I read about it on this site - http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/inter-milan-chief-branca-closer-man-city-move-after-gasperini-horror-run-1895862

Though one can argue that it could be an opinion on some blog but I think it would be fair to assume that the technical director of a club would have an important role in the appointment of the coach.

I am not sure where you are getting that from... Branca had pushed for AVB as far as I remember.

Finally another league with an interesting start to a saison.

I might follow Seria A a bit closer this year. Klose and teh demise of Inter makes it a bit more interesting so far.
Also interested to see what Udinese and Napoli can do

Controversial, but time to ditch Pato? Constantly injured and unreliable, apart from his pace (which if a team sits deep is absolutely useless because he's not instinctive anymore) his finishing is actually diabolical, and he's incredibly inconsistent.

We already have enough strikers - Robinho, Ibrahimovic are the standout pair who constantly miss one on ones and great chances, time to get some money for him and get a proper goalscorer in, yes his record looks marvellous but his injury record and going missing frequently is starting to grate with a number of Milan fans. Allegri's tactical set-up is not optimun for him either, he only looks remotely effective when we catch other teams on the break with masses of space for him to attack, which given Milan's static possession style isnt helping anyone.

Given the injuries, last night was a good result and the second half performance was much much better. Udinese only scored because of an absolutely appalling piece of 'goalkeeping' from Abbiati, although he did redemption with those two fantastic stops at the end to preserve the point. The little Pharaoh played quite well, he's going to get an extension in the next few games because we can hardly file a team now!

And on another issue, what is the POINT of Urby Emanuelson? He seems to have absolutely no recognisable football talent whatsoeve, he's 'versatile' without ever excelling or looking like he belongs in a particular position, every game he's played in, he's been absolutely awful, i've yet to even see him get a shot on target, his speciality seems to be wildly ballolning every shot a mile above the crossbar.

Ex-soccer referee hated in Italy after 2002 World Cup loss faces sentencing in NYC heroin case

By Associated Press,
Updated: Friday, September 23, 1:13 PM

NEW YORK The referee involved in Italys contentious
elimination from the 2002 World Cup faces sentencing in his New York
drug smuggling case.

Federal prosecutors have said Byron Moreno could face up to 20
years in prison. His sentencing was scheduled for Friday in Brooklyn.

Moreno was arrested last year at Kennedy Airport after arriving
on a commercial flight from his native Ecuador. Authorities say they
discovered bags of heroin attached to his body during a routine search.
He pleaded guilty in January.
Moreno became a hated figure in Italy due to several decisions in the second-round loss to South Korea at the 2002 World Cup.

Finally, a win...

3 points are always good, but Inter still have serious issues. Sure, the players finally looked interested in committing to the game, there was decent work rate. But in the 2nd half, Bologna had Inter on the ropes. Our winning goal was completely against the run of play, only coz they made an error by hacking Milito down in the penalty area. That penalty and red card is why we won the game, we got lucky.

Now we have a midfield crisis on our hands as we travel to CSKA (Sneijder, Stankovic, Motta, Obi & Poli are injured, Muntari is not in the CL list). I fear an embarrassment Sad

Atalanta would ve actually been leading the Serie A Table if they hadn't started with a 6 point penalty... even after that, they have overtaken Inter Shocked

Interesting weekend coming up:

Inter vs Napoli

Juventus vs Milan

Scudetto contender's double header, anyone?

Also, Fiorentina vs Lazio. Can't wait. Tho we may not be ready for a team like Napoli yet, wish Ranieri got a couple of weeks to settle the squad down before the big games.

I think now it's the right fukin time. Sure we are not ready but it's time for the players to work their ass out till it bleeds.
I'm a bit fed up with our seasoned guys that suddenly walk around when there are bad feelings with the coach.

Plus there's no Cavani cheers

Are you suggesting that the senatori deliberately ambushed Gasperini?

I sure hope not, but it did look like that in the last coupla games with Gasp.

Well deliberately is probably too strong of a word, and anyway the prime underminers of the coach were the club and Gasperini himself.

Let's just say that our players are accustomed to a club that during bad times prefers to isolate the coach rather than giving them a full hairdryer, which naturally enables an attitude of pulling out and resign to wait for a change.
Since it's the second year in a row they were given an easier coach to work with after few months, they'd better show they are deserving the privilege =)

Roma winning 3-1 against Atalanta with a few mins to go. Bojan (!) and Osvaldo have both scored, while Pjanic just played an impressive 1-2 with Simplicio to create the 3rd goal. So the squad is starting to warm to Luis Enrique's ideas, and the big money signings are doing their job. They'll enjoy the int'l break.
