Inter drop 3 points at a time when they cannot afford to... and the worst thing is, unless we buy someone in the next few days, we will lose more points next weekend.

We are just not equiped for handle those kind of injuries.

And that fat nutjob Rafa broke our defence so bad, it looks unfixable without Samuel Sad

If so, it should make for a great CL tie against Bayern, whose team is also tailored to scoring a lot, but also conceding a lot.

So now it's injuries? Under Rafa I guess that wasn't a valid excuse Whistle

Don't worry Luis, we will be fair... if Leo gets 23 points from his first 15 games, whatever the injuries, we will call him an incompetent piece of shite too Razz

Good results for us, especially Inter dropping points as they are the only realistic challenger for us IMO.

We need to get the win tonight though, no more stumbles, this is a period where we should be getting maximum points and go into the latter stages of the season with as much breathing space as possible.

For tonight's game, it looks like Pato will again be on the bench, with Ibrahimovic-Cassano-Binho the trident. They showed some flashes of great link-up play and understanding in the last game vs Bari, so hopefully we'll see more of the same.

I know.

This hasn't been a bad winter mercato either: Cassano and Emanuelson bought for less than what Dinho's wages were.

pretty nice angled shot from ibra.

well well, it's been a hurtful day.
Got some hope in the first half after seeing Antonini blundering, Nesta injurying himself and Ibra missing a sitter, but in the end you cruised comfortably tonight, despite same lapse here and there and some lack of killer instinct.

Inter slipping, it was quite expected, we're just too pierceable this year and we haven't got enough options at the front to keep up with that consistently.

Being virtually at -6 at best is not that bad since I don't think there's any team capable of grinding out results till the end, but still it could be out of range for our current squad, especially if we progress in the cups.

Annoying at wasting so many chances, with Sammarco's chance at the end it very nearly was crucial.

Beautiful, beautiful assist by Cassano and a lovely goal by Ibra again at the end, and a crucial result as we finally took advantage of other teams losing points,

Antonini is an absolute farce. Good for nothing. Can't run, can't defend, can't attack, basically he's a simple link player in the opposition field, keeping the attack line high while adding a number to make short simple passes.

I was pleased to see Thiago in midfield, i have maintained long that if we had a decent defensive line we would be better making use of his technical, passing and shooting abilities in midfield rather than wasting those positive attributes of his game in defense, he has so much presence and tight control.

Nesta going off was a damn, hope he's ok and nothing serious, even if the two centrebacks did ok, Sokratis wiith a particualrly good interception.

Tough away game at Catania next Saturday, but with Napoli hosting Samp and Inter dealing with Pastore and Ilicic, hopefully we can pull further ahead.

Another drab display from the team especially in attack. I fear that we will miss out a top 4 spot if we continue like this. The solace was that contenders like Lazio and Inter also dropped points.

Given that it was an away game against Doria, I will not take the draw too negatively. But the performance again serves as a reminder to Marotta that we do need a world class finisher. We can't rely on a 36 year old Del Piero to come on and score every time we are in a mess.

Despite the win the game yesterday was extremely frustrating due to the following factors:

1- Allegri's decision making: of late he has been playing in a really negative manner, with no flair at all, extremely mechanical and the wrong players are being chosen in attack. I understand Pato is not concentrating like he should be lately but Ibrahimovic is NOT a box striker, Robinho has zero confidence to shoot, Cassano is not fit enough to create his own shooting opportunities. Pato is the only striker we have who attacks the box and is goal hungry. Ibrahimovic should not be left inside the box, infact he was very bad yesterday, cassano and robinho did well in the build up but lost the balls way to easily, our attackers have become so dependent on Ibra that they dont have the confidence to create their own scoring opportunities, it doesnt help when Ibrahimovic starts fussing when he doesnt receive the ball especially when he does it to youngsters like Merkel.

