I suspect that he'd be a very very good 'false 9', too, but Allez disagrees with me on this.
Isn't his chances conversion rate is far from being good enough to play this role?

He played for Dortmund on that position a few times this season and looked excellent, very clinical, too. But he'd have to start more matches on that position.

Congrats Bayern Ale

Football is a game of 2 teams played over 90 minutes and at the end of the day the Germans win ok

Rumour has it that John Terry has been spotted in the crowd wearing a Bayern shirt, ready to climb the steps of Wembley.

ONE YEAR TOO LATE ROBBEN YOU c**t!

Blut is right, best CL final 90 minutes I've seen in a while. Shame Dortmund are going to get ripped apart in the summer. Won't see another German team challenge Bayern for sometime I feel.

Three finals in four years, can't say bayern don't deserve it. Just wish it had been last year

Probably the best CL final since Istanbul, Barca vs Arsenal had a nice drama ending to it, but with Arsenal playing with one player less for over 70 minutes game wasn't as fluid as today's one.

He's wrong about Götze.

Dortmund will be back, I'm sure of that. As long as Klopp works there, they'll be a force. Bayern had to win tonight, Dortmund didn't. Their time will come.

If Bayern win the Pokal, too, Pep will have some huge shoes to fill...

Not sure if some of you guys aren't overstating how close this was. Dortmund didn't sustain anything in the second half, relied on Weidenfeller as much as Bayern did on Neur, and really missed Gotze's evasive capacity. It actually sort of brought to mind the old Otto spiel about England's periodic intensity - when the game slowed (theatrics, time-wasting), Dortmund weren't equipped, and Martinez in particular stopped them from raising the tempo.

Richly deserved for Bayern, a real champion side, and they didn't even need to turn to their squad options. It's a CL outlier in that both XI's were 100% predicted then unchanged until the game was over. As well as the penalty, Dante played Kuba onside for his early chance - I'm sure he's as important as a presence as a player though.

Not if the other good team in Germany keeps buying their best players. Coffee

I thought on the balance of play, Bayern deserved the victory: Dortmund started really brightly, and could well have been ahead after the first half an hour; but once Bayern began to assert themselves Dortmund struggled against their pressing, and lacked the composure to slow the game down and retain the ball for spells higher up the pitch.

That said, I'd be hugely aggrieved as a Dortmund player or supporter given what I saw as an abject performance by the referee. It seems a good rule of thumb that withholding yellow cards results in a more even-tempered game, and obviously it allows both teams to keep eleven players on the pitch; but most of the rules are there for a reason and I thought Bayern should have had a couple of players booked in the first half, with Dante absolutely deserving a second yellow card for the foul that resulted in Dortmund's penalty.

In the end, whatever criticisms both players deserve, Ribery played an important role in Bayern's second goal, and Robben comes away with an assist and the match-winner.

If I'm not completely wrong, there has never been a treble winning team in Bundesliga history, not even in the Beckenbauer / Müller days. Have to do some research on that first though, because I'm not 100% sure.

I'm happy for Heynckes, but also for Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Müller and yes, Robben, too, after they came close so often and lost so tragically.

Müller is just 23 and has played in three CL finals.

It's a shame Pep didn't take on a more challenging role. He'd have to be a disgrace not to win it all next season with this side already built for him.
