ok, I am better now. hehe.

anyway, as I said the man is a winner, he had a great period on Sao Paulo Futebol Clube for three years, winning the League three times in a row. (2006/2007/2008)

He right now is the Fluminense coach and they are also leading the League.

He is not a offensive coach and that was a surprise, maybe thats why his name was not soo popular, but he now will have much better players at his service, so I am sure he can build a better football team.

Latest is that he's staying with Fluminense, and Menezes will be Brazil's coach instead?

we lost the best coach we had in the last 12 years. Sad

Great choice by CBF. Mano is excelent.

Like Felipão and Dunga, he's a Gaúcho coach, from Rio Grande do Sul State, and as such he has a strong marking approach. His teams are always very good defensively.

I don't think Brazil will continue to play counter-attacking football though. The CBF doesn't want it, Brazilians don't want it, but the defence will certainly be solid.

Moreover, he's honest and knows how to deal well with possible internal problems.

He became known as a coach when he led XV de Campo Bom, a very small Rio Grande do Sul team, to the Copa do Brasil (our national cup) semis.

Then he coached Grêmio back to the first division and qualified for Libertadores in the following season, in which Grêmio lost in the final to Boca.

Then he came to Corinthians and coached them back to the first division with ease. In the following year he won the Sao Paulo State Championship and reached and lost the final of the Copa do Brasil. Last year, he won the Copa do Brasil and qualified Corinthians for Libertadores (qualifying for Libertadores in Brazil is much harder for big teams than in Argentina and in European countries for the Champions League, cause there are many more big clubs in Brazil with real chances of doing it than the 5 spots we have).

On Monday, he'll announce a probably Brazilian-based squad to face USA in a friendly.

Corinthians players "invaded" the interview to congratulate him:

New Brazil Coach Mano Menezes Wants An End To Pragmatism
The ex-Corinthians trainer promises to bring back attacking football to the Selecao...

New Brazil coach Mano Menezes wants the Canarinhas to rediscover attacking football, leaving the pragmatism which so marked previous coach Dunga's tenure on the Brazilian bench.

"We are going to rescue our style. Brazil has it's own way of playing," the ex-Corinthians boss told Sport Tv in an interview held yesterday evening.

"We want to recover that tradition of being the protagonists, and stop being bit-part actors looking for the rival mistake. The world now plays more similar to that Brazil and we ourselves have distanced ourselves from it."

Menezes also gave some indication of how his team will line up, stating that the three-man defence characteristic of Dunga's reign would not survive under the new coach.

"I like to play 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, as Germany played with three creators and as Spain did in such a wonderful way. We can play like this because the talent is there."

Menezes will start his spell on the Brazil bench with next Tuesday's friendly against the United States in New Jersey. A reshuffled team has a marked Santos influence, with Peixe youngsters Neymar and Ganso as well as the recently departed Andre joining Robinho in the full squad.

    Joga Bonito Rolling Eyes

He should continue what Dunga built which was the best team in the world imo. Maybe tweak it a bit here and there. Getting somebody instead of Gilberto Silva and use Filipe Luis instead of Bastos and build a better bench. Otherwise Dunga did a good job and he should keep it in that way from the start and slowly phase the older players out.

the best team in the world , can't believe you are still on that.

if the world cup were played again they would not win it, as i said before the WC, they will always struggle to comeback from a goal or two down, just not enough creativity in the first XI or coming off the bench.

Best team in the world when taking the lead, Maybe.

Then again spain is better than them at that too.

Dunga built a boring team perfect for the counter attack. This was not Brazil it wasnt good to watch and they didn't even make semi of the world cup which for them is total failure. Nice to see some flair back.

Problem with that is Brasil basically have like 12 (max) competitive games until WC2014 (Olympics excluded), and given that a large portion of the squad will probably be past their best by then, I think it's actually quite prudent by introducing some younger talents into the squad now. For example, Fabiano will be 33/34 come the next WC, and I think Menezes will probably earmark Pato as the No.1 ST for that tournament, so it only makes sense he is introduced now.

The same can be said for the likes of Hernanes, Ganso, Silva, Luiz etc.

Im not saying they shouldn't be in the squad but that they should be slowly introduced to take over.

With the news that Kaka will be out for a while and probably not at the old level they might have to change tactics as well because they don't really have anybody with his style. If Adriano returns to his old form they could play him as the focal point with Pato off him on the wing like he plays for Milan.

1st half brazil 2 (neymar, pato), usa 0.

what the hell, the kids are just making a fool of the good USA team. the superiority of Brazil is almost laughable.

USA began better, as if they would rule the game, but it lasted only 5 minutes. from then on, they couldn't touch the ball anymore, and Brazil, with theur swift, high class passing, gave the impression they were kidding around in Central Park.

as we say in Brazil, USA didn't see the colour of the ball.
