In fact I was very impressed with Elia with what I saw of him in the friendly against Notts County. Though just a friendly to celebrate the unveiling of the new stadium but nonetheless his skill and technique were apparent. I am eagerly looking forward to see how he and Krasic team up on the wings

A draw is not ideal, but we all knew that Lazio this season are the team to look out for... they are going to take points off a lot of top teams.

My guess is that Van Bommel & Seedorf were rested for the Barca game. Silly error, coz with Van Bommel, Milan wouldn't have conceeded two goals so early.

Now for Inter to win at Palermo... Smile

Not worried too much. First game of the season, we had a bunch of players out and of course Lazio is a good team. We conceeded soft goals but still, we should have won if we had finished off our chances in the 2nd half. Overall, I'm positive about the season, despite the draw.

Lichtsteiner scores the first competitive goal at Juve's new stadium to put them 1-0 up against Parma.

Juventus 4-1 Parma
Only caught the second half but Juve looked really good. Pirlo in particular has slotted right into a team defining role for Juventus. But even besides Pirlo's presence the attack was quite dynamic and they produced some good moves and goals. They were sloppy at the back to allow Parma's goal in the last minutes but overall this was a very good start for Juventus. I wonder about their defence but they are well stacked in midfield. Being able to call on Vidal/Krasics/Elia is pretty good. Exciting times for Juventus and perhaps this is the rebirth of Juventus that Italy needs. drunken

The defense held well through most of the match but for young De Ceglie's tackle on the last man to concede that penalty. Juventus would have loved a clean sheet and should've ideally managed it. But a very impressive performance especially from newcomers like Pirlo, Lichtsteiner and Vidal. I just love the goal scored by Marchisio

Gotta say, Luis Enrique looks like an incompetent coach. The pre-season, Europea League and Serie A games have been totally shit.

I think he should get a chance but his line up today tactically was shockingly poor and the performance was even worse. Playing 3 central strikers in this manner, even if Bojan is mobile, is obviously going to lead to messy play in the center. It really seemed like Enrique was thinking that if I just push 3 strikers into the team we are bound to create chances. I have only seen this game from Roma this season so I don't know if they were equally poor in the European games but unless Enrique is a very quick learner I expect him to get fired before winter.

For countries that aren't that far apart, Italian's and Spaniard's seem to be generally terrible at adapting in each others football environment, manager or player. Capello is one of a few exceptions.

Any other examples than Luis Enrique of Spaniards going to Italy?

Italians going to Spain? Capello/Ranieri??

Can you ground your son Bruno? Erm

We had 10 shots on goal, wow. (we averaged 24 last season)Such a directionless performance.

Luis Enrique is yet to register a win against a professional football side as Roma coach. The one win was against an amateur side in our first preseason game. (and it was in the 2-3 goal win range)

The 'LE is incompetent' thread is garnering more traffic by the day on the Roma board.

Juventus were very, very impressive. DEfinite contenders.

Not to mention that Luis Enrique hasn't even failed yet even though he is off to a pretty bad start.

I was impressed with Juventus today, they have an obviously fresh look about the squad with all their new signings and looked in control. Pirlo slotted in very well and Marchisio had a great game. I think they have enough quality in the squad to get top 4 and possibly win it given they have no European distractions.

Stunning second half performance from Palermo, Miccoli in particular, the interplay with Ilicic and Hernandez was sublime for the 2nd, beautiful free-kick and a rifle from nowhere from Pinilla. Palermo have some attack, but only a matter of time before Zamparini starts meddling....
