If the winner is already qualified via league then the runner-up will get the EL spot.

I can live with them as long as they are below us in the table. A Bundesliga season without Germany's biggest Derby would be a great shame anyway.

cheers

MAGATH has done it AGAIN cheers

all those Felix HATERS now have to shut up

they have reached the FINALE

kicked out van Gaal's Bayern in Munich (where Bayern have NOT lost a Cup game for the last 20 years)

they will probably win a Cup this season, shutting up all those IDIOTIC Schalke fans/media lunatics

+

they will probably now represent the Bundesliga next season in Europe (rather than Duisburg)

Ale

this also means that Neuer is MORE likely to stay in Schalke cheers

I think most Bundesliga managers will have watched Bayern's defeats by Dortmund and Schalke VERY closely

they now know what I have said for a LONG TIME

in order to beat van Gaal's Bayern , all you have to do is to take out Robbery

by marking them out of the game

it will be interesting to see what Hannover do now ?

Slomka gave an interesting interview in the current Sportbild where he said that the key to their success is NOT sophistication but SIMPLICITY

he claims they only have and TRAIN

TEN DIFFERENT MOVES (Spielzüge)

which they repeat incessantly in training

the key to their success is NOT an exaggerated POSSESSION play as practised by vG

or

even spending little time on the ball (see Löw"

BUT

quick-fire UMSCHALTEN when you win the ball ( which admittedly the Mannschaft did well also in SA)

vG could be in for a surprise

although, is the top Hannover striker not injured for the weekend game ?!

Bayern were ridiculously dominant in the Rückrunde of last season with the very same style of possession game so it's a bit rich to say that their style is exaggerated.

Their possession game is, admittedly, currently not working as good as it should be, which IMO is due to the fact that their ball circulation is, for various reasons (injuries, out-of-formness, lack or workrate), far too slow at the moment and this make Bayern very easy to defend against.

Post by Ä on Sat May 21, 2011 9:51 am

originally, I wanted Schalke to WIN the Cup

and really

Schalke would be far better Bundesliga ambassadors in Europe than Duisburg

BUT

Duisburg are SECOND Bundesliga underdogs

and injury RAVAGED as well

so on paper , they really should have NO CHANCE

ie

they DESERVE our support Ale

if Schalke cannot beat them, they don't deserve it anyway

+

Duisburg is probably still in shock over the Loveparade debacle

a Cup win could give them a bit of HOPE

+

Tönnies and Neuer do NOT deserve to get ANYTHING of of this season after their ATROCIOUS behaviour vis-a-vis Magath/the club

sacking Felix will enter club history as the STUPIDEST decision post WW2

and they already know it

Neuer's announcement to leave the club

when Schalke were still BANG in the hunt for all sorts of titles is still one of the most IDIOTIC things a CAPTAIN has ever done in the Bundesliga

and after that fateful press conference, Schalke have LOST every single match, if I remember correctly

it would be a TRAVESTY , if Neuer was allowed to leave the CLUB with his first title under those circumstances

Grr

then again

would be great if RAUL won the first CUP title of his career Ale

Uchida and Höwedes winning a bit of silverware would also be fantastic

Ale

ah well

let's just hope for a GOOD game, I guess

whatever happens

IF Schalke win, it's 100% Magath's win

and

IF Schalke lose, it's 100% Tönnies', Rangnick's and Neuer's DEFEAT

NEVER forget THAT

Ale Whistle

It's 4-0 now. Schalke in Europe next season, which is good news for the league. However, Rangnick needs to sort out the mess of the last few weeks. Schalke were in a total meltdown, played like a relegation candidate ever since they knocked Inter out in the CL.

Goal of the night by 17 year old Julian Draxler, youngest player ever to score in a Pokal final:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kx6z-kGFacU

Will be interesting to see how he will do next season. Rangnick will have to build a new team.

In other news, Schalke boss Tönnies is apparently unwilling to let Neuer move to Munich. He offered him a new contract (€7m a season) and promised to invest in the squad.

That's what I like about German football, these second and third tier teams from big cities with huge support, like Essen, Duisburg, Koln, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt etc. It's a shame such teams never reach their full potential while small provincial teams like Rostock, Bremen, Hoffenheim etc. tend to overachieve!

Pity!

lol!

Bremen has roughly the same population as Essen and Düsseldorf (-DORF for a reason!) and clearly more than friggin' Duisburg who can't even organise a Love Parade properly - doesn't get more 'provincial' than that. Bremen (and Bremerhaven) has something all those cities don't - a world class harbour. It's the embodiment of hanseatic urbaneness.
