Let's get one thing straight though - sure, Pep had a brilliant team at his disposal, but to say he just "let them play" is a gross over-simplification.

The difference between his team and Rijkaard's team may not be obvious in terms of formation or tactics, but is huge in terms of motivation, fitness, lack of injuries, workrate, teamwork, defending, pressure on the ball, movement off the ball, and performance in big occasions. All things that are necessary to turn a top team into a title-winning one.

Ale

And he didn't inherit one of the best teams ever - Barca weren't that great between their 2 CL wins, and they lost 2 La Liga's on the bounce.

Weren't they underdogs before they beat Man Utd in 2009?

Hmmm, out of nowhere, Qatar win the right to host the 2022 World Cup.

Among their brand ambassadors? Pep Guardiola, of course. Is there no end to his awesomeness?

So we'll have Pep to thank for an alcohol free, environmentally devastating World Cup in a country with no footballing tradition that could probably better spend the money helping its non-oil rich neighbors?

To Pep cheers
