Just want to add that I always said that Lahm is more effective on the left. Even Van Gaal will be forced to see the light, typical dogmatic Dutchies... Wink

As expected, Hoeneß now does want to invest in the squad.

http://www.sport1.de/de/fussball/fussball_bundesliga/artikel_144030.html

And while it's good to see that Effenberg appreciates the (unique) qualities of Wiese, they can totally forget about signing him. They may get Enke though.

WHAT? That's not true Allez, you have been hanging around with Dutchies too much it seems, stop lying! Laughing

Lahm is better on the left. The only reason to move him on the right for the national team was Jansen, who seemed to have bags of potential back in the day, but it didn't really work out as we all know. So for the sake of having attacking fullbacks on both flanks, moving Lahm to the right made sense.

BACK THEN.

Now we have much better alternatives on the right (Beck, Hinkel), so Lahm should stay on the left, his strongest, side. q.e.d.!

It IS true Blut. Back in the glory days of qualification for Euro 2008, around the time when Lahm/Jansen was officially taking over as the status quo from Friedrich or Fritz and Lahm (this may have started as far back as March 2007 around the time of the Prague game, but certainly continued for a good while after that), you insisted this was the right way to go, as this guaranteed width from the full-backs necessary in the team's 4-4-2 system. I actually tried to argue with this a bit as I said that in practice Lahm had often been more effective on the left, cutting in and all that, but you weren't having any of it.

Now I'm not good at archive/search thingies, but if anyone's capable of searching back on the Mannschaft thread round about April 2007 or so, they'll see I'm right.

Most uncharacteristically feminine of you to be changing your mind so regularly while pretending you didn't Blut Smile

Allez, as I've explained to you numerous times, the reason why I wanted Lahm to play on the right back then was Jansen, who was looking great in the Euro qualification. I wanted to get rid of Arne Friedrich as RB for good, I wanted two attacking fullbacks to provide width in our indeed rather narrow 4-2-2-2 system, I wanted us to be less one-sided and predictable, and I was (and still am) right about that!

It was not because I believe Lahm to be more effective on the right, I was fully aware of him being more of a threat when he could cut in from the left, give us those typical one-twos with Schweini or whoever played on his side. I was fully aware that he could and still can cross pretty decently with his weaker left foot. I had quite a few discussions with Leonardo and others about this actually, those who believed him to be better on the right due to his stronger right foot. But similar to Schweinsteiger, another right footed player, it seems to be easier for him to go past players on the left. The only reason why Lahm himself prefers the right side is that it seems to be easier for him to defend on the right, at least in theory. In reality he is worse at both on the right, attacking and defending. But still, Lahm at RB >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Arne Friedrich at RB. PERIOD.

Allez, your propaganda trait is worrying. It seems you wore that hideous T-shirt a bit too long. Would be a real pity to lose you to the dark side, too!

2 Van Gaal sidesteps:

1. Bayern is now driectly reachable in the club submenu of Holland's most populair footy website vi:

http://www.vi.nl/Teams/Zoek-team.htm

Mainly for those into Schadenfreude about Van Gaal, Bayern & both. So me too. Ale

2. Van Gaal - like I predicted - is playing Lahm on the right. How's he doing so far?

---

If he gets sacked, I predict the 1st game after Hallenfussball. Still fear it could turn out wrong, i.e. become a success. Van Gaal at Bayern that is.

& I do not believe van Gaal wanted Gomez. Would be very untypical.

Good one. So, last season the squad was not the problem, it was the devil Klinsmann. And this season the squad ain't the problem either, even though they still have major problems with the goalie and the defense.

So, what IS the problem then? Always the coach? That's a little too easy, Otto, even for you.

As for Lahm: OF COURSE he is better on the left. Tsk.

Blütlein no need to get so emphatic, the only thing we disagree on is how to represent your earlier views, and for an objective take on these we'd need some talented geek to trawl back through the Mannschaft thread. (I trust you would be better at this than me Razz) For the moment I will accept your excuse that it was "only under exceptional circumstances", though that's not how it seemed at the time Wink

fuck

apparently, Bayern will sign and present Robben THIS week

Yikes

he cannot play as a number 10 and neither can Ribery

since Ribery cannot play on the right, you could have him on the left and Robben on the right

so where would Schweini play ?

and what about Olic, Bayern's best player at the moment ?

will vG finally switch to a 433 ?

and where will that leave Klose, Olic, Toni ?

how long will you keep this up? Unless ol' Louis gets 2 points from 8 games, I just don't see how he won't be 'allowed' to finish this season.

WG Ale

agree

they will not and frankly cannot sack vG any time soon

Hoeness and Dummenigge might as well resign

but the pressure on vG and the two Trottel is getting VERY BIG

all the big guns are taking aim already: Kahn, Effenberg, Netzer, Beckenbauer, Lattek, soon to be joined by Loddar and increasingly well-organised fans on the Internet

--------

so far vG was PRETTY BAD

I have seen him in THREE public training sessions

the first one was excellent; the other two were the WORST I have yet seen

(I might report in more detail later)

vG has two allies (the two TROTTEL on the board)

they need RESULTS though, otherwise they become UNTENABLE themselves

vG HAS to understand that the LONG_TERM approach he clearly wants to take is NOT good enough at Bayern

so far, he does NOT understand it

+

Hoeness and Dummenigge are Ribery FANS

vG RIGHTLY is sceptical about the French DIVA and wants to CRACK THE WHIP

if results are bad, the two Trottel will finish off vG as long as the Dutchie does not make the French c**t the centrepiece of his team

I fear that is the Bretzn the Dutchie will choke to death on
