why do you insist on making fun of Frings ????? scratch

he says that Löw chucked him out because his "kind" /"type" was no longer wanted

implying that Löw really wanted YES-sayers

which is 100% right

Löw threw Frings out BEFORE the "Leistungstest"

ie

despite pretending that "performance levels" were the SOLE selection criteria, he refused to even invite Frings to the great "Mannschaft fitness test"

the fear that Frings would pass with flying colours was too great

yet NONE of you cried FOUL Grr

by the way Helmer now said that Löw was making a mockery of the Leistungsprinziep

in HIS days you had to be a REGULAR at your club AT LEAST

all of that was gone now Ale

--------

it will be interesting to see how the Zwanziger story works out

the accusations vs him are getting stronger and it's difficult to see what he can do in his defence

http://sportbild.bild.de/SPORT/fussball/2010/03/10/sport-bild-exklusiv-manfred-amerell/dfb-praesident-theo-zwanziger-geht-ueber-leichen.html

------

interesting rumour, now that Labbadia is under fire at HSV

HSV are so fucked

Laugh

ah

and Boateng and Trochowski are apparently thinking about leaving the club

both are NOT regulars at HSV anymore and yet Löw seems to play at least the black boy

so much for the "Leistungsprinziep"

Yeah, read about the Labaddia thing.
It seems some players have problems with him. Wasn't that the case in Leverkusen, too? Labaddia is a Loddar clone imo Smile
He may be a bit more quiet esp in the media, but he probably has problems with guiding players.

Otto, I would advice you to watch the first half of Bremen v Stuttgart (I did that in the meantime) then you will hopefully understand why Frings was not invited to the performance test.

Re Leistungsprinzip

I really get tired of this discussion.

Löw never defined his selection policy in detail, hence no-one of us can clearly state and understand what attributes of a player contribute to his selection.

As far as I can remember, no Bundestrainer only ever picked the current best performing crop of Bundesliga player. Why do we expect Löw to do it then? If you consider how inconsistent many of the players are then we would have to make changes to the starting line-up of the Mannschaft on almost a weekly basis, which is total nonesense and would take us nowhere.

Löw simply has to hold onto the hard core of his team, even if they are not always performing well in the league.

Well, based on the first half againt Stuttgart none of the Bremen players deserved to be invited to the performance test. Or what do you mean exactly?

"Löw to HSV" is the funniest rumour I have heard in a long time Laugh

but it's REALISTIC

it's the MOST

METROSEXUAL CLUB in Germany

Laugh

as for Labbadia: the team and manager already had a crisis meeting

the accusations vs him were EXACTLY the same as at Leverkusen

Laugh

Labbadia is a c**t

+

terrible at man-management

a Klinsi clone, really

IMHO, there is a 66% chance HSV will replace him at the end of the season

good news for German football though

Labbadia AND Slomka will be out Ale

I do NOT know where Loddar comes into this

he is quite GOOD at man-management, it seems

------

as for the Leistungsprinzip

the only reason we ever talk about it is that LÖW made such a fuss about it

effectively

ALL managers ADHERE to it

simply because they want to win, and in order to do so, they select the players they think are most likely to help them do it

Löw then seemed to make a SCIENCE of it, with his Leistungstests...

in REALITY, there are VERY good reasons for sticking with EXPERIENCED players even if they are going through a rough patch at club level

Löw was pissed off with Metze and Frings for letting him down in 2008 and therefore said

NEVER AGAIN

NOBODY can live off a BONUS

and NOW, he does the same with Klose, Poldi, and in terms of squad selection Hitz, Troch,...

why ZERO experience, current HSV-SUB Boateng is playing

or rather

according to which criteria

is ANYBODY's guess though

Doh

when Frings looks at this "performance selection chaos" he has EVERY right to be ANGRY

-------

Löw now said that he wanted to stick with Ballack and Schweini for the WC

http://sportbild.bild.de/SPORT/fussball-wm-2010/2010/03/10/wm-alarm/jetzt-macht-joachim-loew-ernst.html

