    Top selling football shirts

Post by fcb on Fri May 30, 2008 1:30 pm

Found an interesting set of stats at the bottom of this (also fairly interesting) article:
    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/international/article4029732.ece

Top-selling football shirts (according to Subside Sports, so it's obviously a tad flawed since clubs' own official sales aren't taken into account, I don't think):

    1, Fernando Torres, Liverpool
    2, Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United
    3, Lionel Messi, Barcelona
    4, Wayne Rooney, Manchester United
5, David Beckham, Los Angeles Galaxy
    6, Nicolas Anelka, Chelsea
    7, Steven Gerrard, Liverpool
    8. Cesc Fàbregas, Arsenal
    9, Francesco Totti, Roma
    10, El Niño (Torres again)

    Anelka? scratch

    for what period?

I guess if it's 2008 then Anelka's inclusion is due to him being Chelsea's only big money super sexy marquee player this season.

I'm in hong kong right now, and I can get you all of those shirts for a fiver.

I've bought myself a gerrard and a lampard shirt, they both do the same job, but the gerrard one seems a lot better Wink

you can get a blank one and have punty put on it, but that would probably cost more than the shirt Wink

Surprised there's not a Celtic player in there. Those sad c**ts must have 10 Celtic tops each either that or they wear the same one every.single.day.

Quaresma's the only named jersey I bought.

Have an Adidas Sporting, Reebok Sporting Quaresma, and then 3 Portugal jerseys... no names.

I've noticed English fans usually get names on the back. Any particular reason?

I guess I could get a named jersey, but without it I feel like I'm supporting the whole squad and not just that one player. I'm pretty sure Portugal's Ronaldo 7 jersey is going to be huge though...

All the jerseys I buy have players names on them. I'm a bit of a collector.

I've seen some people that do that; pretty much every foreign team a Portuguese player has played for...with their name on the jersey of course.

Yeah I have about 30 jerseys. First ever jersey my dad bought me was Delvecchio's Roma one when I was 4yo. Most recent one is De Rossi's 16 jersey, Kappa Home shirt.

I'm actually wearing Pires' yellow 03/04 Nike away jersey as I type. Biggrin
