Platini wants to invite Argentina and Brazil for the Euros!

So basically we get a world cup without the shite!! And no influence from FIFA...

Good idea or not?

That's a horrific idea. lol!  It would be like darts where there is 2 world championships, and both competitions end up devalued because of it.

The euros are getting devalued anyway, thanks to more teams. So why not have a Euro+former colonies, we can basically invite anyone we want Very Happy

bad idea

the charm of the Euros is that small countries like Greece have a realistic chance of lifting the Cup

if you start thinking of "inviting" teams to Cups to make them more attractive

it would be wise to give a wild-card to England for Brazil 2014

I think it's a great idea!

This way FIFA gets it up the bum! I would love if Blatter will still witness the decline of the Fifa world cup.

Besides...imagine this tournament:

Group A: Brazil, Belgium, Holland, Russia
Group B: Spain, Italy, England, Peru
Group C: Argentina, Portugal, Russia, Germany
Group D: Netherlands, France, Croatia, Czech republic

Surprised

The world wants a World Cup without the shite, not a competition held in Europe with the two best teams in the world (Brasil and Argentina) in addition to six good European teams and a lot of shite!

The solution is so simple mes amis! but Europe believes they have the best teams in the world (NOT TRUE!) that's why they send all their teams to the World Cup.

Automatic entries to a legitimate World Cup.
CONMEBOL: Brasil, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Chile.
UEFA: España, Italia, Deutschland, France, Portugal, Russia, Belgium, Nederland, Croatia.
CONCACAF: USA, México, Costa Rica.
AFC: Japan, Australia, South Korea.
CAF: Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Nigeria, Cameroon.

That's TWENTY FOUR automatic entries distributed with common sense among all the regions from the world based on strength of their respective football and number of countries in each federation/association/confederation.

The wild cards shall be as follows...
CONMEBOL: Perú, Ecuador, Paraguay.
CONCACAF: Honduras, Panamá
AFC: Iran, Uzbekistan PLUS New Zealand
CAF: Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Senegal
UEFA: Sweden, Denmark, Turkey, Ukraine, Poland, Switzerland, Greece, England.

Since a World Cup is tired of seeing all those counter-attacking minnows just making up the numbers in the competition, they shall play against each other first!

Thus, the surviving FOUR 'park-the-bus' experts get to join the wild cards from CONMEBOL, CONCACAF, AFC, and CAF already mentioned to show off their barnacle qualities in a 'Pre-World Cup' of SIXTEEEN teams; the format will be four groups of four with the top two from each group advancing to the big show.

At this point, FIFA will probably use their rankings to name the seeds: Perú, Ecuador, Switzerland, England.

1) Perú, Sweden, Tunisia, Iran
2) Ecuador, Ukraine, Egypt, Panamá
3) Switzerland, Honduras, Senegal, Uzbekistan
4) England, Paraguay, Algeria, New Zealand

Teams in bold will most likely qualify and join the already waiting 24 teams in the World Cup.

Straight forward format, and it is JUST!

This is nice of Puro. It removes the hassle of qualifying for the World Cup. If you could just tell us who wins, it would mean we don't have to bother with the whole thing.

Another idea by Platini / UEFA:

Uefa explores internationals shake-up with Nations League plan

• Idea for league competition to replace friendlies
• Body wants to make international football more attractive
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/oct/10/uefa-internationals-nations-league-friendlies

Not sure what to think about it. Getting rid of the friendlies and implementing a 'league' instead? Hmm...

Sounds very interesting. Platini is a cock, and UEFA are c**ts, however they are still better then FIFA.

And when you think about it, it makes sense to safe international football, cause 3-6/7 genuine competative games in 2 years is not enough.

The countries named in the 24 automatic entries to the WC were just examples. The allotment of places for the WC proposed is fair including how the playoffs should be organized for the final eight teams entry into the WC.

first question i would like answered is why is england in division 1.

seems just a unwarranted middling from Platini, friendlies aren't perfect, but this would just make qualifier games less interesting

Surely your question should be why are Portugal in division 1?

I prefer the idea of inviting Germany and Italy to play Copa América in South American soil.

For years I've been hearing that there are no small nations anymore..yet look at the amount of goals the 'big' teams conceded....hardly any!

Time to get rid of the qualifications as they are now!

Spain would be too easy. We played them in Brazil twice in official games: 6-1 in 1950 and 3-0 this year. ok

Uruguay, Argentina, Italy and Germany are certainly harder opponents for Brazil.
