Brazil is easy to explain they only have to play one good team in Argentina to get points. The rest of SA is shite.

Actually it is because they don't have to qualify for the next world cup

Of course, we know this rankings are skewed. Post Copa America, there were about 5 SA teams in the top 10. Post Euros, same thing for the Euro teams. Tends to look most balanced post World Cup year.

England have benefitted from good results in qualification for the Euros and subsequent friendly victories, including one over Spain recently. Along with not actually losing a game at the Euros in normal time.

We're not the 4th best team in the World. But then, if other countries cannot beat us more regularly and make some obscure Swiss mathematicians' lives a little less difficult, then who are we to complain?

no one pays any attention to the FIFA world rankings. FIFA don't even use them for seeding any more, they use PES stats.

Uptown Top Ranking
'FOUR BLIMEY' is the headline in The Sun as they are truly aghast that England have risen to fourth in the FIFA world rankings. How could this have been allowed to happen?

'Yes, the team that could not make it beyond the last eight in Poland and Ukraine is now officially the FOURTH best nation on earth. That is better than Brazil and Argentina. And it is even better than Euro 2012 semi-finalists Portugal. Even more bizarrely, it is better than beaten finalists Italy.'

How bizarre!

It's almost like England have lost only one of their last 16 games.

It's almost like Portugal had won only one of their last six matches before they turned up at Euro 2012. And then promptly lost to Germany.

It's almost like Italy finished bottom of their World Cup group in 2010 and have since drawn with Northern Ireland, lost to the Republic of Ireland and now won only twice in their last nine games.

It's almost like FIFA have an actual system that rewards consistency over a four-year period.

In the last 4 years England have played 46, won 30, drawn, 10 (including recent Italy match) and only lost 6.
The 6 England lost were against Holland, France, Germany, Brazil, Ukraine and Spain. Only 2 of those were major competitions (Germany WCF, and Ukraine WCQ).

Anyone seen the new rankings?

http://www.fifa.com/worldranking/rankingtable/index.html

Belgium makes the top 10 now, totally deserved. Same goes for Brazil. England are sadly no longer part of it.

But what makes it even better is that PERU is now a top 20 nation, only a few places behind England. But they overtook France already!

Tina Fey! mes amis!

We've always been a top 20 nation (at the worst!), such is the talent we have. Perú oozes with talent everywhere and yet at the same time we're fucked with corrupt fuckos! TFS!

The only team in the world that we don't match well against is Brasil. However, IF we're inspired we can beat them in their own house IN A COMPETITIVE MATCH just like in 1975 Copa América semifinal.

From the current list, the top 20, we can take out any of them ESPECIALLY England. CAN OF WHOOP ASS!

Bosnia? Switzerland? Croatia? Greece? lol!

I did not know you had a positive record against Brazil in official cup games. Well done. Same as Holland. Infact I believe Peru is the only SA nation Holland doesnt have a positive record with in official games. You think Peru would beat England?

Winning on pens for me is winning. It's not luck.

And in 1994 it was within 90 minutes. Wink

We don't own Brasil, and neither do you. In official matches:

Argentina < Netherlands (but they beat you when it mattered the most, in '78 FINAL) [1-2-2]
Brasil = Netherlands (thanks to Jap ref in 2010 gifted win) [2-0-2]
Chile = Netherlands [0-1-0]
México = Netherlands [0-1-0]
Perú = Netherlands [0-1-0]
Uruguay = Netherlands [2-0-2]

Netherlands perceived idea of having a successful record against American teams has been destroyed by yours truly. Biggrin <Ale>
