Ligue 1 - Saison 2011/12

Post by A & K on Sun Aug 01, 2010 8:55 am

The transfer period has been pretty poor this year in France with only a few signings. Last year Marseille and Lyon were busy buying expensive players, whereas this year the difference is that they need to sell before they buy anyone.

Marseille hope to sell Ben Arfa who's too much of trouble to deal with that they want to get rid of him for something around 10m euros. You now understand why Lyon sold him for 8m (which everyone thought it was a real bargain then). Once a c**t always a c**t. Several "enfants terrible" left the country before because they had to (Anelka, Cantona...) and did quite well so we'll have to wait and see.

Both Marseille and Lyon want to buy a decent attacking playing.. The owner of Marseille said they can take a loan to buy a proper player (Gignac, Santa Cruz, Gilardhino?). As for Lyon, Aulas said a few months ago that they were interested buying Gourcuff fo 25m, but the player refused. Now he says that Lyon needs to sell in order to buy a new player, which is kind of pathetic. They certainly have earn a lot from getting to the semi-final of the C.L. The player they want to sell his Gomis, who scored 15 goals last year but who's a bit average. They forced him to go to Fenerbache who are willing to pay 13m, but the player refuses to go there. Lyon might be interested buying Remy, the West-Ham and Liverpool target.

Marseille and Lyon are again likely to battle for the championship.

Lyon have an exceptionel new generation of new players coming up, the 91 generation, which represents 50% of the national team -19. These players are: Tafer (the new Benzema*), Belfodil, Lacazette, Faure, Kolodziejczak and a few others. Most of these players were also in the -17 team that lost against Spain in the Euro 2008.

Lille-Paris-Monaco are the three team that might surprise this year.
Paris bought the Brazilian playmaker Nene from Monaco (14 goals last year) and Bodmer from Lyon. bounce

P.S.G have some decent players: Coupet (ex Lyon), Sakho (a young defender most of the big guns have an eye on him for quite a while), Sessegnon (from Benin), Hoarau and Erding. Still lots of old retired players still playing: Kezman, Rothen, Makelele and Guily.

* Really stupid interview by Algerian journalists that asked Tafer if he wanted to play for Algeria rather than France. They must have asked him 10-15 times. lol http://123vivalalgerie.com/content/294-en-tafer-%ABactuellement-je-me-concentre-sur-l%92%E9quipe-de-france-mais%85%BB.html?language=en

Watching PSG-Saint Etienne right now. Very good first half so far. Erding put PSG ahead before Payet leveled things for ASSE. Then Sessegnon with an acrobatic goal puts PSG back ahead 2-1. Nearly halftime now. Impressed with Sakho. Looks like a young Thuram.

Didn't realise that Bodmer had left Lyon. Always thought he was a really good midfield player but he never seemed to find the same form he had at Lille. Hope it goes better for him in PSG.

Never really got a proper chance at Lyon down to injuries and or playing out of position. Often he was deployed as a CB which is a waste...

Player to watch - Sambou Yatabare. French, born in 1989, plays for SM Caen, newcomer in Ligue 1. He's big (190 cm) and plays as a wing-forward, on saturday he caused all kind of problems for Marseille's defense, mostly harassing Taiwo, with rare combination of size, pace and technique. Caen won at Velodrome 2:1 Yikes

What the hell has happened to Marseille?

Watched the match vs Caen at home(had money on them) and they were so poor. Really slow and sluggish in every department. Caen were on a completely different level and deservedly won.

Currently losing 3-0 to Valenciennes Shocked

My new favourite player Mr Yatabare did it again - this time scoring and assisting in Caen's win against Lyon ok

Just finished watching Marseille's highlights - Azplicueta had a truly terrible game, not being able to stop anyone on his flank.

OGC Nice 1 Nancy 1. Emerse Fae - remember him - got Nice's goal from just outside the area. He was gracious about it, saying it was lucky. Wasn't really. Good strike. They deserved their lead. Second half finishing was profligate mixed in with good keeping by Gennara Bracigliano. Nancy somehow survived and stole an equaliser through Paul Alo'o Efoulou with five minutes left.

