Cesc Fábregas, Fernando Torres Rolling Eyes and Javier Portillo will be representing Spain in a free-kick competition over in Houston on the 5th July

The other participants will be Ronaldinho, Deco, Del Piero, Juninho Pernambucano, Harry Kewell, Pires, Tymoschuk, Luis Fabiano, Borgetti, Altidore, Robinho, Forlán, Palermo, Podolski, Ali Muntari, Drogba, Adebayor, Adu, Riquelme, Lee Chun Soo, Lionel Messi, Lua Lua, Marcelo, Verón, Nakamura, Henry, Ibrahimovic and Ljungberg.

The goalies will be Kasey Keller, Mondragon, Friedel, Toldo (Inter de Milán), Gomes, Dragovic, Oliver Kahn and David James (Portsmouth).

I think Yildirim won a similar event a couple of years ago.

It'll be a young gun for my money, whilst players like Delp and Juninho have excellent strikes, i can't see them taking this too seriously, whereas some of the younger players..... well we all know how youthfullness exuberates competitiveness and excitement.

van Persie >>> Cesc, Torres, Portillo, Ronaldinho, Deco, Del Piero, Juninho Pernambucano, Harry Kewell, Pires, Tymoschuk, Luis Fabiano, Borgetti, Altidore, Robinho, Forlán, Palermo, Podolski, Ali Muntari, Drogba, Adebayor, Adu, Riquelme, Lee Chun Soo, Lionel Messi, Lua Lua, Marcelo, Verón, Nakamura, Henry, Ibrahimovic and Ljungberg.

I'm going for Kewell, with no club he'll be looking to impress. Also Bobby Pires is no slouch. Ale

surely this must be wrong...it can't possibly be Martin Palermo...He's record is based purely on some sort of divine luck...I mean I have seen him live slip before reaching the ball and kicking it with both feet to finally score...twice!

IMO the ones with an actual chance of winning are: Juninho, Nakamura, Ronaldinho, Riquelme.

Most of them seem to be average takers who score once in a while e.g. Drogba, Luis Fabiano, Lee Chun Soo, Forlan.

Rafael Marquez won the competition (scoring in the final playoff against Toldo), and his Mexican teammate Jared Borgetti was runner-up (his kicks in the playoff were saved by David James).

Each player had 8 attempts in the first round. Messi didn't score any, and neither did Ronaldinho. 4 of his hit the wall and the other 4 weren't even on target.

Best player in the first round was Chinese Shen Shi.

Deco, Torres, and Del Piero didn't show up.

Even at their respective ages Pi-air, Mihailovic and Ronald Koeman would be able to beat most of the mentioned "specialists" Ale
