Sparta as a youngster, before signing his first professional contract with city rivals Slavia in 1991.
He has spent the last 12 years in England, taking in spells at Liverpool, Portsmouth, Villa and Stoke.
He was released from his contract at Villa at the end of the 2007/08 season, and despite offers to remain in the Premier League has decided to return to this homeland.
"I wanted to come back at some point anyway and so I decided the time was right now," he told iDnes.
Berger admits that he was tempted to join up with former Liverpool team-mate, and long-time friend, Vladimir Smicer at Slavia, but was impressed by Sparta's determination to push a deal through.
"I did not receive an offer from Slavia and we came to terms with Sparta very quickly," he said.
"I think I have made the right decision.
"And Smicer? He told me he was looking forward to playing against me. He took it as a sportsman."
Sparta president Jozef Chovanec was also delighted to see the 34-year-old back at AXA Arena.
"Everyone is asking - Why Berger?" he said.
"He grew up at Sparta and he still has considerable talent.
"He is a player of European quality who can be an inspiration to other players."

Wetzel voor drie jaar vast aan ADO

Donderdag 29 Mei 2008 16:00

Feyenoord strikt Zuid-Afrikaanse belofte Erasmus

29/05/2008 15:47

And if that's not enough.... His boys name is:

KERMIT....! Shocked

Paulo Assuno, the Porto DM, has walked away from Porto by unilateral accord.

The influential DM had some problems with a group of Porto fans who tried to pressure him into signing a new deal with the club. Don't know if this has anything to do with his decision to leave, but if he had problems before I'm sure they're worse now.

I wonder who they'll bring in to replace him as he was one of their most important figures in the starting 11.

Hlder Postiga signs for Sporting!?! Shocked

Woke up to this news... not sure where it came from, but it's an official statement.

I guess this means no Pauleta. I had considered this signing in the past, but not at all right now nor did I think the club was considering it either.

Contract was signed this morning before heading to the Palace in Belm, he's already worn the team colours.
