Why Rolling Eyes? Shouldn't you be happy that he won't be able to play, or am I missing something?

Neymar justifies the hype as Santos reclaim the Libertadores at last

Innocuous in the first leg, Neymar showed why Europe's top clubs want him with a dominant second-leg performance

I just find it amusing that we would rather sign a player with a broken back than use one of our canteranos. If he can't play then I will change it to cheers

No. It's an admission that nobody will read the German articles I post, including half of the people actually interested in German football on here, so there's no point.

But not all English / British media is crappy. Once in a while, you can even find a true gem amongst the turd.

Yikes Rolling Eyes

I for one don't always have the time or the inclination to trawl through all the relevant sites, so am always appreciative of any decent German stuff posted.

Then again, if it is only for me... Smile

Real Madrid have completed the signing of Raphael Varane from Lens after beating off competition from several clubs for the highly-rated teenage defender.

Varane, 18, had been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Paris St Germain after catching the eye in an otherwise disappointing season for relegated Lens.

But it is Real who have won the chase for the centre-back's signature after putting him through a medical in the Spanish capital on Monday.

Varane has signed a long-term deal to keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2017.

Madrid announced on their official website: "Real Madrid and Lens have reached an agreement for the transfer of the French player Raphael Varane, who will be tied to the club for the next six seasons."

Varane becomes Madrid's fourth new addition this summer following on from Turkey international duo Nuri Sahin and Hamit Altintop, and Espanyol winger Jose Maria Callejon.

Borussia Dortmund playmaker Sahin, 22, agreed a six-year deal with Madrid while 28-year-old Altintop moves to Madrid on a four-year deal after leaving Bayern Munich.

Callejon rejoined Madrid, where he came up through the youth ranks before moving to Espanyol in 2008, on a five-year contract.

Madrid won the Copa del Rey last season in Jose Mourinho's first campaign in charge while they finished second in the Primera Division and reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

The new Hierro? Someone should remind Florentino that the original Hierro was born in Malaga and signed from Valladolid. Ale

"[Ronaldo] is a great player and has been decisive in many games," he told Punto Pelota, "yet in the big games he doesn't deliver, which is something that Messi has done. The top stars are the ones who perform in the top-level games."

He added: "Real Madrid have yet to reach Barcelona's level. It will be very hard to beat them if you line up all players against each other one-by-one.

"We didn't care about bringing players through the youth ranks. We spent money on buying new players rather than creating our own. The biggest sadness is that I see Casillas is the only youth product in the team."

The latest from AS is that Andre Villas-Boas is trying to 'torpedo' all of Mourinho's signings.

First - Fabio Coentrao. Madrid has been negotiating for the left wing back for a while. Benfica are insisting on 25m euro whilst Madrid don't seem willing to go beyond offering 15m + Drenthe or Garay. AVB wants him for Chelsea and Abramovich is willing to pay the buyout clause. Apparently Madrid have started negotiating for Jose Angel as they see Coentrao almost as a lost cause.

Second - Sergio Aguero. Not sure how much truth there is to this one because it sounds in the last day or two that Aguero is close to moving to Juve. Chelsea had even appeared to drop out of the race, so-to-speak. But again AVB has insisted they reactivate their interest. Again, Abramovich is supposedly willing to pay the buyout clause.

Third - Neymar. AVB wants to 'win with flair' and Santos boss Ramalho has just claimed he isn't sure how Neymar would do with Mourinho's defensive tactics. Neymar's agent has just recently said that there are few possibilities that Neymar will play in Europe this season but, again, Abramovich is rumoured to be ready to pay the 45m buyout clause.

It seems AVB is an ungrateful little c***; some sort of inferiority complex there. Although, I'd rather miss out on Kun and Neymar and sign Llorente anyway. cheers

Jaime, perez and especially jose, means no chance for the youth, you should just get use to it until one leaves, lets hope barca wins the league again Smile and he should be out.

Pablo Sarabia looks as good, if not better than roberto when i saw then play together for spain, so its a pity his own club doesn't give him a chance, but he should be back if he plays well at getafe

I know, it comes as no surprise. It is still disappointing. But that's ok, we have Altintop to look forward to on the wings. Rolling Eyes

I don't expect Jose to be around for long really. I think it is clear he is just biding his time until he finds the right gig back in England. I just hope at the next elections someone else runs because Florentino can f*ck off for good as far as I'm concerned. I was optimistic when he came back because he said all the right things about learning from the past and wanting to build a team with a foundation of Spanish players and players from the cantera but really he is full of sh!t.