2- Papastopolous proved he is a good defender: I always defended him because he was made to look like the villain in previous games, he was overlooked for the likes of Bonera and Antonini (god help him) but Sokratis has everything a good defender needs he only lacks those small movements that make him good in positioning but the only way he could improve that is if he gets more game time, but he is strong, fast, technical and BRAVE so it is a shame that he isnt given enough chances. I hope he will feature more now that Nesta is unavailable for a while.

3- Abbiati does not make me feel secure as goal keeper, he plays better under pressure, but when he is rarely called upon he can lose concentration, he is not clearing the ball properly.

4- Thiago Silva is tha boss!

Not sure what you are on about.... Ibra is a moody, high maintainence striker who needs the team to play for him. So Allegri is just using that to his advantage.... Ibra did score both your goals yesterday (the first was as good as his goal) - what more do you want?? Milan are where you are mostly because of Ibra and his goals, many of which have been game winning ones. Sure, he isn't a true centre forward, but playing him & Pato was not working that well for you guys coz neither worked hard for the team.

As for Allegri brcoming more prudent, you better thank your stars he is doing that... with so much of your midfield missing, he is doing the right thing is plugging the defensive holes... At this point, Ibra and Pato cannot play together, you cannot afford two lazy strikers. Pato will have to learn to work for the team, or he will become a bench player. Allegri is a shrewd coach, you should be thankful for his genius... Thiago as a DM was a master-stroke in this situation.

It was a trick that Branca missed this transfer window... a bargain we should have gone after, he did have the characteristics we needed... tho that said, he was always going to be a gamble.

But in a way, I am ok with what Branca is doing... he has cut our costs very effectively, and the focus on youth will pay off in the long run. Lets hope we get Castaignos & Tassi.

Absolutely right, we can't go gung-ho in attack because we have absolutely no transitional pace in midfield or the wing-backs, all the goals we conceede mainly come from Antonini and Bonera screw-ups or counter attacks. The team has been more selective and cautious in its attacks, but we still create plenty, Robinho is just not a good finisher. You can't cite his lack of confidence because he's still taking the initiative and having efforts, he's just poor at finishing, even the ones he scores are usually just to the side or straight through the keeper, he rarely hits the corners.

Ibra is a god, it makes sense to set the team up around him because he guarantees goals, magic and assists. Allegri is a top tactician, he just has poor tools to work with in defence and injuries have hit the squad at the moment so it's testament to his ability to adapt personell into a new system.

If we had another decent centre-back i'd love to see Thiago moved into midfield permanantly, he's absolute quality.

Abate is out for tonight's match against Catania and we now have 11 players on the injury list. This is where the new signings will come in handy. Hopefully we have enough to get the win in order to take advantage of any potential slip ups by the others.

Probable lineup according to Milannews:

Abbiati; Bonera, Thiago Silva, Yepes, Antonini; Ambrosini, Van Bommel, Emanuelson; Merkel; Cassano, Ibrahimovic.

Bench: Roma, Oddo, Papastathopoulos, Jankulovski, Robinho, Calvano, Pato.

OUT: Boateng, Zambrotta, Inzaghi, Amelia, Pirlo, Strasser, Nesta, Gattuso, Seedorf, Flamini, Abate

The new boys at Inter may also start this weekend, given the inuury/suspension situation. Ranoccchia, Pazzini and Kharja make the squad, while Cesar, Milito & Coutinho are back from injury, not sure whether they are good to start... another squad inclusion I am excited about is young Benedetti, who has been training with the squad... he is looked at as our future CB:

Julio Cesar, Castellazzi, Orlandoni; Zanetti, Lucio, Maicon, Ranocchia, Materazzi, Benedetti, Santon, Natalino; Thiago Motta, Kharja, Cambiasso, Obi, Coutinho; Pazzini, Eto'o, Milito, Pandev

Likely starting XI:
Cesar
Maicon - Lucio - Ranocchia - Santon
Zanetti - Cambiasso - Motta
Kharja
Pazzini - Eto'o

3 Italians in Inter's starting lineup, and 8 italians in the squad?? Whats going on? Wink
