Traitor, of course. Simão Sabrosa is no longer the main target of our hate in Alvalade Twisted Evil

But most Sportinguistas agree that it was the best possible deal for a player that has been undermining the team for the last couple of years.

It all started 2 years ago when his move to Everton didn't happen. Since then he has been asking to leave the team. He had serious financial problems back then and SCP agreed to increase his salary, making him one of the best payed players of the liga. But aparently that was not enough and last year there were rumours of a deal with Porto, as he was seen in a dinner with Porto's president. All was denied but now the move doesn't come as a surprise.
The surprise is that we got such a good deal (10M€ + 50% of a good central pass) totaling around 11M€. No club in Europe would offer more than 7M€, according to his agent and to Sporting's president.
As to Porto becoming stronger with him, i feared them more with Meireles than with the midget.

I was surprised at the final price of the transfer as well.

A couple more questions for you:

    Is Meireles to Chelsea official?

How did Mati Fernandez play for you last year? What do you expect from him in the upcoming season?

Is Simon Vukcevic staying? He was linked with Espanyol a few weeks ago.

We were expecting much more but the truth is that the whole team played like sh*t...
We expect much from him this year and from Pongolle too.

I guess that with the Merdinho move to FCP Vuck will be reintegrated.

BTW, the press is giving as confirmed that the Chilean Jaime Valdés (ex-Atalanta) signed for 3 years with Sporting.

No, but you have Grimi, that costed you lot, how much was it? E4 million?

Regarding Roberto, even if he was for free, a mistake is a mistake, and a "frango" is a "frango", but after seing Jabulani in action, I can see many more keepers this season having some embarrassing moments

Kardec could surprise a few people next season. His move to Benfica largely? went under the radar, but he's a promising striker. Remember him having a pretty decent U-20 WC a year or two ago.

I'm starting to like that new kid Salomão (makes the pass to 1st goal). The kid shows talent, much like Nani with a touch of Quaresma.

So, any views from Porto (Protheus?) fans on their current team? Do you guys think you'll be able to beat Benfica for the supercup this week-end?
I will not ask Benfica fans because i know they think every trophy is already won this season. Rolling Eyes

Yup, and we already preparing for the European Supercup , after all, we will squash whoever we get in the CL final 15-0.... Rolling Eyes

Tight game, very low scoring. Would not be surprised if he ends in a penalty shoot out.

After roud 2 all alarms are ringing at Benfica. Second consecutive loss and once again the Spanish keeper Roberto (8.5M€) in blamed.

Porto got an easy win, Sporting had a hard time beating Maritimo and Braga could't score against a well organised V.Setubal.

Pssst! Keep an eye on André "Culebra" (Snake) Carrillo. I think Sporting may have a diamond in the rough. I always knew he could play, but wasn't sure about how he would handle leaving Perú so young (like Manco), but it seems that he's enjoying his Portuguese experience.

Good on Sporting for slowly introducing him to the league. He has EVERYTHING to take that league by storm...once he polishes his finishing. He may be Ferguson's next signing coming from Sporting after Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani.

La Culebra is silkier than both Cristiano and Nani combined, but must develop the eye of the tiger of Cristiano. He may get there, he's only 19.
