Some interesting developments in the transfer market:

*Aritz Aduriz has signed for Athletic Bilbao. He was not entirely happy in Valencia playing behind Soldado (of course he will be playing behind Llorente in Athletic so not really better) and Athletic wanted a better striker than Toquero. Looks like the fee is about 2,5m euro. Second signing for Athletic this summer after they just confirmed Ismael Lopez from Lugo.

*Clear out at Valencia continues. Bruno has signed for Brighton ffs! Topal is on the verge of moving back to Turkey. Fenerbahce offering 3,5m whilst Valencia are asking for 5m. Looks like they will reach an agreement. Meanwhile Soldado who was being linked with PSG and various EPL clubs has signed a new contract through 2017.

*Alvaro Dominguez has gone to Germany signing with Borussia Moenchengladbach. The germans have paid 8m euro for the young defender. A shame la liga has to lose another of its young talents but I don't think anyone else could really afford to pay his wages. Has a bright future Dominguez but probably needs to work a bit harder. Plus selling him for 8 and getting Cata Diaz for about 3,5m means they are 5m closer to not having to sell Falcao. Antonio Lopez has signed with Mallorca on a free.

*Sevilla are in complete disaray. They thought they were sure to sign Cata Diaz. Now they are looking at Ivan Ramis from Mallorca. Apparently Mallorca asking for 4m. In other news it looks like Michel has failed in his attempts to convince Javi Varas to stay after the signing of Diego Lopez. Varas is most likely to sign with Celta Vigo. And Gary Medel looks to be on the way out. Napoli are reportedly close to signing the Chilean midfielder.

*Fondly enough no news out of Malaga as yet. Only rumour lately has been they are interested in Danish centre back Kjaer. Still Pellegrini has somewhere between 50-60m euro to spend so eventually there will be some movements.

*And much to worms' disappointment, Drogba and not Ibrahimovic will be signing for Menos Que Un Club in the next 24 hours. Ale

He did sign an initial contract with a team in Shenghai I think but it had a clause that if a club on a short list (Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid, etc) made an offer he could void it.

Can't wait to see Team Tito hoofing it up to Drogba in the Camp Nou next season! cheers

His agent(s), Rosell, and SPORT/MD have all denied it. No clause in his contract, and no interest from Barça.

Some rumours while we wait for the semi final between Germany and Italy:

*Lille are offering 7m for Ibrahim Afellay. He would do well to move on seeing as he will never play for mes que un sandwich

*Now that Jordi Alba is done and dusted, Barcelona are going to offer 50m euro for RVP.

*Bronzetti, who usually knows what's up, is saying that Lass Diarra is on the verge of moving to Milan. (sorry Forza)

*Valencia working on a few different fronts: negotiations for Topal are nearly there (4m euro offer, Valencia asking for 6m), now only the player and Fenerbahce have to agree on personal terms; Moya is looking set to move to Getafe. Getafe said they would not execute the 2,2m euro option to make his loan move permanent so my guess is they are trying to negotiate a deal around 1-1,5m euro; Valencia say they are not negotiating for Gameiro but the rumour is they are close to settling on a 10m euro move for the french striker after their initial inquiry about a loan was rejected.

*Malaga's first offer for Alvaro Negredo will be around 15m euro....I think we get a cut of that! cheers

*Salvio looks like he will be moving to Benfica on a permanent deal after going back and forth between Lisbon and Madrid the last couple of seasons.

*Monchi says that the Sevilla squad is 95% complete. Yikes

Valencia is the concrete test for La Liga. If the banks continue to allow it to get screwed, the gap will get bigger and it will lose revenue, so they won't get their money. If that happens it will take at least a decade for Valencia to recover and La Liga might never be competetive again. In time that will destroy Barcelona and Real Madrid too. Spain needs us to be strong and winning titles and ideally for Malaga and Atletico de Madrid to challenge too.

As Jaime has said historically Spain has done well with Real Madrid and Barcelona being the top dogs. Currently Malaga have the money and is climbing well so I don't think Valencia is particularly crucial anymore since Malaga has stepped up. If people want a more competitive league then it rests on Malage to make it exciting. Once Valencia gets their house in order they can come back and compete but I don't see that happening in the next 2-3 years and especially since Malaga will take the third place that was secure for Valencia previously.

And you never know where another competitive team might come from....when Deportivo started to fade away in the middle part of 00s Villarreal came to the forefront.

Betis are a massive club in terms of following, you never know, they might be the next club a sheikh swoops in to buy.

Sevilla too you would think will come back too if Monchi can get his head out.

But both Barcelona and Real Madrid were bailed out of debt. Valencia should have been as well. Turning it into a feeder club is a complete disgrace and it won't recover in 2-3 years; it will be screwed by the debt. Losing European revenue will cause furter trouble. This is not financial fair play; it is victimisation after favouritism for the big 2. That is why thisis the concrete test for La Liga.

You ignore the point which is that both Barcelona and Valencia built their houses on sand, but they were both bailed out of debt when it threatened to cave in, so they could shore up the foundations and build on it soundly for the success they now enjoy. Valencia was the only team to seriously threaten to break the stranglehold and if it had received the same financial support when it needed it then who knows what could have been achieved? They have lost some exceptionally good players, some to Barca and Real and even Malaga. How can they compete in a system that not only robs them of talent but strengthens rivals at their expense? The fact that Valencia is seen as a feeder club that will develop grea talent in some cases further, but then almost ineviatably lose that talent, including to rivals, Barca, Real Madrid and even Malaga says it all. What use is financial fair play when it punishes Valencia, but rewards Barcelona and Real when they did the same thing?

Valencia has little chance of getting its house in order in the foreseeable future. To pay for the stadium and the debt, it needs success. It can't get that without being able to compete so where does the revenue come from to get back to its rightful place? If they were serious about financial fair play there should be a tax on those who have already benefited which is then distributed to help the others. Anything less is not only maintaining the status quo, but making it worse. Valencia remains the concrete test of financial fair play. If Malaga becomes the challenger, it means that the only way to break the duoply is through financial unfair play and if not then financial unfair play has been rewarded for Barcelona and Madrid. How is this going to develop a competetitive league?

the kind that's different when you compare madrid and barca to valencia, is that valencia crash at the start of world crisis, so the couldnt be bail out the way madrid and barca were.

as for the whole malaga thing not putting my eggs in that basket until i see them spend some good money for two more summers