Doh

a HUGE mistake

the two will need MANY games to gel

time we do not have

this will also waste Ballack attacking wise

and open a gap on the right that Müller or Kroos CANNOT fill

by the way

Ballack seemed to be unhappy about the central partnership with Schweini AFTER the Gaucho game

he was also UNHAPPY with it BEFORE the game

when journalists asked him about Löw's new plan, Ballack said he was not aware of it and , if, true, would certainly have to DISCUSS it with Löw

ie

the days when BAllack was PRIVY to Löw's plans and had ANY influence are OVER Doh

Doh

Özil is an automatic choice as well

Doh

bearing in mind his current form, lack of experience, and number of games he will play until the WC

this is MADNESS

Yikes

we might as well write THIS WC off

oh

and Maradona thinks Argentina were superior to Germany in EVERY WAY

and he does not consider Germany to be a WC contender

we are back to Ribbeck days

ie

we are a GLOBAL laughing stock

Poldi scored three goals in the last two matches for Germany ahead of the Argie match. How can anyone argue against his selection based on the Leistungsprinzip? Seriously?!

@chrissi

I meant that Frings is no longer suitable to Germany's midfield. In the first half against Stuttgart your midfield was totally over-run and destroyed, mainly due to the fact that your DMs (Frings and Borowski) are too slow. Frings needs a pacy DM/CM to partner him. Ballack is no such player.

Another point is his passing accuracy. His Zweikampfervehalten is good, always has been, but he gives away the ball too cheaply. Say what you like about Hitzlsperger but his passing accuracy - potentially - is a class above that of Frings (that for me seems to be the main reason why Löw favours him over Frings).

Of course its not for sure and I am on the side of giving Loddar a chance at any Buli Team to see what he has learned so far, but I fear the worst.

Wörns thinks Leistung is no longer a selection criteria for Löw

I have been ridiculed recently for pointing out that Jens Lehmann and Britney Spears are the two greatest human beings alive, but that does not mean he is still the best option in goal for Germany. Hm, you might as well recommend Rost. We still just don't have a Torwartkrise.

Well, I've had the argument about Ballack as a 6/CM or an 8/10 many times with the likes of Pierre, I just don't agree. Not his best position any more from a mobility/playmaking point of view. If he's in good shape (a big hmmmm at the moment) as cenbtral and strategic as possible.

Well, unfortunately in the real world there's no way a Bundestrainer should be reflexively chopping and changing according to every fluctuation of form just because his favourite (and, I might add, that of many of us) happens not to be the same as your favourite. We have to hope that he shapes up (there's plenty of time, there's plenty of top form to get back to – did you even watch the critical games against Russia??), and if you remember last time the situation was rather worse, with Jens on the bench at Arsenal.

Do you seriously think your kneejerk approach would work at this level? It would probably be bad form I guess to point out that it was you who suggested Enke's suicide might have something to do with his temporary absence from one national squad Doh Sad

NEITER Khedira NOR Schweini

is a proper DMC

both are number 8s

in which case, Ballack would be the ONLY PROPER 6

if, indeed

you decide to WASTE him there

so who would be the SECOND 6, allez ?

the back-up, in case Ballack gets injured or gets a tactical red as against South Korea ?

you want to play against Brazil with Schweini alongside Khedira ? Doh

--------

why kneejerk-reaction ?

I have said for AGES that Adler should be nowhere near your squad, let along the team

benefit of-foresight, is, what they call that

and I WAS RIGHT

I will say what I have said for years

the GOALIE HAS to HAVE EXPERIENCE at INTERNATIONAL LEVEL

as Lehmann just said and even Adler , bizarrely, implied, in a recent double-interview in Sportbild with Kahn

Adler said that playing in the CL was a COMPLETELY different proposition to Bundesliga games

the opposition was BETTER

and you, ie the GOALIE, got better as a result

the interview was astonishing because if INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE and EXPOSURE is so IMPORTANT in his view

then how does he explain that he himself should guard our goal when he has next to ZERO Intertional experience, whereas the likes of Wiese, Butt, Lehmann, Rost have A LOT

either Adler is remarkably STUPID

or just remarkably HONEST AND STUPID

------

personally

I would pick Wiese or Lehmann NOW

and STICK with him through thick and thin

So basically you'd have a glorious choice of Lehmann or Butt. Fucking brilliant. Good luck with that, as they say.

