» - D. Mi.

The team played really well. Of what I heard, it's been a while since they play that well (something around 2006). The team needs to be the same now. It will be interesting to see what happens when Gourcuff, Nasri, Ben Arfa, Ribery, Evra and co join the team.

I was impressed with your defensive midfielder. Seemed skillful and played the ball well. Benzema showed why hes so highly rated, but also why he needs more playing time.

Yeah for once the team played as a group. M'VILA who's only 20 years of age looks like an ace. He was the best player against Belarus and one of the best against Serbia. I don't think Rennes will be able to keep long. Diaby played really well as well. He needs to find some consistency because it's too much roller coaster with him.

Watched the 30min highlights on Eurosport and from what I seen it looked encouraging especially when you consider the likes of Toulalan and Gourcuff can still come into the team. As it has already been said M'Vila played well, IIRC he was in the preliminary WC squad but got dropped from the 23.

Mexes and Rami looks a decent partnership and the back, they didn't give Dzeko a single chance. Not sure what that means for Gallas.

Blanc backs Nasri-Gourcuff partnership

France boss Laurent Blanc believes midfielder duo Samir Nasri and Yoann Gourcuff can play alongside each other, despite claims they are too similar.

Blanc recalled the pair to his squad for the upcoming UEFA EURO 2012 qualifiers against Romania and Luxembourg and has hinted he intends to start them both. There is a feeling in France, however, that the players' similarities make them an incompatible mix in the midfield.

And while Blanc admits he is still searching for his best line-up after losing two of his first three games in charge, he claims the Nasri-Gourcuff combination can work.

"My main focus is to develop the players and then to find our best formation," Blanc said. "If I judge that these two players deserve to be a part of that then they will play. If I feel that there should only be one or neither then I will do that too."

Blanc is without winger Franck Ribery due to injury, meaning Gourcuff and Nasri are likely to play alongside Florent Malouda as part of a three-man attacking midfield behind a striker.

Blanc hinted he could move Nasri out to the right wing with Gourcuff playing a central role. That would allow Malouda, who has scored six goals in as many starts for Chelsea this season, to take up his preferred position on the left flank. If that is the case Nasri believes he can combine effectively with Gourcuff, saying he had done so with similar-style players at club level.

"At Marseille and with Arsenal I have done the same with Ribery and (Cesc) Fabregas," he said. "When you play alongside players who are technically-minded like you then there are always going to be similarities. I also played alongside Yoann in a match against Switzerland. It went very well."

France will play Romania in Paris on Friday before hosting Luxembourg in Metz four days later.

Is there any talk of Antoine Griezmann getting into the French team soon? He has been really good so far in his first season in primera. He was getting a lot of hype in segunda last year with Real Sociedad but you can see why: pace, dribbling, can score. I am becoming a big fan. I know he's still quite young but seems like the french team could do with an injection of new blood.

I like him a lot as well. He played really well during the last Euro minus 18 or 19. Just read in Lequipe that Lyon want to buy him as they do have a close eye on him. He is valued 7m euros apparently.

There are a lot of good young players of his age that could one day play for the national team and he is probably of the few to play regularly. Gaël Kakuta is also another player who could soon play for France, but he needs to play more.

The good thing with Laurent Blanc is that unlike this stuborn Domenech he is willing to take anyone who's on form, like Payet (who must be one of my favorite players playing in France).

So, I hope Griezman and Kakuta continue to do well.

HT: 0-0. France with much of the possession but yet to create a real clear cut chance. Malouda with a shot into the side netting and a speculative curling effort from Benzema is the closest to a goal we have come. Lloris has had little to do this half aside from deal with back passes.

Hoping for better in the second half.

Sub Loic Remy opens the scoring after 82 mins. Long ball played forward and Remy was played into a clear path at goal which he took advantage of and his curled low shot beat the goalkeeper from the edge of the box.

Gourcuff seals a French win with the last action of the game. France hit Romania on the break with Payet (had a good cameo) on the right who tricked his way past the full-back, shaped to shoot, then squared for Gourcuff for a simple finish. 2-0.

Good but difficult win for France. L.Blanc was spot on his subs: Gourcuff, Payet and Remy created the two goals in the 15 minutes they played together. Payet, who's been great for St Etienne would have never be given his chance to play if Domenech was in charge. Happy as well that Nasri played. Clichy was the only drawback for France. I don't know what's up with him this year but he hasn't played well for both his club and country. He might lose his place next game and with Evra returning from his suspension he better find his form quickly.

Nice little group of players in this team and young as well:
Lloris-Mexes-M Villa, Gourcuff, Valbuena, Remy, Benzema, Payet, Nasri.......

The team is not playing great but winning, which counts most. Let's see how it deal with better teams..... England soon for a friendly!

Aye, it's quite worrying how he is still makes these elementary mistakes. His real weakness is showing a lack of concentration around his own penalty area, it's cost Arsenal a fair few times and towards the end of the game, whilst it was still 0-0, it happened again. At 25 you would have hoped that he would have eradicated it from his game. Add to the fact that his crossing and passing in the final third isn't good, you can see why so many Arsenal fans are enthusiastic (or "hyping") about Gibbs making it as a first-team regular.

I was impressed by Adil Rami again. 6'2, strong, good in challenges, reads the game well and is comfortable on the ball. Like M'Vila I can see him moving onto one of the French powerhouses soon.

Rami needs to be more consistent for his club first. He his a strong guy... I think he will go abroad. I wouldn't be surprised he'd go to Milan Ac.

Sagna is injured..... 3 weeks. Maybe that's a good thing for him because he's been pretty poor this season so far.

I like Payet a lot and it's great Blanc let him play a few minutes so he was able to show what he is capable of. Same age and size as Johnson but more an attacking player.

Gourcuff adds a second for the French. Payet knocks the ball to Gourcuff from a quick freekick and he hits a low 30 yard effort past the goalkeeper.

This Hoarau guy is useless and I hope Blanc understands this now. Payet and Gourcuff have both done well....... Diaby was voted P.O.M.... strange that he is usually shit for Arsenal and good for his country. I hope these two games helped Gourcuff and that he cna now perform better for Lyon. We need him to deliver like he did so well this week.
