Modric makes the goal though, great interception to break up the Dortmund attack and then a lovely little pass to put Ronaldo in.

Illarra coming on. We need someone to settle the midfield down right now, a little to helter skelter so Illarra should help.

Ronaldo off. He even asked to be taken off....that's not a good sign.

they should drop him for CL games, especially because it forces Cavani to play on the right.

For Stamford Bridge they should play:

Jallet Silva Alex Maxwell
Verratti Matuidi
Lucas Pastore Lavezzi
Cavani

German A teams are overhyped, perhaps... have yet to see their B teams get that much credit, though.

Still should have done better in Madrid... black guy with goofy haircut really is a terrible finisher, belongs right at home in Dortmund.

Which "EPL" team was expected to win the CL?

Serie A must really be on the decline if you're taking the credit for players who formerly played in the league  Laughing

Ronaldo (in the quarterfinals) equals Messi's record of most goals in one CL campaign with 14. Guess that's one little Leo won't have much longer. Ale

Chelsea had 2 shots on target the whole game, PSG had 3

There really wasn't much to choose between the 2 teams, chelsea had the better first half, psg the better second, but neither was much better than the other. The pastore goal put a bit of a shine on the scoreline, but both teams seemed to have accepted a 2-1 scoreline with 20 mins and neither pushed too much.

Chelsea was clearly missing a quality striker. Oscar won the penalty but did little else while he was on, I might put him in my CL team of the season Wink

I get that you're not always the brightest star in the firmament, but did you really expect Dortmund to compete with this Real team in the Bernabeu with five/six of their best and most important players out?

They were deservedly the second best team in European football this time last year. Four of that team started yesterday. Sad, but such is modern football. I actually think with an impossible injury situation they've performed creditably – quarter-final of the CL, should still make second in the league and still in the cup.

For Schalke and Leverkusen I make no excuses, but no one hypes them (I hope).

Makes me laugh The Special One moaning about having no strikers. We won the cup with Baros up front ffs. If he was really so special he'd be able to do a bit better with the likes of Hazard, Oscar, Schurrle and Ramires in your team. No one forced him to sell Mata which still seems utterly fucking ridiculous. He has 3 strikers, yes they're all average to shit but if he was really special he'd be able to get the best out of them. Persisting with Torres over Ba is baffling for example.

Sounds like a spoilt kid and he looks a mess.

I wonder if next, Jose will try to argue that making the 1/4 finals of the CL is the same as winning a trophy.

It's bullshit. Ba has played just 535 minutes this season and has 5 goals, but he's not enough of a superstar for Jose. People talk about the foolish decision to loan out Lukaku, but I would say Ba is the better player and he's sitting right there on the bench.

I would disagree and say Lukaku has many more strands to his game but Ba is probably a better finisher when he's confident and starts every game.

Torres is just plain shit. He has one good game in 15. Remarkable how managers keep faith in him, he must be brilliant in training.

Blanc going to play into Mourinho's hands?
http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1778216/laurent-blanc-psg-sit-champions-league-quarterfinal-lead-chelsea?cc=5739

Surely having an open game is not good for psg, as it means more goals. A cagey 1-0 loss would work for them. If they are attacking and chelsea score on the counter, I can see them getting very nervous as a single goal could see them out.