INjury time started with straight red for nasty tackle from behind by Joel Tsafack Nguemo on Fae. Deserved the red card - dirty git! Apparently French refs had meeting at start of season and will clamp down on this. Expect some cards this season. Had a chance to talk to Fae afterwards. More later - much later.

Gourcuff and Pjanic in the same lineup? does this mean Lyon will drop their winger system? I hope not because they have many talented wingers such as the under 21 kid for france Lachette or something like that and Bastos is full of confidence after a good world cup.

I think Lyon should have gone for a good finisher, Gomis does not convince me and Lisandro is not a great striker, maybe someone like Falcao from Porto would have been good he loves to score!

Very happy that we finally got Gourcuff. We need a playmaker like him especially that Pjanic is too young and irregular to get this role.

We've just loaned Tafer to Toulouse, the youngster certainly wants to play more. There's already Lopez, Briand and Gomis for two places, then there are some very good youngsters like Alexandre Lacazette and Ishak Belfodil who won the euro -19. There's also the son of the coach Puel, Gregory Puel who just got his first pro contact with Lyon.

Marseille also made two good signings with Remy and Gignac. I really don't know what to expect from those two! There is a lot of pressure at the club (more than any other club in France) and fans can one day be happy or super angry.

This year will be Lyon vs Marseille, then watchout for Lille and Rennes

Lyon:

Lloris---Reveillere- Cris- Toulalan- Cissokho--- Makoun-Gourcuff-Bastos-Delgado---Lisandro-Briand

Subs: Gomis, Kallstrom, Pjanic, Kolodziejczak...

Vs:

Marseille:

Mandanda-- Azpilicueta- Heinze- Diawara- Taiwo---M'Bia- Cheyroux- Gonzales- André Ayew--- Remy- Gignac

Subs: Brandao, Valbuena, Kaboré, Cisse

Two relatively good teams (in the ligue 1 but not enough for the C.L). Lyon's defense is not good at all, whereas Marseille's is quite good.

Caen have a lot of good young players and they could be the surprise package this year. The players to watch out are: El-Arabi, N'Diaye, Yohan Mollo, and Yatabaré.

Mollo and El-Arabi have all the qualities to knock on the A team.

I read a lot of good things about Yacine Brahimi (Rennes ) and he seems like a crack!

Sevilla File Official Complaint To UEFA Amid Forgery Claims Against Paris Saint-Germain Goalkeeper Apoula Edel
PSG goalkeeper Apoula Edel is accused of forgery and could cost les Parisiens their last two wins against Sevilla and AC Arles.

Sevilla could yet receive the three points from their Europa League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday after the French club were plunged into controversy following allegations of forgery against goalkeeper Apoula Edel.

According to reports in the Spanish press Los Nervionenses have lodged a formal complaint to UEFA after allegations emerged in France claiming that 24-year-old Edel is not who he claimed to be, but is instead a 29-year-old named Ambroise Beyama.

A former coach with the Cameroon national team, Nicolas Philibert has claimed that the player's identification has been falsified and the matter now lays with the French judiciary while UEFA are understood to have launched their own investigation.

If the allegations are proved true and the player is found guilty, he could be sentenced to prison although the player's legal representative Christophe Bigot is adamant that there has been no wrong-doing on the part of the player.

"It's a gross mis-handling. It's an attempt to intimidate Edel. I am extremely calm on the issue. I have irrefutable evidence that Mr Philibert is not telling the truth and Edel did not change his identity at any time," Bigot is quoted as saying by Marca.

Meanwhile if false documents were lodged with the game's French and European governing bodies les Parisiens risk losing the points they have accumulated so far this season in games involving Edel, namely the Sevilla tie in Europe and their last Ligue 1 tie against AC Arles.

