Mercado de invierno 2014

Post by Jaime on Thu Jan 02, 2014 3:29 am

Well, a couple of confirmed signings (Jose Sosa - Atletico, Ruben Vezo - Valencia) although I don't really expect any Spanish club to make big waves in January.

Although, Jose has said Mata can leave if he wants, no shocker there. But it really sounds like Atletico are going to make a push to sign him.  affraid

Couple of other semi-interesting rumours:

*Betis going for Wilson Palacios. Didn't know he was still playing.

*Malaga trying to get Kevin De Bruyne on loan from Chelsea. They could do with a bit of quality these days.

*Manucho could be leaving Valladolid (still trying to score the 40 goals he promised when he arrived) to go to Mexico. Nobody but Glenn will care.

*Since el Tata hates all canteranos, it looks like Tello is going to head to Liverpool and Montoya is probably leaving too (now or in the summer) and is being linked with Liverpool and Tottenham plus his agents says that three Italian clubs want him.

*VALDES SELECCION is officially free to negotiate with clubs. So Zubi has tied up Ter Stegen it seems.

*Fucking Southampton want to sign Carlos Vela from Real Sociedad. Grr

*Hedwiges Maduro looks to be going to PAOK. Not official yet. Can't believe such a shit player hung around for so long.

*Villarreal being linked with Alfred Finnbogason. :?:Fey????

The problem as I see it with Mata to Atletico is that Diego Simeone would have the same problem with Mata that Mourinho has. Simeone demands his attacking players work a lot defensively and so far Mata has not been willing to do that. Also Atletico would have to play him on the wing or instead of David Villa.

Simeone is not as stringent I don't think. For example, Simeone was ok with Cerezo signing Diego (Wolfsburg) last summer and he does exactly zero defending. Of course it didn't work out but I think Simeone would accommodate Mata alright. Plus he does'nt hate Spaniards like Jose which is the primary reason Mata is on the bench.

A lot of rumours out of Valencia. They really want a forward. Jonas has been pretty good but after him the second leading scorer is Ricardo f*cking Costa. Doh

Three names out there so far: Eduardo Vargas from Napoli, Felipe Caicedo from Lokomotiv Moscow, and Iago Aspas from Liverpool.

Pizzi wants Vargas but Napoli are asking for a lot of money for just a six month loan (the player had been on loan at Gremio). Caicedo has wanted to leave Russia for a while but again Lokomotiv are asking for a lot and only want to sell the player outright. Aspas is not really in Liverpools plans it seems and Valencia were interested in him last summer so that seems like it could be a good fit.

In other news Canales wants out. It's a shame the turn his career has taken but he is still quite young to turn it around. Basically Pizzi told him he is second choice and so he wants to go. Not sure which team would have him at this stage. Would almost have to go abroad I think unless someone like Villarreal or Sevilla were interested.

I Mourinho doesn't like for the stated reasons he has given indirectly. He simply doesn't fit into his system. Maybe he could have tested him as a striker but other than that I don't think it is down to being anti-Spanish.

I don't get why Simeone would want Diego or Mata. Neither fit into his system. Mata is not a tough tackler or a good presser nor a great counter attacking player. Mata would have to play as a striker next to Costa which he could make work for him because he has always been unique among Spanish Am's in being clinical and good off the ball. However it would diminish his creative ability. Beats sitting on the bench at Chelsea though. It would be a statement of intent for Atletico and certainly help lift their reputation in Europe. Atletico's great strength is their focus on their rigid organization and they should try to retain that rather than chasing famous players. Perhaps a loan for 6 months and then they might sell Costa in the summer and could then change things around. In the meantime they can test Mata for 6 months while they have a great player for league+cup games who can get accustomed to the team. Atletico can benefit from the fact that no other top club in Europe really has room for him.

Finnbogason is allright, though there have been too many failed Heerenveen strikers already. Also some good ones, but dont think he is suited for La Liga.

I read that Simeone might go to Inter and that Atletico might go for Koeman or de Boer.

