they realized that die Bundesliga is the league to BE right now

Oh dear...

Holtby has signed pre contract with Tottenham, joins in July on a free

www.tottenhamhotspur.com/spurs/index.page

Bundesliga wankathon on hold?

don`t expect too much from him, he is just 7-8 tier for germany Wink (khedira, schweini, bender, bender, kroos, götze, özil, gündogan)

you can compare him with kroos, he can play as 8 or as 10, he should become a complete package as midfielder

overall i like this transfer, good for both sides, one reason more to watch tottenham

BUT THINK ABOUT IT THERE IS ALWASY A BETTER PLAYER

He's only 22 though. Captain of u21s. Cannot be expected to walk into the German NT.

Besides, of course hes unlikely to be as good as Ozil, Kroos, Goetze: we (Spurs) are not Bayern or Madrid, for our current level just outside CL this is the type of quality clever signing that we can aim for.

I think Spurs will be good for him, and vice versa. Having Steffan Freund as our assistant manager helped his decision

Winter break finally over, Schalke - Hannover kicked off 10 minutes ago, still 0-0.

@Spurs fans
If you want to see Holtby in action, the official livestream is here:

http://live.daserste.de/de/index.html#programm

Not sure if it works outside of Germany though.

Schalke missing the spine of their team and it shows. Match started well but is a bit boring now.

If Holtby leaves in the winter, they most definitely need to invest in their team.

Out of nowhere really. Schalke had been disappointing so far.

Probably the sub zero temperatures aren't helping things.

I cannot see Levy sanctioning Holtby's move this winter - aside from the fact that it will cost us more money and he is a staunch Jew, he and AVB will be aware that the majority of January signings take time to settle.

There was speculation in the press that Spurs may want to sign him in the winter due to the Sandro injury. I agree that it wouldn't be ideal for all parties involved.

1-0 HT

Hope the second half will be much better.

Lovely assist pass with the outside of the left from Lewis.

He reminds me so much of Van Der Vaart, but with pace/stamina.

Holtby - Draxler - Tor!

A bit lucky though, due to the deflection before Hotlby got the ball. Great assist though.

2-0

Commentator just said again that due to Schalke being close to signing Bastos, Hotlby could leave them this winter, provided that Spurs are willing to pay.

Could happen I suppose, with Sandro out AVB might be tempted to use Sigurdsson as a makeshift utility DM as back up to Scott Parker, seems he's lost his patience with Jake Livermore.

Depends on whether Levy will part with the necessary additional cash. I'd welcome with open arms, however I would expect him to take some time to adjust. I presume he'd also be cup tied in Europe. Makes far more sense if he continues to help Schalke in the CL/Bundesliga and joins in pre season personally

I am actually more positive than I used to be at the beginning of the season. For some funny reason, Allofs leaving feels like a bit of fresh air that we most definitely needed. Sure, Schaaf is still there and we still have a long way to go, but I'm more optimistic now that in time, we can build a strong team again, concentrating on forming young players instead of paying high wages to saturated older ones.

Schalke really seem fragile mentally. They need an experienced coach who can give them self belief and stability.
