Great comeback! I just wish that instead of putting out Lass to start with in these sorts of games we would just go for it from the start rather than waiting until we are already a goal down. In any case, lovely finish from Higuain after (shock) a great opening carved out by Ozil. Now I am going to have to say "he ALMOST NEVER makes" those kind of passes. Biggrin Callejon this kid has nuts! Another big goal from one of our own. Blush Oh, and if Ronaldo wants to know why the Bernabeu never chants his name, maybe he should try fighting for the ball like Higuain did just before Callejon's goal. Ale

P.S. Kaká is SH!T Ale

P.P.S. Progress! Ale

Terrible start, Betis with some good chances already. Corner, Valdes saves...

Xavi scores. Cesc put through by Alexis, but his shot hit the post and Xavi got the rebound.

And Betis score. It was coming...this 3-4-3 already makes the defense a mess, but to play it without Pique makes it even worse.

From what I remember, when Barcelona is lining up before the game with 3-4-3 Pique never starts. So for some reason Guardiola thinks he is a liability in this system. Unless I remember it wrong...

The times he hasn't started has been mainly due to injury, but the few times he has starting with 3 at the back we looked more secure.

the last time this back three started was against Milan and they conceded two as well

It's the system that is the liability, not the personnel. What has possessed Pep to persist with it I don't know. Sure, use it time to time against weaker opposition, but otherwise it's a system that horribly exposes the defence.

If it is to fit Cesc in, then play Cesc as the false 9 and move Messi to the right. Personally, I think aside from his goals Cesc has been rather ordinary, but that said, goals win games so he probably merits a spot anyway.

But Pep needs to stop fucking around with the defence every other week.

Alves-Puyol-Pique-Abidal

Occasional rotation against weaker sides to rest Puyol and Abidal in particular. But regardless of who comes in (Bartra, Montoya, Adriano, Masch), there's no need to change the system.

Benzema vs Van Persie hmmm Benzema has slightly better stats in less playing time but Van Persie plays for a worse team.

Think it depends on the opposition's tactics. It makes sense playing 3-4-3 against a 4-4-2 coz you'll have 3 CBs marking only 2 attackers(so one of your Cbs is free and can act as a cover). Playing it against a 4-3-3 or any variation of it could be a nigtmare cos it's 3 v3 at the back and your deepest midfiielder could find himself defending with his face to goal(dangerous!)most of the time.

Madrid used it very well in the 2nd half yesterday. Marlloca had 2 upfront and Mourinho switched to 3 at the back at some point in the 2nd half when they were 1-0 down, and they played far better afterwards(equalising and scoring the winner). He should have probably started that way in hindsight.

I wonder if and when "La Central Lechera" will turn on Florentino Pérez whom in my opinion has been instrumental in the demise of Real Madrid's prestige word wide.

Pérez did not like Eto'o and Barcelona quickly signed him. The pres then did not sign Ronaldinho because he wanted Beckham. lol! among many of the shit decisions he made in round one like the firing of del Bosque.

Pérez returned to lead Madrid again, and he's definitely destroyed Real Madrid's image by signing Mourinho. You can lose to Barcelona, but to lose even your dignity at home was too much for a legendary team as Real Madrid.

Will "La Central Lechera" turn on their boss or will the puck stop with Pepe? Biggrin <Ale>

Pep's legacy grows. What a legend...already! <Ale>

With yesterday's road win, it's Barcelona 86 wins, Real Madrid 86 wins, and 45 draws in their all time head-to-head encounters. It is the first time since 1933 that Barcelona do not trail Madrid in their historic rivalry.

At this rate Florentino Pérez and Mourinho will be remembered as the ones who made Real Madrid "segundones". Shocked

That is utter sacrilege in the eyes of the Madridismo. God help them!
