Effenberg thinks Bayern "machten sich zu klein gegen Barca", ie displayed ZERO confidence and build up the Catalans unnecessarily

a CLEAR DIG at Lahm and the other "REALISTEN"

he also thinks the teams was already playing AGAINST KLINSI

http://www.sport1.de/de/fussball/fussball_championsleague/artikel_110572.html

in a previous interview DEMICHILIS confirmed what I had ALWAYS said

"our Bayern team/squad was nearly on a level in terms of quality with Barca"

What I don't understand is, if they were already playing against Klinsmann back then, why did they, after they got thrashed by Barca in the first leg, went on to beat Frankfurt at home?

Even if they had drawn this match, I think Klinsmann would have seen himself kicked out of Säbener Straße, but they comfortably won and saved his ass.

Why would you do this when you are playing against your coach?

scratch

Effenberg is right on the rest though. Van Bommel's comments in particular were not worthy of a Bayern captain.

Spiegel Interview with Raab

Zhirkov to Bayern is no more, or? Think van Gaal will get a left fullback anyway & move Lahm to the right.

I am 80% sure now that Ribery will leave, probably also Toni, unless he insists on staying because nobody else can match his salary

once Ribery is gone Bayern will announce the signing of Sneijder

80% chance of these three moves happening

According to Hoeneß they are only looking for a RB and will leave their left side with Lahm and Ribéry unchanged.

Tbh, I don't think Görlitz is much of an improvement to Lell. You actually would need a RB plus someone who can play on both sides. But after you already spent 35m on Gomez I doubt Hoeneß has money left for two FBs.

What do you think of the "Neuer oder keiner" story? Sounds like Hoeneß won't sign a new keeper unless Neuer wants to join you, which will leave you with Rensing and Butt in goal again.

Always bad to put all your money on one horse. If it comes to that, I hope van Gaal goes with Butt. Rensing just gives me no confidence at all and I don't see that changing. I would try to get Frey to join us.

Görlitz is quite a bit better than lell, in my opinion.

We still need somebody for central/right midfield. Otherwise it'll be all happening on the left again. Too predictable.

regarding Leverkusen and Labbadia, their manager

it seems his job is on the line at Bayer

we have never really talked about him and his "revolution", but there seem to be very strong similarities to Klinsi

apparently, the Leverkusen players have fallen out of love with Labbadia and voted 20 vs 4 to get rid of him

Yikes

since we have so little internal information about Bayer it's difficult to get a clear picture of what's going on

seems as if LAbbadia is losing support within the team and the board (Völler and Co) back the team

more managers should also be sporting directors in the Bundesliga , I guess

this is just ridiculous

the team is phlegmatic, goalie Adler is angry and wants to "wake them up" by criticising them PUBLICLY and gets encouraged to do so by Labbadia

Adler then goes public and Völler IMMEDIATELY ticks him off via the media for going public Yikes

it's a mess: considering LAbbadia now has a go at Völler's chief confidant, it seems inevitable he has to go after today's game

interesting interview with the good man

Blame Heynckes :

Heynckes: 'Ik heb Van Gaal aanbevolen bij Bayern'

02/06/2009 12:45

apparently , the Board Members + Nerlinger and maybe even + Beckenbauer were all asked to hand in two names (one experienced , the other not)

ALL of them wanted van Gaal Smile

according to Hoeness

the truth is, it might actually work with van Gaal IF Ribery and Toni leave

when you read the interviews with the players now, you discover that are THIRSTING FOR TACTICAL INPUT

this group of Bayern players will be VERY WELL BEHVAED

they HAVE to sell Ribery though, otherwise it will be ANARCHY

now Hitzfeld :

http://www.welt.de/sport/fussball/article3840926/Bei-zu-vielen-Bundesligisten-regiert-die-Panik.html

criticises Klinsi for thinking he had two years at Bayern, for having too many assistants and for underestimating the importance of speaking German (which is weird , because he NEVER enforced German either)

-------------

part of the Lahm interview

he thinks Bayern only played ONE GOOD MATCH under Klinsi apart from the game against Bochum, whereas all five games under Heynckes were good

Laugh

complete bullshit , of course, which is TOO harsh on some of the Klinsi games and too positive on some of the Heynckes games

when it comes from people "close to Bayern" it's a form of "Vergangenheitsbewältigung"

What do you mean by "going back to good old German football basics"?

Returning to the football that the Mannschaft for example displayed under Vogts, Ribbeck and to an extent Völler? Football with little concept and merely based on "Kämpfen"?

Remember that as national coach Klinsmann's idea was to combine physical strength and will power with style. That's no innovation, but was the plan to return to the football of the 70/80s - the plan to return to the "good old German football basics" in fact.

It was Klinsmann who criticised the decline of the physical superiority of the Mannschaft over the past two decades and brought the Deuserband back into training, which was first successfully applied 20 years ago and since then forgotten.

It was also under Klinsmann when we finally got rid of the Ribbeck/Völler'sche Angsthasenfußball and returned to a more dominant style of play ("vom Reagieren hin zum Agieren").

And if there's one player of the last two decades who understood the importance of will power and who merely lived of his work ethic rather than his technique, then it was Jürgen "Verstolperer" Klinsmann.

No question that he has his flaws (in his man-management, his constant grinning, his tactical naivety, etc.), but you really have to explain to me why his approach to football needs to be fought against, because to me it sounds about right... scratch

---

PS Löw and Klinsmann cannot be easily subsumed under the same philosophy, Otto. You only have to watch us play. The intended style of play is similar, but Löw is a lot more idealistic/dogmatic ("don't foul", obsessed by pace and by scoring from open play, etc.) and analytical (e.g. squad selection based on database information) in his philosophy.

Touché.

I am sure though that Leverkusen won't win the league. If Hamburg escapes another mass-injury streak then Leverkusen won't even make the qualification for a CL spot.

People then will realize that Heynckes is no better than Labbadia.