Not a suprise, since they are two highest paid players at Mestalla Smile. I remember Jonas having acquired very cheap when he joined Valencia, so his high salary shouldn't be an issue, But Costa?  Doh

And Villarreal fans really want their club to sign Finnbogason, because all their forwards seem to be very similar to each other. So him "not being suited to La Liga" actually is considered a positive.

Lots of "salidas" pending...

*Perotti probably on his way to Werder Bremen for 1,5m.

*Guardado going to Leverkusen on loan to the end of the season pending a medical.

*Helder Postiga who has scored a whopping 4 goals in 23 matches will move to Lazio. Loan with an option to buy, I believe.

*Ever Banega (aka WPOTY) being linked heavily with a move to English giants Sunderland. Erm

*Valencia, realising they'd made yet another shit signing, are loaning Dorlan Pabon to Sao Paulo for like the next three years.

*Cristian Tello has an offer from Arsenal although unlikely he will leave mid season.

*Casemiro has a lot of possibilities of going on loan at Porto for the remainder of the season.

*Ancelotti saying that Coentrao will stay now, but still lots of rumours that he could yet move to Man Utd or Milan this January.

Apparently Valencia are signing Keita who apparently got bored in China.

Don't think anyone expected this kind of shakeup in January from Valencia. But obviously the team they put together in the summer was never going to be very competitive.

IN: Rúben Vezo (Vitória Setúbal), Eduardo Vargas (Napoli - loan)

OUT: Sergio Canales (Real Sociedad), Andrés Guardado (Leverkusen), Éver Banega (Sunderland?), Hélder Postiga (Lazio), Dorlan Pabón (São Paulo)

It leaves a very thin squad, especially in midfield, but it looks like they are going to try some more of the kids from here until the end of the season.

Goalkeepers: Diego Alves, Vicente Guaita
Defenders: Antonio Barragán, Juan Bernat, Ricardo Costa, Jérémy Mathieu, João Pereira, Víctor Ruiz, Rúben Vezo
Midfielders: Fede Cartabia, Sofiane Feghouli, Javi Fuego, Seydou Keita, Míchel, Dani Parejo, Oriol Romeu
Forwards: Paco Alcácer, Jonas, Eduardo Vargas

Just seen too that they are trying to get either Vucinic or Pablo Osvaldo on loan from Juve or Southampton respectively. Sounds like Piatti could yet leave this transfer window as well.

Surprisingly there is quite a lot of action. Nothing big of course but here is the summary so far:

*Íñigo Pérez has returned to Athletic, he was on loan at Mallorca but Athletic have recalled him for the remainder of the season.

*Jeffren, ex-Barcelona canterano, has had his contract with Sporting CP rescinded and is looking like he will sign with Valladolid.

*Banega who had been linked with a move to Sunderland and then yesterday with Atletico Madrid, is apparently close to a move back to Argentina on loan with Newell's Old Boys.

*Valencia have signed Brazilian striker Vinicius Araujo (never heard of him).

*Atletico Madrid have signed Diego Ribas on loan until the end of the season. There has been a lot of back and forth between Atletico and Wolfsburg over the last couple of seasons regarding Diego but it looks like this is happening.

*Rayo have signed Italian forward Samuele Longo who had been on loan at Espanyol last season.

*Atletico midfielder Josuha Guilavogui looks like he is going back to St Etienne on loan until the end of the season.

*Espanyol have sold french winger Thievy to West Brom for 4m euro.

*Villarreal have sold Hernan Perez to Olympiacos for 2,5m euro. He was kind of a big deal a couple years back but he's never really panned out.

*Malaga have signed a couple more players Oleksandr Yakovenko the Fiorentina winger comes on loan and they have signed Ezequiel Rescaldani 21 year old striker from Velez Sarsfield.

Reports coming out that Valencia have secured Nicolas Otamendi on loan for the rest of the season. If they can get Victor Ruiz back from injury their backline might be half way decent.
