    MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Think it would have a big mistake from Benitez anyway so it is ok because I think Liverpool would have a little back with Barry. As long as you still buy Heinze I can live with it. Very Happy

It was said to be £7m Hull were willing to pay last summer, he would have gone already then if Tottenham hadnt insisted on loaning him for the Berbatov deal to go through.

Maybe unstick this thread if it isnt going to get updated by first poster? Would be better with a club for club overview as well I guess.

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has made his first signing for the club by bringing in playmaker Jordi Gomez from Espanyol on a three-year contract.

Martinez, who took over as Latics boss this summer after leaving Swansea, had Gomez on a year-long loan in Wales last season from the Spanish side.

Gomez, 24, scored 14 goals for Swansea and is thought to have cost £1.7m.

"Jordi is a real quality player. I have no doubts that he will do well in the Premier League," said Martinez.

"I think he can go all the way in the game, and to play in the Premier League is the next step in his career.

"He is a creative player with fantastic technical ability but he also knows how to look after himself on a football field. He was very popular with the supporters at Swansea and I'm sure that will be the same here.

Left-footer Gomez began his career at Barcelona before switching to their city rivals Espanyol.

Martinez added: "We are a little light in numbers and I want to press ahead and bring in some more real quality into the squad.

"You need to have healthy competition for places and we must make sure that the players coming in are of the correct standard and mental attitude for us. Watch this space."

    La Masia. <Ale>

He looked a very skillful and clever little player when I watched Swansea play against Fulham in the FA Cup.

I'll make some sort of tracker soon to add updates on.

    Grr

Hoped to see Gomez signing with Everton, but after Martinez signed with Wigan it was clear that he will follow him. From all reports I've read he is a really good player, we could use him as Arteta back-up. And the price is low too.

Yeah agree with that, 14 goals is pretty good return for a midfielder even if it was in the CC.

Arsenal have completed the signing of Belgium defender Thomas Vermaelen from Ajax.
Vermaelen, 23, joined Ajax in 2004 and has made over 100
appearances for the Dutch club and has picked up valuable experience in
the Champions League and UEFA Cup.
The undisclosed fee is reported to have been in the region of
£10million and Arsene Wenger is convinced his new signing can provide a
"solid" base on which to help build Arsenal's challenge next season.
He said: "Thomas is a solid performer with good experience of
Champions League and UEFA Cup football and is also a regular with the
    Belgium national team.
"Thomas is primarily a left-footed centre-back, but he is multi-functional and can also play at left-back.
"He is strong technically with a positive winner's attitude and I have no doubt his arrival will strengthen our team.
"Thomas Vermaelen will be a huge asset to Arsenal."
Vermaelen, meanwhile, is in no doubt of just what his new club -
who were knocked out at the semi-final stage of both the FA Cup and in
Europe - can achieve next season.
"Everything is set up for Arsenal to be very successful for
years to come and I joined this club because I know Arsenal will be
challenging for trophies," Vermaelen said in an interview with
    www.arsenal.com.
"Arsenal are a great club with a world class manager, high quality players and a fantastic stadium.
"I have had a good taste of the Champions League during my time
with Ajax and this is something I am looking forward to experiencing
    again with Arsenal."
Vermaelen added: "I am also looking forward to playing in the
English Premier League, which for me, is the best league in the world.
"I just want to assure the Arsenal fans that I will give
everything for this club and I hope we can enjoy winning some trophies
    together next season."

£10m is a lot for anything.

How many EPL centre backs have cost more?

    Ledley Ferdinand
    Ricado Carvalho
    Jonathan Woodcock?

hmm I can't think of many, Corluka? Ivanovic?
