Guess that's the Real Madrid way of looking at it.

Milner may be a kind of depressing player, but I thought he was great today too. A spell where he drifted to the right was the start of City getting into the game, he did his running about, played a good crossfield pass to Navas and had a decent shot in the first half, linked with Silva, held the ball up under a lot of pressure from Lahm two or three times, took his goal well. There was that moment at the end when he was dumb to foul Lahm, but otherwise excellent.

Thiago at DM used the ball well and really didn't limit Silva. I've not seen Silva play centrally for a while (let alone centrally and effectively) but clearly Pellegrini was banking on the absence of Martinez and other CL teams will be tempted to go for a star in that position. Bayern got off the hook with how bad City's second choice defenders are.

On-topic, seems astonishing, almost disturbing, that Pellegrini and his players hactually didn't realize they only needed the one more goal for the 4-2 and the group win (hence subbing Silva off then Dzeko for Rodwell) Doh Yikes

aye, they'll be feeling proper stupid if Bayern get Olympiakos and they get Real or Barcelona. not that they necessarily would have got a 4th, but they had nothing to lose by going for it.

But is it really a suprise? This has been coming for a while, the Serie A is outdated, the believers, fans and progress lovers will tell you otherwise. But it's not a top league for years now.

Nontheless. I hope Milan will win tonight and that we will see

true enough. haven't had a semi-finalist in either competition since Inter won CL.

Europa League final is in Turin this year, so good motivation for Juve to take it seriously. hasn't been an Italian finalist in UEFA/Europa this century!

Look who's talking Razz

Yeah, most Serie A fans I know also agree that it is not a top league anymore. The UEFA ranking does not lie. But to put it in context, Eredivisie would still find it hard to compete with Serie B! Razz

With only strong group winners we get at least one big match in the next round.
ManCity vs either of Real, Barca, Atletico or PSG
Dortmund also having a hard task if they qualify

So bizarre when you think about how in the late 80s/early 90s the UEFA Cup seemed to be Serie A property. I was just looking and between '88 and '99 there was at least one Italian in the final every year except one!

Eredivisie is higher then the Serie B, and considering the ranking doesnt lie.....Very Happy

Still, I guess its a sad story.

That if Dortmund win and the c**ts win, for the first time in history, not a single Italian team makes it to the next round.

It's very embarrassing for Conte to get knocked out by that euro loser Mancini. He really needs to dump the 3-5-2, it has failed in the CL.
