Van Gaal is considering promoting Maximilian Haas to the first team. Personally, I hope they spend some money instead. If Haas were good enough, he would already have been promoted.

Two good goals by Allagui and Rasmussen, though Stuttgart are making it far too easy for Mainz today. Stuttgart have no defensive organisation to speak of and their build-up is too slow and predictable.

Mainz - Stuttgart 2-0 FT

A fully deserved win for Mainz. Stuttgart can count themselves lucky that they didn't lose by a bigger margin today.

New season, same old shit - or, rather, same procedure as every season... As if it were too much to demand a good start... On the other hand, we lost 4-2 to Nuremberg in 2006 before we went on to win the league...

Still, I certainly could have done without this kind of crap today.

Not amused, boys, not at all.

Boys vs Men stuff. Leverkusen the much better team in the first half. In the second they just chose to sit on the lead.

We had plenty of possession (in the second half in particular), but no penetration. The passing in the final third was way too casual.

Was Ballack playing? scratch I did not notice him at all.

I only watched the game with one eye, but I thought Vizekusen were pretty lucky with the result.

I saw

The end of Hoffenheim vs Werder: meaning I did not get to see the goals but even at the end Hoffenheim looked like they were giving it to Werder who looked nothing like they did vs Sampdoria a few days before. Alot of good energy from Hoffenheim!

HSV vs Schalke: Hsv dominated the match and deserved the win but Schalke only began to function after the red card for Howdes which I found to be weird, maybe Raul still did not get accustomed to the tempo, his removal certainly allowed Farfan to roam around more freely. Hsv were very dangerous on the wings, Ze Roberto was excellent for me!

Mainz vs Stuttgart: I was dissapointed by Stuttgarts showing, I thought they lacked a playmaker in the team as their midfielders looked very rugged and lacked creativity. They seem to miss the presence of Khedira and Hleb and the lines seem to be to seperate from each other. But credit to Mainz they played a great game particularly when Fuchs sent in crosses from the left and Alaugi was a great mover in the box and scored a great first goal.

Dortmund vs Leverkusen: I was expecting something more from Borussia but Leverkusen were really a class above, they have better individuals and a better system already, and they looked much more dangerous and composed, to me they are a good title challengers for this season with so many players that can multi-function. As for Dortmund, the coach did a tactical mistake by playing Barrios alone in attack, he was isolated and the 5 man midfield did not dominate against Bayer's 4 man midfield, it seems to me Zidan is needed and Valdez would have been another good player to have.

Thanks for the input.

I haven't seen much games this weekend, still not in the mood. I think in 2-3 weeks from now I will be back on track Very Happy

Suprise of the weekend was probably Leverkusen. I had Dortmund as one of the dark horses for a CL position this season but Leverkusen did really well here.

Mainz continue to be nearly unbeatable at home. Will be interesting to see some other top teams playing there.

but olic on right, müller central

utter fail when you have kroos which is central not to beat, and olic on wing is just useless

klose fails as always
