Yikes

This is absolute mental of Milan. This is one of the dumbest transfers I have ever seen. Even if Pazzini is a great succes there is no reason why Cassano who has played better in the last couple of years for both club and national team should be valued less than Pazzini who has hardly endeared himself to Inter fans.

And the worst thing about this trade is that once again Cassano is deprived of Cl football. It's incredible that once again he misses out because Inter will only play in the Europa crap. Sad

I am sure he won't mind, he is getting his dream move... Inter is the club he has supported since he was little. From what I hear, Cassano is the one who pushing for this move, not Galliani.

I love the idea of this move. Always wanted to see Cassano in Inter colours. Pazzini is useless at Inter, we don't have the characteristics that he needs to be successful (IMO neither do Milan, but that's not our problem). I just hope Cassano has recovered from his heart condition, and that Inter don't offer him more than 2 years on his contract to start with.

I believe Milan were offering 7m (or 5m), and Inter were holding out for 10m. Anyways, I believe the final agreement has been reached at 7.5m + Cassano for Pazza. Pazza has agreed a 3 year contract worth 2.8m per year plus bonuses. Cassano is still negotiating with Inter, he wants at least what he was getting at Milan (3m for 2 years). Apparently, people close to Moratti don't think that will be a problem.

Announcement is expected latest by tomorrow. cheers

I still don't understand why Inter get 7m in the Cassano - Pazzini swap, Cassano is vastly superior to Pazzini who is just a numpty. And it doesn't fit with Milan's supposed strategy to save money.

From a financial perspective, Inter paid over 12m for Pazzini, while Cassano was valued at 5m at Milan. That's where the 7-8m valuation is probably coming from. Pazzini is also much fitter and a year younger, while the heart issues have done no good to Cassano's valuation.

I am guessing that from Galliani's perspective, he is letting Cassano go for free, and getting rid of 6m in wages to be paid to a physically unfit player who does not want to play for Milan anymore.... and in return, he is getting an Inzaghi replacement at an discount.

But that's all theory. I would take Cassano over Pazzini at Inter any day, even if he is primarily only a supersub these days.

I know but I have wanted to see Cassano in Cl for a long time and it just won't happen. It took forever for Cassano to get his act together and then when he performs for Sampdoria and qualifies for Cl they go out in the qualifier. Then he goes to Milan but he can't play because of playing for Sampdoria in the qualifiers. And last year he gets his heart condition so doesn't play in any of the serious Cl games. Now he is going to a club that hasn't qualified. I'm beginning to think I'll never see him at the highest level.

Pazzini is actually two years younger than Cassano. Also, before he didn't cut it at Inter he was in high demand...his stats for Samp are very good.

That's the positive...the negatives are numerous: Cassano was settling in, Cassano is a better player in our system, we are paying Inter 7 million + Cassano...which is absurd.

All in all, a bad deal for us as things currently stand. If Cassano doesn't have a recurrence of any of his issues (behavioural and health) then Inter have completed a great deal.

I agree, that is the key to this deal. Too early to say which club will benefit most from it, even if Inter do look like getting the better end of it to start with. Specially because I don't see Pazzini getting the kind of service he needs to score frequently at Milan either, just like his days at Inter. Pazzini ahead of Ibra or Cassano, or with great attacking fullbacks/wingbacks might have worked.

The pieces are starting to fall into place now.

IN: Cassano, Periera, Gargano
OUT: Cesar, Maicon, Pazzini, Mariga

Inter first XI:
Handanovic
Zanetti - Samuel - Silvestre - Pereira
Cambiasso - Guarin - Gargano
Cassano - Sneijder
Milito

Second XI:
Castellazzi
Jonathan - Ranocchia - Chivu - Nagatomo
Mudingayi - Obi
Palacio - Alvarez - Coutinho
Longo

Others: Belec, Juan, M'Baye, Stankovic, Obi, Livaja.

