I don't think that he should call so many players from Santos. They have been playing very bad over the past few matches and they behave on and off the pitch like 10 year old kids. Not to mention their arrogance. Ganso is by far the best of them. He is by far the best brazilian prospect in years.

I also would change Lucas for Elias. I'm afraid Mano rates him highly from their days in Grêmio. I don't know much about Ederson.

Glad to see David Luiz getting his first cap. We will not lose him to the portuguese like we lost Deco. David Luiz and Thiago Silva have everything that it takes to make a very solid partnership.

Brazil misses a top attacking midfielder to play alongside Ganso. I hope Kaká rediscovers his form.

Overall I think Mano did a very good job.

    Rever and Tardelli! Ale

Exciting looking squad, which will look even better with the likes of Cesar, Maicon, Kaka, Lucio, Juan and Fabiano thrown in. Hopefully that's the end of Baptista, Gilberto, Josue and the likes.

First opportunity to see the Silva-Luiz partnership which on paper looks very promising indeed. I get the feeling as good as they have been together the Lucio-Juan combo will not be too sorely missed.

Nice to see Hernanes back in the mix too. Brasil's most talented CM for me (at least from those I know of)

Just missing Filipe of Atleti, but I fully expect him to have a good season there and perhaps grab a place in the Copa America squad if not before.

I don't think Luis Fabiano will play again for Brazil. And Kaká is a big question mark.

    @sheva

I expected Elias instead of Jucilei, who is more or less a reserve in Corinthians. And maybe Bruno Cézar.

I really, really, really liked this list. Very Happy

I am starting to think that losing Muricy and getting Mano was a good move, he seems much more open to young players, while Muricy always took too long to use the new ones.

God Help us, we are gonne need all we can get in this new project. A WC in our home soil, it will be great. Biggrin

I just hope Neymar won't do his dancing numbers. It's disgusting.

Very surprised at Jucilei. I thought he could call Elias and Bruno César from Corinthians, never thought of Jucilei.

Mano said his work will be based on what Brazilians want, that he'll form a team thinking about the Brazilians, having in mind that the WC will be in Brazil.

So all the johnny-foreigners in here can expect a Brazilian circus from now on. Samba-football is back. Futebol-arte, joga bonito, as you wish.

Mano is yet to win a major title, but he knows how to build very solid squads and how to pick the best players. That's why I would rather have him than Muricy as the national coach.

So far Muricy has won more silverware, but his teams are too predictable. They play too many long balls and their main threat are corner kicks and free kicks. They lack criativity. Mano did a very good job at both Grêmio and Corinthians.

Apparently Maicon said that he is not fully fit and asked not to be called up. That's why Rafael got into the squad.

Well remembered, Calidad. I also missed Filipe Luís. I think he has good chances of replacing André Santos in the next call ups.

    My squad would be:

    --------------------Júlio César-------------------

Dani Alves - Thiago Silva - David Luiz - Filipe

    ------------------Elias-----------------------

    -------Ramires--------------Hernanes-----

    ----------------Ganso-----------------------

    ----------Pato--------------Tardelli---------

I just hope he doesn't play Hernanes and Ramires as attacking midifielders.

Tardelli is good, but I'm biased and I know he is not World Cup material. I would put Neymar on the bench until he matures up as a player and a man.

Robinho is a c**t, better leave him out of the squad.

André is not that good IMO. Moving to Ukraine will not help his cause either.

a little bit too dramatic of a change, but i like that he is seeing that Kaka is shit, that can only do it at that continental level for brazil.

this squad is an experimental squad for him to choose part of it and mix with more experienced players in the near future.

Difference is that D Luiz always stated that is country is Brasil, and that's what is dream was, playing for Brasil, furthermore, he was a under 20 Brasil squad player. I don't think he even tough of playing for any other country.

Happy for the kid. He has done well in the last 2 seasons. Quality is there, maturity will came in time.

Both are getting older, slower, and more injured. Neither had a proper season of club football going into the World Cup, with strong suspicions that they were "saving" themselves for the World Cup. Fabiano even clearly said this at one point IIRC.

    Interesting.

Is that a pick based on form/ability or is he just squad filler?

A lot of these are just experimental picks. He's testing the kids to see whether they are really as good as the hype suggests. Apart from the Copa America, he also needs to plan for the 2012 Olympics.

The number of Brazilian World Cup team members (out of the squad of 22) playing club football abroad at the time of each tournament goes like this:

    1978: 0
    1982: 2

There are also rumours that not long ago he hid his injury from the doctors because he believed that Jesus would heal it. It only got worse and worse. He is fool enough to give millions to the bandits who run his church/religion, so I wouldn't be surprised if that is true.

How much do you believe this?

He has struggled in the last couple of seasons with injuries and he never seemed like he was quite right. I can't imagine that he could go through such agony for 2-3 years unless his motivation was the WC. Hopefully none of this is true and he can get back to his best this season.

it's more or less a common sense in Brazil that he was doing his last effort to play the WC cause he knew it would be his last, cause he's finished physically. it seems he's got the same thing Gustavo Kuerten had in the hips or groins (not sure), which was what finished Kuerten's career.

since he's a player whose style depends a lot on his physical condition, he'll certainly never be the same again. no wonder he hasn't been playing as he used to for some time now.

during the WC, Kaká admited he now has to play under injected painkillers.

that's what I've been reading from Brazilian journalists since before the WC.

if I believe all that? believe is a strong word, since the info come from journalists, a race of lying bastards from hell. but I do think it's possible.

It's clear to me as well that something has broken and he'll never recover his peak physical condition. In his last season at Milan he had many small problems and never seemed to be fit for a long run of games. His game has always been reliant on direct running with the ball and a burst of speed, he's not really been a classic playmaker. So I don't think we'll see Kaka at his 2007 best ever again, unless he somehow changes his style or moves to a slower, less difficult, league.

He is fool enough to give millions to the bandits who run his church/religion, so I wouldn't be surprised if that is true.
