I'd have to think about Mexes injury, we have no other CB cover with Mbiwa gone. Yikes Imagine the horrors of Alou being moved there! Blanc, that wine tasted good in Bordeaux, but don't let it turn into poison!

Counting on his all-round attributes, but once again, pathetic application, switched off and seemed to stroll without care. Enough of that.

France boss Laurent Blanc has hinted English-based duo Laurent Koscielny and Gael Clichy could face England on Monday.

England take on France in their Group D opener at Euro 2012 not knowing who is going to feature in a French defence that has come in for criticism in recent weeks.

Philippe Mexes and Manchester United's Patrice Evra are the more experienced options at centre-back and left-back respectively but have failed to nail down their starting places.

And Blanc was full of praise for Manchester City full-back Clichy and Arsenal centre-half Koscielny ahead of the clash with England.

Blanc said: "There was hierarchy in place which all changed when Eric Abidal became ill. We have to redesign the left side of the defence in the absence of Abidal.

"Clichy can bring us what he did in the second part of the season with City. He was up against [Aleksandar] Kolarov [at City] and managed to come out on top.

Modern full-back
"Going forward, he brings a lot to the team, but he still has to work on the defensive side of his game.

"That's the case with most modern full-backs, including Evra - they're better going forward than defending.

"Koscielny had a good game against Serbia, that's good for him. I don't have any guarantees in defence, I haven't told my players anything yet."

Roy Hodgson may have a better idea about the France team he will face after Blanc picks his side for their final warm-up game against Estonia on Tuesday night.

"The match should help us improve our fitness in order to be ready for June 11," Blanc added.

Great team work goal. But it's fucking Estonia. They still would have been 2-0 coz of Clownery from Mexes twice.

When they last played Germany there is a good flow to their game even when they play average they move well. The England game could make them feel negative if they get a bad result, need to not get overly caught up with that game and move on.

This team looks good. As Brain said, there is a nice flow to their moves and the attacking players interchange their positions. Menez and Giroud looked dangerous when they came on.

For once the team is entering a competition with high moral, which is kind of new. Before last world cup we lost against China and drew against shitty teams, so the team was heavily critised. Blanc is no Domenech nonetheless.
The defense with Mexes and Rami is still shaky, and probably Kosniesky instead Mexes would be a better option. Giroud hasn't scored during the last three games, but each time he came in he did very well and he got 3 assists. I think Blanc will definitively play one forward, Benzema and Giroud will be on the bench and will certainly play the last 15 minutes. The partnership Benzema-Ribery has been one the most positive thing about these friendlies... at fking last.
I wouldn't bet france to win the euro, but if they continue this way they can go quite far. They will have to repeat the way they play in Germany several times in order to go through the group stages and even further. We'll see.

I agree. They will have to repeat the same intensity and quality of football (vs. Germany) and they won't to go far. They shouldn't think it is going to be easy against England, because I doubt it will. There are still two games after.

Do you listen to talksport out in Mauritius? Yikes Laughing

I have it on most days in the kitchen, mostly to laugh at the pikeys who ring in.

Heard that Blanc discussion too. Ripped him for taking just 3 CBs and 2cCFs and filling squad full off diminutive midfielders like Valbuena.

You happy hes gone Fade?

Through the Web. Not by radio. Very Happy

And ripped him a new one for playing 2 RB's in same game, in stead of Menez. Then abandoning all the good work done in midfield with Cabaye-Diarra-Nasri in first two games. Inclusion of M'Vila in place of Diarra rather than playing both against Swedes, no logical choice with Diarra in place of Cabaye rather than Martin. Totally oblivious of using Giroud, who was extremely impressive when given 30 minutes in warmup games leading up to Euros.
