Solbakken just cut Poldi's BALLS off

Yikes

the Norwegian took the CAPTAINCY away from the Köln LEGEND and fan darling

Poldi clearly started to THRIVE when Schäfer gave him the armband last season, and Poldi said only a few days ago that he would NOT hand the piece of clothing back VOLUNTARILY

Solbakken could not have cared less and now handed the captaincy to Brazilian central defender GEROMEL

who, word on the streets of Cologne has it, barely speaks GERMAN Laugh

and is VERY introverted

Yikes

the press also reports that Geromel just flirted with LEAVING Köln to earn significantly more money in Russia or so

and handing him the armband was also a ploy to persuade the S American to stay and perform

anyway

this means that Poldi will cERTAINLY LEAVE the club next season, and play POORLY most of THIS season

HIS MANY fans will now HATE Solbakken

and the Cologne based media, that bizarrely, seem to be pretty anti-1 FC Köln already, will start major league shit-stirring

making it VERY difficult for Solbakken to do what he has to do

in other words

if he does NOT produce a blistering start to the season that will calm things down

he will GET THE SACK before the end of the season

as always

you heard it here first

Ale

PREDICTION time

next season, Poldi will either play at Spurs, Liverpool or Roma

wahre G

oh and by the way

Solbakken did not even appoint Poldi as DEPUTY captain , but instead went for Riether, who has JUST joined Köln from Wolfsburg

the Norwegian clearly went to the van Gaal "how to get the sack"-school

Poldi is many things, but I think even those of us who are fully paid-up fans realize that a captain is not one of them Ale

Poldi is indeed no traditional captain

he is not the kind of player who would organise team-meetings outside the club facilities, for instance

in fact, he really is what you could call a captain of the FANS

Smile

however, he tends to THRIVE when wearing the armband

and he often becomes a bit shitty when he does not feel the love

ie

Solbakken has just turned his BEST and most LOVED player amongst the fans into a piece of football scrap-metal

and appointed a money-seeking non-German speaking introvert instead

Laugh

nobody understands this nonsense

Riether, for instance, who has been at Cologne for TWO weeks , said a few days ago, that there was no way he would be captain

how wrong he was

Laugh

the media circus will now start and Solbakken HAS to deliver PRONTO or else all hell will break lose

the first "Sack Solbakken/Fink" threads have already been launched by Köln fans who fail to understand Norwegian humour

I quickly scanned through your post at first, and thought that you were talking about Podolski here. Whistle

As Allez has said, Podolski is not a captain. Do teams ever benefit from having the 'star' of the team as captain for their personal prestige rather than because they are actually the most appropriate person for the job? If Podolski is too immature to deal with it then tough, where is he going to go now?

Cologne have now lost their first two games of the season

they scored one goal and conceded 8, I think

making it their worst league season debut in Bundesliga history

Laugh

predictably, after Solbakken cut off Poldi's balls , the Pole had two awful games

the Norwegian got himself into a pickle here

he wants to introduce a completely different way of playing

and players admit, they do NOT understand it YET, if journalists want to know the details they have to talk to the gaffer

Smile

obviously, these changes take TIME

BUT

by declaring war on Poldi, the fan's DARLING, and saying publicly that a player of Poldi's quality was really overqualified to play for Köln Laugh

he has destroyed all the credit he might have got from the club board

my hunch is

TWO more games like this and the Norwegian can pack his things and leave

@sheffield

Poldi is NOT traditional captain material, as in LEADING the team

but he is arguably the most ICONIC player of ANY Bundesliga club

Bayern fans, for instance, do not really care about Schweini and Lahm, despite both of them being captains and both of them being REAL Bavarians

Neuer at Schalke or Grosskreutz at Dortmund are/were also iconic , but Poldi is FAR bigger at Köln

he is even bigger at Köln then Totti was at Roma, I think

a cousin of mine lives in Cologne and when he speaks of the club, within 30 seconds , he steers the conversation to Poldi

Poldi is FAR bigger than the club itself

in fact , they say, that Cologne consists of the CATHEDRAL and the Pole

it therefore makes sense to make him CAPTAIN as well and is suicidal to take the armband away from him

the Norwegian will pay dear for it and it was 100% predictable when he did it

the Scandinavian is about as stupid as Dutt is at Leverkusen now

You just look at this thread and see Otto's posted on it, so think "Ah, Köln lost again, evil Scandinavian will be being made the villain for stripping maestro Poldi of armband."

Must be pretty straightforward now to create a foolproof Otto post/thread-generator.

Must. do. better. Ale

Doggy I hope they give him a couple of chances more, because once he gets into it Solbakken will be an amazing asset for Køln. He really is a new-thinking yet traditional manager that can get Køln on track again.

The Köln (tabloid) press is notorious, the management of the club a joke and their fans mildly retarded. Sø that's probably a nø.

Solbakken's Köln draw game three (against Kaiserslautern)

the ice is getting thinner

some ex-Norway international, whose name I have forgotten, a chap who is about 70 now and once played for Gladbach or so in the 70s

thinks that Solbakken will NOT survive

the argument being that Solbakken, despite being an EXCELLENT manager, usually needs TIME for his ideas to work

even in the past, he sometimes needed a WHOLE SEASON to get his team understand his concepts

the Norwegian pensioner thinks that there is NO WAY he will get that time

a) in the Bundesliga

b) more specifically at impatient Cologne

and is therefore DEAD meat

---------

meanwhile, Poldi is getting linked with Galatasary now

---------

would not surprise me if DAUM got a call NEXT Ale
