He did headbutt him, but it was a massive over reaction from Vertonghen.

fuck this sport... pussies decide games.

Football could adopt a LOT of the rules found in ice hockey... this shit makes many of those who play football look like queers.

I'm not sure there was enough in the headbutt to warrant a red card regardless of whether it was provoked; but it is absurd to countenance the Dnipro player receiving a worse punishment than Vertonghen for that incident, never mind him receiving a red card and Vertonghen being allowed to escape entirely unpunished. Vertonghen was the aggressor twice, and then cheated for a third time in his reaction. Dawson's foul a minute before the final whistle was also more worthy of a red card, if the game is to retain any sense. The only rules football seems to adhere to, on and off the pitch, are these ridiculous, amoral concerns regarding abstracted violent behaviours - it seems to be roundly accepted now that if you move your head towards an opponent, or happen to move towards an opponent with your two feet first, then you fully deserve to be sent off regardless of force, contact, and context.

Fully agree: for me the pictures are inconclusive, but Vertonghen appears to initiate the contact, and it is entirely possible that he actually (voluntarily) touches the Dnipro player's inclined head himself and then falls over as if shot.

It might be a small "headbutt", but I can't be sure even of that. I don't see how it's a crime to slightly bow your head towards an opponent. Unfortunately, the fact we can't be sure makes it impossible to sanction the Spurs player for his wretched simulation which puts the constant complaining about diving into perspective.

Vertonghen, not for the first time, looks an utterly contemptible, loathsome rat. This kind of stuff makes modern football really depressing.

ok
The head to head thing can be so arbitrary at times. On occasions the ref will simply tell players to knock it off, or give both a yellow or just give a red to the player who was the least dramatic of the two.

This, from the guy who claims this man is some sort of haBhtag legend Rolling Eyes

(0.30 onwards is still such a legendary example of cuntery)

If you're going to think Van Persie is a legend cos he's Dutch (he rapied someone), Lehmann's a legend for being 'kooky' (read 'being a consistent twat'), Suarez is a legend cos he plays for Liverpool (and hates blacks), then please spare the Vertonghen outrage.

And for the record, that was an enormously cunty thing that Vertonghen did, but if you're going to criticize, at least don't be a hypocrite about it. Thanks Ale

I can't be arsed to watch those videos of Lehmann even if I were in a position to right now; everyone knows he was a bit of a troll on the pitch, depends how seriously you take it. Before last week's event I had no strong opinion on Vertonghen at all.

I don't really need lecturing on where I need to draw the line between cockishness and cuntishness, thanks. We should be able to disagree like adults.

You'd do well to stop following me around and seeking offence everywhere; some of your recent pieces of "banter" would be more appropriate to someone half your age.

Following you around? You mentalist.

The use of the term "you" in my last post was as a generic frame of reference, confusing perhaps but unless YOU really do love Suarez and Van Persie then Shirley my OUTRAGE (LOOK HOW OUTRAGED I AM) was clearly not directed specifically at you, although your gross double standards do make me want to become terminally offended to the point that I write the internet a strongly worded letter for not taking immediate action.

Following you around. Chortle.

I hadn't seen a Spurs match at any length for a while but what has happened to Lloris? He's shambolic at times.

Sherwood looks like he's on a verge of a breakdown.

He's basically the English Di Canio, anyone that thought he was going to beat a really good side in Europe over 2 legs though is deluding themselves, these are the most tactical games in the sport.

He's been like this for absolutely ages. Since the start of the season at least. I did point it out.. But the argument was made that he saves more points than he loses doing that keeper sweeper shit. I bet his defenders have no trust in him though. He's a fool.
