Last season we witnessed these two titans go at it TWICE in the CL to settle the championship. This season they're on a collision course for EVERYTHING there is to play for again.

I can't wait for Saturday to be here. Whoop

Mourinho you c**t! go toe to toe against Barça. I dare you! Whoop

Pep's favourite system should be 3-4-3 with 2 extreme hard workers on the wings. That's what he spend over € 60 million for Cesc + Sanchez for:

Sanchez----------------Messi------------------------Pedro
-----------------------Fabregas---------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------
---------Iniesta--------------------------Xavi--------------
-----------------------Busquets----------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------
Abidal-------------------Pique-------------------------Alves

Remember this was the system he tested right from the start of the season at matchday 1 against Villarreal. We were unlucky after that with injuries to Pedro and Sanchez (both key players to that system). In theory it's the perfect system for a side like us who dominate possession extremely well. The wings are covered by the most energetic players on the planet: Pedro and Sanchez. And through the middle oppositions won't create much against our midfield anyway.

I'm almost certain we'll start 4-3-3 with Villa-Messi-Sanchez and once the game settles down and RM gets tired from their high pressing (which they'll certainly do), we'll see Fabregas and Pedro comming in in the second half (for Villa and a CB) to go 3-4-3.

I'm not so sure that Villa will play from the start. He's only been in Pep's XI about half the time this season. If Pedro and Alexis are both fit then I don't see why Pep wouldn't play them.

For us it is quite clear how we will play:

------------------Casillas

Arbeloa------S. Ramos-----Pepe-----Marcelo

-------Lass------Alonso-----Khedira

Di Maria--------Benzema------------Ronaldo

Mourinho trying to play some mind games as to whether it will be Higuain or Benzema but so far this season Benzema has been the first choice and I don't think Jose will vary from that. It's a big occasion for Benzema. Another opportunity to prove that he has grown testicles in the last 12 months. The other doubt is Arbeloa. He is struggling with a bit of an injury picked up against Ajax. If he is not fit to play, Lass will fall into the right back position with Coentrao coming into midfield. I don't prefer Coentrao in midfield but he tends to release the ball quicker than Lass who is often caught in possession and that could be important with Barcelona's high octane pressing game. Plus Lass' pace might be useful in matching up with whichever of Barcelona's wingers is coming down his flank.

I really hope Jose plays Benzema, and not Higuain, he might make me eat my words at the end of the day, but if their is one real player I don't fear its benzema, he just doesn't have the it factor that certain players have, that higuain possesses.

As it relates to us, i would go with Pedro and Sanchez too, they give us that hustle that I was mentioning, but villa tends to start the important games.

I am really getting excited now, not nervous if we lose we lose, but I seriously doubt that will be the case, jose and it antics has just added that extra bit to the clasico, can't wait.

I wish this would be the madrid team, i would be certain of victory then

Casillas

Ramos------Carvalho-----Pepe-----Marcelo

-------Lass------Alonso-----Khedira

Ozil--------Benzema------------Ronaldo

Why

That entire back line tends to have a few brain farts whenever they see and red and blue shirt, in their eagerness to not make a mistake, they over think and silly defending is a result.

The midfield has a unit, Barcelona's midfield 3, don't need to say much more.
Ozil, doesn't know what it his to play well in a clasico
Benzema and ronaldo always over to it.

While with Arbeloa,Higs and Di Maria, they stick to the team ethic which favours what Jose want to do and all have more balls than the rest of your team combine with the exception of alonso, who just struggles because he is playing opposite the best midfielder in the past how many every.

Luckily Carvalho has no chance to play! He has been a liability this year. Too bad Mourinho already renewed him for another season. Sergio Ramos as centre back is the way forward. ok

Di Maria will play. I think Jose realises exactly how important he is all the way around. I don't even know if Ozil will play. Part of me thinks if at some point Jose decides to abandon the trivote and put on an attacking midfielder, he will go with Kaka.

I wish we would play Higuain. He is more effective in front of goal, works harder for the team, and generally speaking plays with guts. But I am almost 100% certain that it will be Benzema. The perfect opportunity to prove what he is really made of. Still waiting for him to play a good game against Barcelona.

Marca predicting a front 3 of Villa-Cesc-Messi...while I like the idea of Cesc as a false 9 (someone who goes behind the defense, which will force Madrid to sit deeper than they prefer), it means there is no width in the attacks. Even Villa always moves inside, and Arbeloa/Lass will find it easy to sweep up. So it's something Pep has to watch out for and address quickly in the game with Alexis/Pedro if needed.

One advantage though is that Messi will be up against Marcelo. Even with Di Maria helping out, I don't think that'll be enough to stop Messi.

In defense, I don't really care if Pique starts or not. What's important is that Puyol starts.

In the end, it's going to be a question of matching Madrid's intensity and hunger, and maintaining 100% concentration to prevent them having opportunities for fast counter attacks down the flanks, which they're experts at.

I am certain pep won't start that front 3, while it makes sense from an attacking prospective defensively it would work, as it will be asking to much of messi to tracking back, one of pedro/sanchez will surely start, if he does play cesc it means a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2, not 4-3-3

Is anyone nervous already or anxious about the clash of the titans? I just heard on ESPN Deportes that they're expecting a worldwide audience that'll shatter the previous record (club teams) also a Barça vs Real Madrid match. They also mentioned that no other club match comes close to the worldwide audience that Barça-Madrid generate. Not surprise! <Ale>