I just don't get the point of this kind of dogmatism. Which CL hero are England supposed to choose, by that logic? Almunia? Laugh

Seriously, these agendas and dogmatism get tiresome in the end. What did you think of Adler's performances against Russia, home and away, by the way – assuming you watched them? Why, dammit, are you so selective in whose errors to criticize?

I'd take as many DMs as humanly possible. Were Rolfes to be available then Schweini Ballack Khedira might be all there's room for – otherwise I'd consider the likes of Hummels, who can maybe play there. Not sure about Gentner, Hitz, Weis etc. Sure Frings should be in the running if say Hitz is (which he doesn't seem to be at the moment) but there are good (footballing as well as team spirit) reasons why he's out in the cold, as the likes of Häschen have explained. It's not about being a "pure DM" – did Frings himself ever use to be that anyway before he declined? – you need some dynamism there even in a 4-2-3-1, and that's partly why the likes of Jones were so uninspiring.

Wiese and Lehmann are just as prone to howlers as Adler.

If at all (BIG IF), then Adler should be replaced by Neuer. bounce

Ale

Ballack, Schweini, Khedria and one of Rolfes, Genter or Träsch would be my choices.

Or Kehl who made a brilliant comeback from injury. Too bad that Löw doesn't rate him. He's actually someone who combines skill, work rate, experience and leadership (and he wouldn't moan if he wasn't in the first team).

Hummels, I am afraid, is too inexperienced yet for that role. He's also a much, much, much better central defender than he is a DM.

Agree totally on Neuer as the replacement, if any. Beckenbauer really is a disgrace with those remarks.

I like this from Rudi – would be worth adding to the Given debate among the PL fans: „Er ist genau der Torwart, den Deutschland braucht und zu Recht die Nummer eins, weil er ab und an etwas riskiert.

And I like this from Uli Stein:

"Das ist eine Position, von der er nichts versteht. Man kennt doch den Franz: Bei Torhütern lag er als Trainer schon häufig daneben", sagte Stein mit Blick zurück auf die WM 1986 in Mexiko, bei der ihm Beckenbauer Toni Schumacher vor die Nase gesetzt und Stein nach dessen Kritik ("Suppenkasper!") nach Hause geschickt hatte.

Kuranyi is OUT for GOOD, despite being on fire , having experience and having apologised a MILLION times

Troch is off the boil, yet still in the squad

Hitz is in free-fall, yet still in the squad

Frings is now the best DMC we have, yet out

Kehl is not even considered

ditto in-form-Marin

Hummels, our best central defender is not even part of the squad

yet Boateng, who does not even make the HSV first-eleven , is a Mannschaft-starter

and why does NOBODY talk about the ommission of MANUEL Friedrich, who should maybe even start ?

yet ANNE Friedrich, currently in free-fall at Hertha, and considered DISPENSABLE by Ballack is there

Adler is the number ONE, when he should not even be in the SQUAD

and Wiese, Lehmann, Butt, Rost NEVER get a phone-call by Köpke

instead the two INTERNS do

and what about Hinkel ?

and that is without even restarting the debate about the current merits of Borowski, Nowotny and Wörns

It was a bad howler owing to lack of communication. Enough said. I read that article. Not sure it's my favourite paper but yeah, the newspaper site I look at most often.

Your comments aren't even true, and your final remarks confirm that they aren't to be taken, or even meant, seriously. I agree that the right young defenders aren't even in the mix when they should be; you can't say the same about the right young midfielders. It's a problem, yes, that the "Stammspieler" are not currently the ones in form – well what's to be done? Kick them all out and just play the guys in form? It was you who was saying "time to stop experimenting" (with Müller, Khedira etc) dammit.

You just can't live or work like that, sacking everyone the whole time and playing those in form, or for that matter ignoring the form guys and insisting purely on your "Stamm". It has to be a blend. We'd all do it differently, but I don't think Jogi is a million miles away. Obviously with your preference for shit-on-a-stick players your prejudices are diametrically opposed to Löw's, but you would do well to at least reckognize where he's coming from.

Please, Haeschen, don't quote this this whatever it is here. Grr

With regard to Firlefranz: Neuer is supposed to become Bayern's next goalie. It's clear Bayern want him as the next German No. 1 as well.

Tough times ahead for the young Bundesadler.
