    How good is Gareth Bale?

Post by Tweesus on Thu Aug 26, 2010 11:05 am

    So...

On the back of a fantastic 2009/10 season he's started this season in even better form, grabbing 2 goals and 6 assists in 4 games. How highly do you rate him?

For me, he's currently in the top class bracket and making hige strides towards the World Class bracket.

How many left wingers are there out there that are better than him?

    Ribery? Robben? Malouda? Nilmar?

I'd say Ribery a couple of years ago was, but not anymore. Robben would be, but does he really play as left winger that often anymore? Malouda scores more, but he's not got the quality that Bale has on the ball. Haven't really seen enough of Nilmar to comment.

    And what about Mancini? Whistle

    Anyone else?

I suppose you could say that Messi and Ronaldo would be better if they played out there, but that's a bit unfair seems as neither ever really play there.

Clearly among the best 2 or 3 in the Premier League on current form, but now he has to maintain it through the season, and prove himself in the CL.

Well that's probably not a good way to judge anyway because I'm not sure who exactly Super thinks is world class. He calls Messi an overrated choker FFS.

The way he's come on this calender year is amazing. I still think that he'll be an awesome attacking LB in the long term.

I dunno how good he is, but he's better than Walcott Smile

Who are the other one or two though?

Like I say, I don't think Malouda is as good. He scores a few, granted, but he's not as creative as Bale.

Can't really think who the other one might be. Arshavin's shite on current form and Arteta hasn'#t been that great either. Ashley Young? Bale's a lot better on current form at least.

Really great future ahead of him. A pity United missed a trick when it came to him. He'd have been been the ideal replacement for Giggs.

Well on his way in becoming a top class PL player, still very young so he needs at least a few seasons if he wants to be recognised beyond that. The CL will be a great platform for him this year.

Hard to believe he was being heavily linked with a move to Nottm Forest nine months ago. Bale or Redknapp (possibly both) deserve a lot of credit for the turnaround.

I have been very impressed with Bale. He is way too unknown compard to his talent and what he has done in the last 6 months. A damn shame he isn't English too because England could potentially have 3/4 of the midfield in the same team(Bale-Lennon-Huddlestone). Well be interesting to see how he does in Cl allthough if Tottenham get a strong group I don't think they will go far.

    Kroos
Go back and read what I wrote about Schweinsteiger again because you clearly didn't understand it.

    scratch

He'll clearly end up at United, we all know that surely.

'Arry was describing his future as at left-back the other day, as he has so much more space in front of him. Seems likely. Almost missing the point to talk in terms of "left-wingers" – for one thing who actually qualifies as a winger and who doesn't, and for another wingers are rather old-fashioned at the top level...

To be fair, his form has now been consistently excellent for long enough to talk about the kid as one of the bright stars of the future.

But obviously, the minute a thread like this gets created, all we will hear is how overhyped he is / has become.

Better than no one particularly rates him, especially opposition teams in the CL, because that way we can potentially see him stick one up the @rse of some of the bigger clubs who think exactly that - he plays in the EPL and has had a couple of good games.

In my opinion, he's already - consistency wise - the best left sided player in the Premier League (can play either left back or left wing equally well). And at 20, if he continues to progress as he is, then will become a world class star, but without the ability to show it on the biggest stage given he is Welsh (which isn't even a country, but a principality, so may as fucking well be English)

What a load of arrant bullshit. Wales have a bunch of top players around 20 or so, the same lot that came near as dammit to knocking your U21 out of the competition that you eventually I believe made it to the final of before losing to someone, and with them and Bale and Ramsey as two genuine potential superstars they'll have their best chance of qualifying for a World Cup possibly for decades. Your Euro qualification might not be as straightforward as you think...

    Awesome.

I dont think he should be moved to left back, think he'd be a bit wasted there.
