I dont think signing Bentley was the problem..signing Bentley, Modric and Dos Santos instead of signing maybe just one defensive midfielder was the problem.

Yes, you can add that little clique they've got going with Modric and Bentley further causing problems in the team. Ramos MUST do what Autuori did at Sporting Cristal a few years ago and remove the dead wood. Although the money spent in these Spurs players is ridiculous. What a waste.

Comolli has got to go pronto, and a few players need to go with him. <Ale>

And if you factor in the lack of familiarity due to signings being made so late, then I don't see how we'd be better off under anyone else.

What not even someone who has actually bothered to learn the language?

I'm not Bentley's biggest fan but its daft not to play him as he has proved he can get end product in the EPL.

Ramos doesnt even seem to be drilling any confidence into the team though..get Hoddle back or something. Bringing back the old boys works for Newcastle.

Only if he has a striker who can put it into the back of the net (i.e not Darren Bent)

He has done a few interviews in English Pierre, he's been fluent for a while now, he just doesn't want to become Ranieri mk.II with the press.

Bentley does well when he's got players to aim for. With Pav not fit, all he's got is Darren "I run in straight lines" Bent.

You say the players should fight, but there's not any natural fighters there.

He should get them more fired up then..everyone has a bit of fight in them.

Jamie "Cattermole" O'hara will fight..Woodgate will fight..Dawson obviously likes a bit of a fight looking at that tackle the other day. Jenas if given a kick up the arse could be up for it. Zokora too, he probably got regular beatings as a child, tell him that the opposition players are his Dad or those who he hates the most ala the Waterboy.

I reckon Hutton could get fired up easily enough too. The rest maybe not but they are at least good enough to not be bottom of the league.

I assumed the club would buy players with said mentality. Look at the difference Davids & Naybet made for example.

Things are great Otto! Glad to see you again since Euro '08 day before the Final I think. Biggrin

Brasil look to be the obvious choice I agree, but Argentina may have something to say IF they get Carlos Bianchi to replace Basile. Shocked

I'm enjoying watching Bundesliga teams kick ass in this exciting UEFA Cup you know the Schalkes, the Hamburgs. Good to know you're back Otto. Biggrin <Ale>

I agree. Ramos shares some of the blame. For instance, he still doesn't speak the language. I still don't speak English, and I've been in this English speaking country for over 20 years...but at least I tried from the get go. It took me a whole month to establish some sort of prolonged communication. Pussy was a big motivation factor though. Biggrin

You're right, Ramos didn't take to the language the way Scolari did. Big Phil was right there in front of the cameras "hello...everyone...I come here to work hard....for CHEL-SEE-AH...and...I will try to win things for CHEL-SEE-AH". Big Phil was on top of things from the get go. Ramos didn't at least in the language aspect. <Ale>

I'm off to the Bolton game this weekend.

Will the pain ever end? Will this be the game that we finally win and turn our season around?

I'm not holding my breath. We're terrible right now. I miss Steed, hell I even miss Chimbomba. I miss fatboy Huddlestone waddling round the centre circle threading balls through to Keane and I even miss that sulking twat Berbatov.

We were entertaining, cavalier- scored so many , conceded so many.

Right now the worst thing is that I dont see much entertainment from watching Bent run straight lines whilst the midget midfield keep giving the ball away.

I just need to be held right now

Selling Malbranque was stupid...and to replace him with Bentley, who was one of the best RIGHT sided players in the country last season...was even worse. Now he is at 0 confidence and you are struggling.

I think you will beat Bolton 2/3-0...though you have NO defenders. I think Corluka is still out...Dawson is suspended, Woodgate and King injured...you will have Huddlestone at CB with? Archibold-Henville? Maybe Corluka will pull through a fitness test.

You still don't have enough fire power, and your midfield lacks bite. You are in big trouble. You MUST beat Bolton at least, as your next 3 games are hard...and then there are a few after that are extremely difficult too...

It's worrying...it's hard to see where your bite, goals, and creativity are coming from. As well as having a weakened defence and a dodgy goalkeeper...

Are the players losing/not giving 100% because they want to get rid of Ramos asap?

Just wondering because sometimes this happens when a manager's position is in doubt.

Agree with your assessment, other than I just don't see us beating Bolton.

It's dire at the moment. We look more frail than a pensioner with ME.

Our only hope is the transfer window in January. Need a bullish central holding midfielder and a left sided player, and a top class centreback to partner Woody in King's absence. A forward too would be nice.

Its a lot to ask really

Need to get an English lion or two in the next transfer window. A bit of fighting spirit.

I wonder if Turner would be a good purcahse? Also someone like Palacios could be a good bet for midfield.

    Hutton----Turner--Woodgate----Bale
    ---------------Huddlestone
    -------Corluka-------------Palacios
    -------------------Modric
