    Robinho signs for Beşiktaş

Post by Sports Guru on Tue Aug 24, 2010 11:45 am

Manchester City outcast Robinho – the most expensive player in English football history – is close to joining Turkish side Beşiktaş.

The Brazilian, who joined City from Real Madrid for £32.5million in September 2008, has struggled to adapt to English football, and left the Eastlands club to return to former club Santos on loan last season.

Now, after 53 appearances and 16 goals for the Premier League outfit, he will soon officially bring his stay in English football to an end.

Robinho would be the latest big name to join Beşiktaş this summer following the arrivals of his former Real teammate Guti and Portuguese winger Ricardo Quaresma.

Will this expensive Brazilian be coming up with new and improved techniques as soon as he joins Turkish Beşiktaş? I don’t think so … what about you guys?

I do think they're close to agreement, but I doubt the deal will go through until very close to the end of the transfer window. Fenerbahce are also interested, and City will also want to see if they can definitely get rid of some other players to fit the 25 man squad rules. Plus there's a remote chance of Barça getting involved Grr if Ibrahimovic does leave.

He did have arguably his best season in Madrid under Schuster so in that way perhaps it makes sense. It also is not too hard to believe that going to be a 'big fish in a small pond' would be enticing for a coward like Robinho.

Hopefully Barcelona swoops in at the last minute. Ale

So which club is rumoured to sign him after all?
Turkish club Fenerbahce say that reports linking them with Manchester City's Brazilian striker Robinho are false. "We are not interested in Robinho," said a club statement. "It's all just speculation."

According to stories and Robinho's quotes today, it's actually him who rejected their offer. And Besiktas are interested, but never made a formal offer to City. Robinho still expects to get a move to an Italian or Spanish club. Maybe Espanyol Laughing

I cant see Robinho getting a move to a big team in Europe, he just needs to get away from City as he is not going to get a game there.
