PS Thaigo and Fabregas coming into barca would obviously change something about the way they play, even reducing the possession stats from 70 to 60%, means more pressure on busquets, more chance on the likes of alves being out of position, more shots on valdez etc. So it is not just a case of replacing xavi and ineiest with 2 competent central midfielders, it is the position on the pitch which most affects how a team plays.

Disagree about possession stats going down by 10 percent, that's a huge exaggeration. We would still have at least 65 percent possession against that Bayern team. That Bayern side where nothing special.

There is no way to know, but there would be a drop in possession and that can affect a number of aspects of a teams play. It also allows me to introduce 3 potential weaknesses for barca, the averageness of valdes, the overratedness of busquets, and the defensive inabilities of alves. All 3 are disguised by the fact that barca dominate possession so much that the other team is knackered from chasing them around and usually out of position so even when they get the ball they are limited in what they do with it.

Stopped reading there.Valdes is easily top 3 GKs in the world along with Neaur and Callisas. He's easily better than any GK in the PL,even Pepe Reina who even I admit is overrated.Have you seen how many times Valdes pulls off world class saves?Nearly very game he saves 1 on 1s what other keepers wouldn't be able to.

Fucking stupidity from Pep - why does almost the entire first team have to play against a 3rd division side in the 2nd leg of a tie where the team already leads 1-0 from the first leg? 9-0 is nice for the headlines but utterly pointless.

But the main reason for my anger? Iniesta is injured for 15 days Grr

That's not just a dive like any other. That's up there with the worst dives of all time. The defender body, arms and legs are all at least 1 metre away from him.

All BARCELONA want for Christmas is: a few extra Clasicos to be added to the fixture list (Pep has won six, drawn one and lost none in the seven Liga meetings with Real Madrid so far)

All REAL MADRID want for Christmas is: Catalan independence - so Barcelona go and play in their own league

A couple of transfer stories today:

1. The talk of Keita being sold next summer continues to grow. Milan is the most likely but Liverpool and others are also interested. Marca says that Barša will buy back Oriol Romeu from Chelsea (10m euros) to replace him. I'm not sure if that's the best idea, or whether we should just promote Sergi Roberto instead. Maybe both if Mascherano converts to a permanent CB, but then the Thiago Silva talk is still floating around.

2. Both MD and Sport talk about Neymar. I think this is a done deal now, as much as we may hate it. And yes, his salary will be the same 7m euros a year that Madrid were offering. 7 million. That's how much Xavi and Iniesta earn.

Fucking disgrace.

Didn't AVB say that Chelsea don't have to sell back Oriol Romeu if they didn't want to?

Also when do you think Neymar will join Barca? I think he will wait until at least the summer of 2013,a year in Europe before the WC would help him a lot when he has to play against tough European defenses in the WC.

If Guardiola leaves next summer, he will join then. If Guardiola leaves in 2013, he will join then. Else he will join in 2014. By which time I highly doubt Guardiola will still be at the club anyway.

if Keita leaves their is a better chance of Roberto being promoted than romeu coming back, unless he continues to impress greatly.

Don' think the arrival of neymar is dependent on pep leaving, as I think pep has given his blessing for the signing, he has been looking for this type of player to to add some width, but also the capability to take him his man, since the start of the season, which is why sanchez and cesc has been starting over villa and pedro, who don't quite occupy the defender the way a sanchez does, they are more about movement off the ball.

signing neymar would be the return of HEM, in the sense that defenders will fear everyone talent with the ball at their feet.

all that being said I doubt their is any agreement at the moment, but santos are starting to 2nd guess that strategy of neymar staying with them until 2014, it hopes of him having a great work cup, after how he preformed at the world club championships

The 3 i've bolded seem highly unlikely, Bale is on a long term contract and Barca would have to put up a lot of money for Harry to sell, again with TS I am not sure how long is left on his contract but he won't be cheap and Romeu I have a feeling will want to stay at Chelsea, as AVB was the who trusted him to play in the first team and maybe there is a sense of gratitude and loyalty that follows that. However, the lure of Barcelona might be to strong but I doubt he will leave.

Agree with you about Bale and Romeu (his agent has said similar things about loyalty to Chelsea today...plus he's now a starter at Chelsea but won't be at Barša) but Thiago Silva is a genuine possibility. Will cost around 20-25m, money that Barša have since there's unlikely to be any major attacking signings next summer, and the player reportedly is interested in the move...just depends on Milan.

Also, why do you want Bale?

He could never play in the same side as Dani Alves. Isn't a left back in the Abidal mould far more important?

I'm impressed by Bale's versatility - considering that Pep has started using a 3-4-3, there's no reason why Bale and Alves can't coexist. Also, Pep has actually used Adriano in the front 3 at times this season. Bale can easily do a job there.

Milan are very unlikely to sell Silva, they are planning to make him captain. The kind of money that transfer operation will need, Barca never spend that on defenders.

I think Neymar might be your big spending over the summer.

So, 2 slaps in the face from Pep to all of us and the media re. his transfers - people (mostly non-Barša fans) criticised the Mascherano signing, but he's turned into a brilliant and very important player for the club.

And Cesc has become our new number 9. 2nd top scorer after Messi this season...absolutely beautiful chip for the 2nd goal last night. Even Barša fans (like me) who thought we shouldn't pay the money for him, can't say anything now. Well worth it.

In both cases, Pep has answered the "but how will they play with Xavi/Iniesta/Busquets there" question by changing their positions and changing the team dynamics.

Still, we always have Hleb and Chygrinskiy to fight back with (the other flops like Caceres, Keirrison, and Henrique were signings of the club. ie. Txiki).
