Surely Galliani can see where there is a problem. I can understand that Milan are covered at CB, even though the quality is lacking unless Zapata can rediscover his form or Acerbi lives up to his potential quickly. I can also understand RB, both are talented. But LB?? All 3 are shite. Milan should get rid of Mesbah & Vila, and get a top LB - Antonini can be back up.

Balzaretti would have been a great buy for Milan. Cheap, quality, and can deliver the kind of service Pazzini needs.

The jury's out on Vila. He isn't shite though--just injured for a bit. The other two are abysmal, yes.

I have actually only seen him play once, so I will take it back. I don't know how good he is. But he hasn't done anything so far to suggest he is top club starting XI material. A potential like De Sciglio, sure, I'll give you that.

Oh hi all, back here =)

Down here they say that Fiorentina could be near to Berbatov (which would be very neat for them), and that they've agreed to sell Nastasic to City, which is understandable (Savic + 15-20mil for a 19 y.o.), but also a blow since the boy is prolly the best prospect around for a ball playing CB. City paid a lot but he's going to turn good for them.

For the rest, I'm kinda happy for Inter renovation (*NOT* rejuvenation, anyway); we're pretty rough in midfield, in defence I'm not convinced by Silvestre yet, no wings... but all in all we're decent in every department which is more than I expected.
Crossing fingers that Guarin doesn't get injured, and that we'll be able to get the ball from the defense to our array of mezze punte consistently.

Condolescences to our Milan buddies since their club is looking like taking a planned sabbatical...
Not much different than what we did last season, but with less pantomimes at least.

My assessing of Serie A after the first matchday... still the same than before, I really can't say who's going to edge it in the pack.

Juventus a bit above all
Napoli, Inter, Roma and Fiorentina to fight for CL and to be the Scudetto antagonist
Udinese - they'll do good but they can't do the trick to sell and finish higher every season
Milan
Lazio

I think the good part of this Scudetto race is that it look more open now that it did a couple of months ago. Juve are still the favourites, but now they could face a challenge from Napoli and Inter, maybe even Roma if they get their act together. This season might end up becoming very interesting after all!

I know Cesar has to go, and am delighted with the respect & affection the club is treating him as a departing hero. But the fact that we are letting one of the best GKs in Europe (even at this age, he still is awesome) walk away for free shows a serious lack of planning. In the situation Inter find themselves in, with an expensive replacement bought and the transfer deadline fast approaching, I guess we have no choice. But this could have been planned better, and we had sold Cesar before be bought Handanovic, we could have got 5-8m for Cesar.

This is still a big problem with Inter, we cannot sell our unwanted players well.

Ciao Cesar, and thanks for all those great moments.

Big news that Juve looked to have 'stolen' Berbatov from Fiorentina as he was on the way to sign! They're going crazy outside Fiorentina's training ground at the moment!

Very Happy Whistle

For those that don't understand Italian, a rough translation...

Fiorentina communicate that the operation to acquire Dimitar Berbatov is definitively over after reaching an agreement with Manchester United and after reaching a verbal understanding with the player. The English club granted permission for the player to fly to Florence for a medical visit, and the player even left for Florence with the tickets that were paid for by Fiorentina. But he never arrived in Florence, due to the nefarious acts of other organizations that have nothing to do with fair play (READ Juventus for one lol! ). At this point, despite the player's ability we're glad he did not come to Fiorentina as he did not deserve our city nor was he worthy of the values our shirt represents.

-----
Gotta say, Berbatov is an asshole.

I completely forgot that he was living in Manchester! Doh

Whilst most cities are an upgrade from Manchester, unfortunately Turin is not. I still think its the lure of living in London...

But he will regret for turning down Florence - one of the most beautiful little cities in the world. One of my top holiday destinations, I am planning another trip this year. And while I really like Fulham, Fiorentina are better after their acquisitions this summer.

Anyways, Maicon to City for 4m, fantasy football enthusiasts please take note. Inter have completed their transfers.

Its not "sexy", but De Jong could make it effective. He has some Gattuso-like qualities.

---------- Boateng
De Jong - Montolivo - Nocerino

They are almost like to like replacements for:

-------- Seedorf
Gattuso - Pirlo - Ambrosini

Though when compared to the peak levels of the former four, the new ones are not at the same level. Specially Montolivo.

That said, De Jong will prove be a better buy than the recent Pazzini or Bojan transfers. Milan could do with a De Jong like destroyer, specially since Muntari is injured.

Matri is a better CF, and Quag is a better wing-forward / 2nd striker.

Bring De Jong in, he walks into our midfield easily. Way underrated technically as well, people think he's just a leg breaker but he is actually a pretty capable passer as well (iirc 2nd or 3rd higher pass rate in the EPL in the past seasons); obviously that doesn't mean he is 2nd/3rd most 'creative' passer or anything like that as the type of passes he plays are different than D. Silva but he does know what to do with the ball and how to keep possesion.

Hope we sign him.

Baldie deserves to be applauded if he did indeed pull this off, cause this is daylight robbery.

ehe, classic Galliani's time.

If you think we got Gargano for 1.25mil onerous loan with 5.25mil buyout clause... Good for you (even if you have to factor in De Jong much higher wages in the tco)

@abundance: I thought he would've been on some crazy wages too, but apparently De Jong will be making 2.5 mil per year if reports are to be believed.

Not bad at all, considering how much we used to pay past it/crap players to sit on our bench in recent years.