Me likey Smile This is definitely a squad which can qualify for CL, maybe even be in the title race for a while. Moratti is spending more than I expected...

Good strong squad and options now, and i do rate Strama very highly,

I think you could achieve a sneaky challenge for the Scudetto,

Milan will finish about 6th/7th i think,

Balance comfortably back to the blue/black half of the city again,

Like most i'm disappointed with what has happened this summer as well, but i disagree with Pirlo, IMO there's a bigger chance we finish in the top 3 than 6th or 7th.

In regard to the recent Cassano-Pazzini swap, i dont like this one bit but i find it hard to believe that we actually paid 7 mil in addition to Cassano. Galliani, notorious for his pennypinching would not pay 7 mil for far superior players than Pazzini, let alone adding Cassano to that; In my opinion theres a bigger chance this is another case of creative accounting, which has happened again in the past between Milan and Inter. At least, i hope it is.

We basically gave Inter Gargano and Cassano for Pazzini.

Madness.

The first XI and the squad are painfully average, there's no 'X' factor or consistency there, we definitely won't finish top 3 that's for sure, and we're hardly better on paper than those in the Europa League positions either.

Juventus is better than the rest, and even if we add Inter to that ( to be honest, i dont think they are that great, at least not comfortably better than us) the rest of the field is hardly scary. We dont have a great team by any stretch, this is pretty obvious, but luckily for us neither do the rest.

I am not that downcast about our team.

We got rid of all of the senatori, and brought in Montolivo (whom I rate), Acerbi (one of the better defenders in Serie A last year), Zapata (who was fantastic for Udinese just a couple of years ago), Traore (who has been pretty good in pre-season IMO), a young goalkeeper in Gabriel, and Pazzini.

My big worry for this year is Boateng, who has been shit all pre-season and who looks disinterested. Robinho will have a good season I think, and if we get an established name between now and the end of the window, then I think we have a solid team that can challenge for the Scudetto. I remain hopeful.

For me the most depraved act of management was lying to the fans about T. Silva. That is one area where my hatred boils over for our management and their modus operandi. Crooked doesn't even begin to cover it.

Finally, like you guys said, the 7 million euros in addition to Cassano is asinine.

I agree with you, Inter are not comfortably better than Milan, not this season. We have too many new players, and may young & inexperienced players (and coach). This is "year zero" for Inter, and a top 3 finish will be considered a success. What we do have at Inter is a better collection of players for the future than Milan, but as we know, that can all change in one transfer window if Berlu starts taking interest.

Juve are still top dogs, they will probably win the scudetto and definitely take one of the CL spots. But the rest of the field is quite strong. IMO Roma and Napoli are definitely in the mix to fight for the remaining 2 CL spots with the milanese clubs. Roma have had a good transfer window, and while like Inter their future looks brighter than their present, I would place them slightly ahead of Inter at the start of this season. Tachtsidis, Bradley, Destro, Balzaretti, Piris & Marquinhos are all decent additions to an already talented squad, as is the experience of crazy Zeman.

And while many feel Napoli have become weaker with the departure of Lavezzi, I do not believe that to be the case. I thought Napoli selling Lavezzi while he was still valuable was a very clever piece of business, specially since they had Insigne coming up the ranks. IMO Insigne is the best young Italian talent, he is like a new and improved version of Giovinco. With no CL distractions, and another year of stability under Mazzari, I expect Napoli to mount their first serious title challenge of this century.

Another team that may surprise us is Fiorentina. An excellent summer of transfers, if they manage to keep hold of Jovetic, then Viola are back. Maybe not the CL spots yet, but they will probably be in the top 5-6 by the time the season ends. Lazio are essentially as good as last season, only Udinese have considerably weakened.

There is still time for clubs to sign reinforcements, so this could all change over the next few days.

Milan or Inter should go for Poli.

We shouldn't have let him go, he is a decent player. But Strama needed a DM. So its was either Guarin or Poli, and Guarin is better.
