Of course it's to be taken seriously. I would want to beat Madrid even in a coin toss.

Fucking terrible, ball lost again after sloppy control from Mascherano. It's quite clear our players are nowhere near match-sharp.

Maybe next time the smart-ass Madrid fans like Super and Fade Out will realise that we actually know what we're talking about when it comes to our team, instead of making sly little windups all the time.

Now Khedira pulls Thiago back by the throat. Well done, another player that's been 100% Mourinho-ized.

Madrid had dropped their tempo, now will have to raise it again. Our defense is there for the taking though, esp. if they exploit Keita's poor positioning as the "DM".

Thiago is having a shocker too. A reminder that he's still only 20.

Theory time:

Sure, Pep is well known for brining through youth team players quickly into the first team: Pedro, Busquets. And certainly, Thiago will be good enough to play for Barcelona one day. But for the time being, does Pep view giving Thiago too many chances as a risk that outweighs the benefits of his personal development - an anti-wenger like move if you will. In two/three years time, Thiago could develop into a perfect cog of barca's midfield, but at the moment, his style of play costs Barcelona too much as he loses the ball too often. Hence, signing Fabregas, who even if he has to adapt slightly, will naturally come to terms with Pep's way of playing.

HUMILIATING

sell ronaldo, dimaria

both very oldfashioned players, not up to date for the modern game, too selfish, brainless runners without passing ability, and both waste to many good chances

both good enough for the rest in the world, but to beat barca you need gtze Very Happy

Hence, signing Fabregas, who even if he has to adapt slightly, will naturally come to terms with Pep's way of playing.

I think there are multiple factors at play:

1. Thiago isn't ready to start yet, except against very weak teams, or in his own age group/B team. He's clearly passed that level, but not quite ready for the top level. His all round game needs improving, as does his ability to stay consistent over 90 mins and in consecutive games.

2. With only 4 attackers in the squad, it's clear that we'll see a lot more of Afellay/Iniesta on the flanks this season, and/or Cesc/Thiago playing as the "false 9", where Messi plays. This sounds unnatural, but I do think Pep considers it seriously as an alternative formation (basically a diamond midfield), since both Cesc and Thiago can score goals, which Iniesta and Xavi can't do.

3. I'm more confident of Thiago coming on as a sub and adding something different to change a game, with his flair, one touch passing, and deft feet that make space with the first touch. So it makes sense to keep him as a sub for now, to make an impact when we need it.

All said and done, I think Thiago will easily make 20-30 appearances this season, with at least 10 coming in starts, even if it's just the Copa or CL group games when we've already qualified, etc. Fabregas will make 40+ appearances, probably 20 or more starts.

Going to be an interesting 2nd half. Our passing game is still non-existent, it's been a moment of individual brilliance from Villa and a reduction in momentum from Madrid that allowed the game to be a 1-2. It should be at least 2-0 to Madrid if they played more seriously.

I can't comprehend how we are behind but I could see a brilliant goal from Villa plus poor defensive structure/indecisiveness Khedira/Pepe letting Messi to score. Overall, a positive performance.

not the best game to make any judgments about thiago in.

1) its his first Clasico
2) Keita is not providing the platform our midfielder need to do work, even iniesta has been poor because of this

cesc his here to give thiago some breathing room to develop (fill the age gap), but has thaigo is a more talented player and has such confidence in his game, don't be surprised if he puts cesc on even further down the bench by the start of next season. pep is known for dropping the established star if the youngster starts to perform in a heart beat.

Benzema-Ozil impressive. We've been more successful centrally. Attacking Abidal-Mascherano.

Di Maria-Ronaldo disappointing. Wingplay is the best weapon to attack this Barca side IMO.

nothing is positive

barca without several key players

madrid with complete A-team

barca played so far an horrible pre season, while madrid a superb

that says to me, the inferiority complex from madrid just gets bigger, and in near future it will be impossible to cope with it and play barca without FEAR

Agreed on Benzema, he looks a different player. But if he doesn't capitalize and get 2/3 goals at the start of the season, then I fear for him if/when he loses his spot to Higuain.
