Forza Italia!Forza Milan! wrote:It may be strange, but I actually love the Azzurri slightly more than Milan. I started watching Italian football because of the 1990 Italy team. I was a kid then but the build up to the semi-final and that semi-final loss to Argentina made me fall in love with the gli azzurri, and the passion has grown and grown.

It is a shit feeling to lose a Final, but once the disappointment lessens, I think Italy fans can look back and be satisfied with what they achieved at Euro2012. I agree with Bobo...with no Pirlo in our team, it will be very difficult for Italy to compete like they did this tournament.

I personally thought Prandelli mad a mistake today by taking off Montolivo. If he was going for a more physical player who was going to break up play, that's fine...but don't do it so early. Anyway, Forza Azzurri!

Prandelli said that he made the substitutions because he had to apart from di Natale which weas needed for tactical reasons. Montolivo was exhausted. He said Italy was very tired. He was very unlucky regarding Thiago Motta as was the player. Del Bosque also said that and that it was a turning point. Motta had come on against Germany without incident. Real pity as it ended match as a contest
I thought Italy was fantastic in this competition, but that Napolitano should simply have sent his congratuilations afterwards and not while they were preparing for the final. Maybe tell the players, but why make it public. It was like they thought they had already achieved all they could do. Prandelli denied it, but was that letter a distraction? He says they were just too tired. Good to see Prandelli got Italy to play his way and well. How much credit should be given to his spell at Fiorentina where these principles were honed at top level in Italy?

Fade out wrote:"Three of the four scorers from the best league in world."

And more importantly, three of the four scorers played for Valencia, where they obviously learned to become world beaters (Silva, Alba and Mata). cheers

DEL BOSQUE OUT!!!!! wrote:Well, well, well...

I could say fuck all the haters.

I could say fuck everyone who said Arbeloa was shit.

I could say fuck everyone who said Xabi Alonso was ruining the greatest midfield in the history of football.

I could say fuck everyone who said Spain could not win with a false nine.

I could say fuck everyone who said Spain are boring.

I could say fuck everyone who said DEL BOSQUE OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grr

But nah. That is not my style. On this historic day I would just like to say:

FUCK PROGRESS! ok

P.S. Best wishes to the Italy/Serie A contingent. Bad luck with the injuries but I think the Azzurri can be proud of the tournament they made after nobody really gave them a chance. Ale

Laughing Ale

Cesc Fabregas' inclusion was actually a touch of genius from Del Bosque, as he was able to comfortably drop back and do a great marking job of Pirlo from what I saw. Pirlo couldn't play in that deep position infront of his back four that he did to such great effect against Germany and England

Had he started with Torres/Llorente/Negredo I expect Pirlo would have naturally found more space to operate in that space than he did, given natural strikers are generally not very familiar with such a defensive role.

No team is actually better set up to play Italy as a result than Spain with a false nine and high pressing game.

Stop Pirlo, you stop Italy. Everyone knows/knew this, only Spain managed it.

Del Bosque out? Grr

It's a pity you splastics cannot understand the difference between club football and national teams.

The national teams represent the country, if you are English as you claim to be, then England represents you whether you like it or not.

The Spanish can say "we". You should just fuck-off as you promised to do after the Euros

They all have a German passport and whatever we think about their right to play for Germany, they least they have some connection to the country.

As TRWP mentioned just because you ate at Nandos once, doesn't give you a link to Spain. I have always liked Brazil, but it doesn't mean I have won 5 world cups, as I am not Brazilian.
