Aresenal are thought to be considering making an offer for young Dutch midfielder, Jordy Clasie in the summer, according to reports in the Dutch media.

The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been given a transfer war-chest in the summer and the Frenchman is keen to bolster his squad in few areas and midfield department is one of them.

The Gunners are thought to be interested in Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini but the North London club are unwilling to activate his release clause and further his wage demands have put a question mark over the possible move, and Wenger is now looking for options elsewhere.

Clasie, the 22-year-old defensive midfielder, who has five international caps under his belt, had a terrific last season where he appeared 38 times for Feyenoord, scoring two goals.

Well, it is still unknown about Arsenal’s real interest in the player, but the youngster can be easily lured with the offer of a regular first team football and Champions League exposure.

He is often touted as the “next Xavi” while several Premier League clubs like Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur had been linked with a move for the Dutchman before.

Bayer Leverkusen have turned down our bid for Bender

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jul/01/arsenal-lars-bender-bayer-leverkusen

Apparently this was our second bid. Leverkusen have already sold Schurrle to Chelsea and don't need/want to sell, so unless the player himself makes the next move, that's it. Headline writers will be heartbroken over lost opportunties for puns. Rolling Eyes

Raphael Honigstein in his tweet seems to think that's it - that Leverkusen just will not sell, end of. Same with Capoue, apparently. We were turned down on the last day of the January transfer window.

I can understand the situation with Bender. They don't have to sell and have already lost two key players. Plus Bender has a contract until 2017. Capoue, however, is different. He doesn't play for a CL club and signaled his intention to leave this summer. If we bid right, we can get him.

In addition to Higuain, i'd like Jovetic, Lars Bender and a decent experienced stopper; still unsure on Cesar.

We could have something like this to start the season:

Szcz/GK

Sagna Mert Kos Gibbs/Monreal
Bender Wilshere/Ramsey
Walcott Jovetic Cazorla
Higuain

A much bigger threat all round ok

But ok, you're now forgiven. Yes, that would be a strong team. No Gervinho certainly helps

Higuain deal is dragging on and I have a bad feeling we are once again haggling over the price - Spanish press are apparently reporting RM 'playing hardball' and want more money, but I'd find it easy to interpret that as us offering £23m but baulking at £25m. There is every danger of gazumping from other big clubs looking for strikers (Chelsea, City, PSG etc). Rolling Eyes

The big stumbling block is Cavani. Florentino has suddenly become of the opinion that if the '9' from Uruguay is going to be sold for 63m euro, why shouldn't the '9' from Argentina be sold for a lot more than 27m euro.

The other issue is that Ancelotti actually seems to want to keep Higuain so he has been trying to convince el Pipita to stay.

Think this one is going to go on for a bit.

I won't be at all surprised if we bottle this one. I can't see anyone matching Cavani's prices for Higuain but someone is bound to offer more than £23m. It's bad news that Ancelotti wants to keep him Sad

I hope we have a plan B. If we do end up empty handed come end of August and  get the usual 'well Diaby will be back from injury and he'll be like a new signing' I'll kill someoneb:grr:

Right, nobody is going to pay 60m + for Higuain. But maybe Florentino (especially since it looks like all of the other targets are basically gone) will try and hold out for 35-40m?

The Times and Telegraph both reporting that we had a £30m bid rejected for Suarez last week. Conspiracy theorists are saying that it's to force Madrid into selling us Higuain as Suarez is a target for them.

30 million is pretty insulting Very Happy try adding another ten million or Walcott to the deal.

It would be silly if Suarez moved to another club in England as his wife would still be photographed shopping and he would still be called a racist cheat.

I don't think we really want him to be fair. Higuain is the one we want but due to Perez being a twat with negotiations, we're trying to call Madrid's bluff by putting in a bid for Suarez as he's a Madrid target.

I really can't think Suarez is a serious target for us. We've bought players with issues before (Van Persie, for one, who was practically kicked out of Feyernoord) but his case is too extreme. I'd tend to agree with the theory that we're calling RM's bluff too.

Pretty much. Suarez is a target for them as they've missed out on Falcao, Lewandowski and Cavani (looks to be heading to PSG). We're just trying to call their bluff here Ale

Liverpool invested £22mil in Suarez so a 33% mark up after 2.5 years of high-quality performances (when he hasn't been acting the douchebag) isn't going to cut it, if Arsenal are serious of course, which I doubt.

The problem is for Liverpool that they need to how much profit can they expect to make on a player that's been suspended for a combined 19 games for acting the douche.

If anything, they overpaid Ajax for him, when you consider the disciplinary problems.

I have a feeling Wilshere will start to play as the 10 next season. Still not convinced by him there, but I guess AW feels him and Ramsey challenging for the same spot is counter-productive.
