How did puros post just disappear? Don't tell me I just imagined him saying he had bet $100 dollars each on 5 players been top goalscorer.

I saw it too. He probably realised it was one fabricated boast too far. With his prediction record, there is no way he could afford splurging over 500 dollars just on top scorer bets without having gone bankrupt years ago Laughing

I share Pierre's views in that I like both Kerzhakov and Necid as players; and think Kerzhakov may be a good bet for top scorer whilst Necid is unlikely to be, because I'm not sure he can be quite prolific enough and I don't fancy the Czech Republic to go beyond the group stages anyway. I'm not convinced that Kerzhakov is guaranteed to start Russia's games - he certainly seems the favourite, but Advocaat has given halves to him, Pogrebnyak and Pavlyuchenko in the warm-up games and I don't know whether he'll pick his striker based on Russia's opponents. It will be interesting to see also how the midfield lines up - I presume from the warm-ups at least two from Denisov, Shirokov and Zyryanov, Arshavin captaining the side, and then one or both of Dzagoev and Izmailov. I'm looking forward to the game later.

Elsewhere, I like Mller and Balotelli seems like good odds too.

3: Gomez, Mandzukic, Dzagoev

2: Pilar, Shevchenko, Fabregas, Torres, Bendtner

Gomez gotta be favourite now. And all the Germs assured us he wouldn't even start..

We had no idea about Loew's seemingly sudden shift in direction... we are seeing a very different Germany than the one which we saw in qualifying! Gomez is more of an old-school, traditional CF who shows up to score goals and little else, whereas Klose fits better into Loew's standard possession football, or what we utilized in qualifying...

We're also seeing a very different Gomez for Germany, for that matter... when's the last time he has consistently finished these kinds of chances for the national team?

While I still like Klose a lot more, I am happily surprised to behold this new Germany, which is so very pleasantly like the OLD Germany...

Kerzhakov should be put in stocks in the center of Moscow/St Petersburg when he gets back and be pelted with rotten eggs and vegetables.

Might put a couple of quid on Necid too - class act but just coming back from bad injury and don't think they'll go through.

Don't share people's view on Poland - Russia and Greece should go through.

Warmed up by coming on and scoring v full strength Uruguay last night...

Thanks I told you he's a very good striker, his all round game isn't great but he's excellent at putting the ball in the back of the net and he's pretty fast as well.I will wait until a couple of days before the Euros though because in the last world cup I bet on Robben been top scorer and Holland winning the world cup, needless to say he got injured I few days after I put on the bet. Crying or Very sad He still weren't that far away from achieving it though.

So I think I will put a pound on Kerzhakov, Lewandowski and Robben. Also might bet Muller top goal scorer and Germany win the Euros.

Thanks for telling me <Ale>

Incorrect.

Couldn't have known that Necid wouldn't play a minute but that's the thing with these bets - you're not betting on who you think will win (I thought Hunter or Gomez) but who you think is overpiced.

So for every Baros, Tomasson and Forlan there is a Yarmolenko, Kerzhakov, pauleta - you win big when you win but you only lose small.

Look what Bashmachkin posted on June 8, 2012, and I quote, '[...] and Balotelli seems like good odds too.'

And he was good odds; and with the 2 I put towards his success at 28/1, I expect by tomorrow evening to be veritably rolling in pounds, to be covered well beyond my toes in them; and might even send Puro some so as to draw him, with cold firm tactile British currency, from his imaginary realm of paper dollars and Peruvian pesetas.

So did you win and how much did you win?

I thought Torres winning the golden boot (for least amount of time on the pitch) was the only one that would pay out

Not sure what is worse....Gomez with his 30 seconds of having the ball.

Or Torres who only scored twice against Ireland and a death 10-men Italy. It's already mental he scored twice in a final! Big game player Very Happy

I was wrong when I said I put 2 on Balotelli at 28/1: the odds were actually 29/1 when I bet on him prior to the start of the tournament. If he had won the Golden Boot outright, I'd have won 58. As it was, I won 11.60, which is 58 divided by five, though as far as I'm aware six players tied on three goals as the tournament's joint-top scorers.

I sent an 'International Signed For' letter to Peru, containing a small card, already in my possession, which I wrote on, and 5 in coins; the letter cost me 8.95 to send, which was more than I had been expecting. I went to the supermarket. I put in my basket: one packet basmati rice, one naan bread, one tin coconut milk, one onion, two round tomatoes, one large chicken. Finding my 20 note reduced to 6.05, I could not afford the chicken, and had a bad dinner.
