I definitely agree about Modric he has to play. He is getting better and better each game, his performance in Istanbul despite the result was fantastic IMO. Starting to see a bit of the real Modric now. He is more confident and comfortable in the team now I think. I would play him ahead of Kedhira aswell, nothing against Khedira though, I think he has been one of our better performers this season especially earlier in the season when everyone was having a nightmare.

However I'm not really glad to get any team at this stage any of the teams is going to be difficult, admittedly Bayern would have been much more difficult for us than any other team. Our performances against Dortmund in the group stages don't give me much confidence despite the fact that was during our worst form of the season. We have to have two very outstanding performances to go through.

You're right that at this level you just need to deliver. But as you said we were in bad form at that time and Dortmund are much better known now so there is chance they will underestimate them. Didn't see the Gala game so didn't see Modric but found this video:

Big rumour in AS today is that Florentino met with Paul Pogba's father (agent). He is pursuing this signing on the recommendation of....Varane. Laughing

Marca running a story that came out of O Jogo saying that we are going to bring back Garay next summer. Erm

Now today a new rumour: it's not Pogba, it's Kondogbia - the OTHER new Vieira. Laughing

Kondogbia and Varane actually are mates because they both come up in Lens together. Kondogbia has a buyout clause for 20m and you know Sevilla won't let him go for less than that. Haven't seen much of him this year tbh. Anyone else seen him play?

Preseason details being released for next summer already.

Going to do two preliminary stages in Turkey and Sweden in July before heading to America in August where the team will play 4 friendly matches. Then back to Spain for a possible friendly with Oviedo, Trofeo Santiago Bernabeu and possibly the Supercopa.

It's getting comical. So Jose was at his kids football club (Canillas) the other day to give a coaching seminar and now the president of Canillas has come out saying that Jose told him he won't be able to give the seminar next year because he is leaving Madrid. Laughing

Sounds like Carvajal is definitely returning next season which is great news. Leverkusen paid 5m euro for him last summer, the buy back clause is 6,5m. But apparently Leverkusen are interested in Cheryshev (to replace Schurrle) so they may be willing to accept the russian as partial payment. There is also a possibility that they could wave part of the fee if we send Jese on loan for next season.

El Larguero also reporting that only one of Benzema and Higuain will be back next season. As if this was not blatantly obvious. Cavani's father has come out saying that there is interest from Real Madrid, City, and Chelsea and that it will be up to the player to decide where he wants to play.

Racism against non-spaniards is so passé.

Gundogan wouldn't be a bad choice except that Modric is finding his feet finally so I don't see the point. Our job should be to find somebody who can compete with Khedira who is capable of moving the ball around. I would very much like for Guardiola to pull a Yaya Toure on Javi Martinez.

Cavani should be the goal although Napoli will rip us apart in negotiations. He would be well worth it. A hardworking player who is willing to work on the flanks(make up for certain lazy wannabe strikers). Otherwise we should go after Suarez. We are more likely to get a good deal than with Cavani.

It's strange that in the era of the greatest amount of Spanish football talent, Real Madrid hardly have any Spanish players.

Madrid would have been better if they bought Javi Martinez instead of Khedira or Villa instead of Benzema for example.Maybe on their next spending spree they should invest in some of the best Spanish talent like Isco and Silva and with a new manager maybe they will start playing more progressive football, instead of this one dimensional counter attacking style what they play now. Which is a waste of the incredible amount of talent in the current team.

Very significant news: Real Madrid have become the most valuable club in the world knocking the club of the devil off their perch. Shocked

Barcelona in third, then Arsenal, Bayern, Milan, Chelsea, Juventus, Man. City, Liverpool.

* Barcelona make more money than the club of the devil and are projected to become number two. Shocked

Maybe it's true what people are saying. <Ale>

Interesting to hear Alonso's father come out and say that Xabi is 'waiting for certain things to happen' before he decides whether to sign a new contract. Money is not the issue. The rumour that I've been reading is that Alonso wants to be sure that Jose's replacement is not fatty Rafa. If Florentino decides to bring Benitez then Alonso is off. Anyone else and it sounds like Alonso will sign a two year extension.

Why would he think that things will be any different this time? He knows that he is near the end of his career. If Rafa comes and he believes that Rafa holds a grudge, or that he can't work with him, he has every right to look to move on.

Benitez wanted to push Alonso out because he had a bad season and he seemed like dead wood at the time. Instead Alonso reacted with his best season for Liverpool. A bad call in retrospect but it wasn't too unreasonable at the time.
Also there is no way Alonso would be pushed out by Benitez now no more than Ronaldo would be allowed to be pushed out.

Conclusion
Alonso=ass

Except that even after he reacted with a great season he still sold Alonso. But beyond that there was the incident where Benitez didn't want to release Alonso to leave the team for the birth of his child. I don't think Alonso has to worry though Benitez is an inept moron and he is Spanish so Florentino won't be signing him.

Alonso wanted out after Benitez pushed him out. I'm not sure Benitez wanted Alonso out after he performed well but it was too late by then. I'm pretty sure Alonso was pushing for the transfer in the end. I don't think Perez would be against Benitez except for his style of football. Other than that he is controllable and he would be much more low key in Spain compared to Mourinho.