They could also face expulsion from the European competition, demotion from the top tier of French football and heavy fines although club lawyer Laurent Pagnol does not believe demotion is a likely outcome.

"In sporting terms, PSG can lose the points gained in matches in which he was playing," Pagnol noted.

When everything seems going well. here you are an old story re appear concerning Edel's age.

Obviously the story must be real otherwise some people woul't even bother making complaints about this. He supposed to be 23, but is 29 (he actually looks older than 23). If P.S.G lose all the points they will be in real shit and if this story is true they deserve some serious stuff cuz that's so pathetic.
Just call his feking parents and ask. How difficult can that be!

Dunno if it's really down to be honest. The biggest teams have either a new manager, injured players or new players so this will take time.

There is a lot of quality in other teams though:

There were some brilliants actions and goals during the game Sochaux-Nice:

http://rutube.ru/tracks/3595620.html?v=1178edc16d999f4eb109ffb90eebeabb&autoStart=true&bmstart=0

Also during St Etienne-Montpellier:

http://rutube.ru/tracks/3595477.html?v=dbcdd729749697a9f12dfa7c5e3794fc&autoStart=true&bmstart=0

The majority of these players are less than 23 years old. They are doing well.

It's quite difficult to know how this is happening, I think the coach needs to get the sack.

- Puel sucks, he should be able to find ways to play better.
- the players and the bench suck

I hope Gourcuff can settle in quickly otherwise we're in real trouble. 3 defeats is already for too much. I bet we lose another one and Puel will be removed.

What I dont understand about Lyon is why do they have 2 really good players that play similar roles but really average ones in other positions. For example I think it is a waste to have both Gourcuff and Pjanic in your ranks because theres too much quality to keep on the bench.

Then you have Bastos and Cissokho and although the former is not a LB he takes up a similar role to Cissokho in the sense that he attacks the wing very effectively, having both playing at the same time limits the threat from one of those two.

Then you look at the CF position, a very important position for Lyon since they play with 4 3 3, and Gomis is not up to standard, simply put. He is a clumsy dribbler and he doesnt seem like he knows how to move as part of the team. Lisandro is a very good player but not a true CF, he reminds me more of Kuyt the type of player that does the dirty work up field and moves around to create space for the striker.

I think many teams should change their formation, I never liked the 4 3 3, and Lyon is one of many teams that should drop it, given the players they have at their disposal.

Yeah, Puel is all wrong with his tactics and I hope he gets the sack. There are numerous good players in midfield and not enough up front. Lovren, the young Croatian international is quite poor in defense. It would have been easier for him if the team was winning but it isn't.

Pjanic is too young to have the player maker role, that's why we got Gourcuff. Lot's of players have been injured and as I said the players replacing them haven't done a good job. Aulas the president said he is going to wait a month to make any decision regards to getting rid of Puel. Gomis sucks big time, he's a bit like Brandao (Marseille) as he wastes lots of chances each time. Don't think Lisandro will be able to score over 20 goals in the league / a season.

If Aulas gets rid of Puel, I hope he goes for a big manager. as he said one day he hopes to get a very big manager. He tried with mourihno but it was too expensive. Aulas also said that he hopes the club's budget increases from 150 to 350 million euros in the near future. So he is planning big.

Brandao is a cheat, I will always prefer Gomis over him.

Pjanic is not to young to be a playmaker imo, he was a star in many of Lyons big games last season, especially in Europe, and a young player needs to be given confidence after a good season like last year not benched. If it were up to me I would play xmass tree formation with Pjanic and Gourcuff behind the striker Briand or Gomis who are better than Lisandro at running onto through balls.

Kallstrom needs to play more, he is a great CM with different qualities.

I dont know about Puel, but Lyon usually makes good selection of coaches, but the players need to be used correctly.

This is bizarre.

Average managers like Le Guen, Santini, Houllier all win titles and then a good manager (based on Lille) fucks it up !!!

I still hate him for his team selection for Lille v Man U a couple of years back mind you so I don't mind if he is sacked.
