What about "Suarez has always wanted to play for Barcelona":
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2666163/Luis-Suarez-dreamed-playing-Barcelona-says-former-Ajax-team-mate.html

What? Even last season when he wanted to leave for Arsenal?

The latest news and gossip!

*Denis Cheryshev is going on loan to Villarreal.

*Casemiro is going to Inter Milan. 5m euro with a buyback clause of 6m over the next two seasons.

*AS are reporting that Barcelona have agreements in place to buy Luis Suarez (70m) and Marquinhos (40m). Meanwhile there is a huge fight because Zubi wants Ter Stegen to be the goalkeeper while Luis Enrique seems to prefer Claudio Bravo.

*Sergi Gomez signs for Celta Vigo. Always heard he was pretty decent but apparently the anti-la Masia rule is on!

*Deportivo have signed Roberto Canella on loan.

*Espanyol are most likely going to lose Hector Moreno after the WC. They are hoping to get at least 10m euro for the Mexican defender

*Apparently Unai Emery wants Iago Aspas. The club want to sell Bacca and obviously Aspas is not in the plans at Liverpool.

*Finnbogasen who had been linked with Villarreal for the longest time is set to sign with Real Sociedad. La Real is also close to bringing back Granero for another year on loan.

*Asenjo is officially a Villarreal player. He was on loan from Atleti last year and has now completed a permanent move.

Sammer has confirmed that Mandzukic to Atletico is a done deal.

Morata to Juve is confirmed.

Alexis to Arsenal is confirmed.

Not much else cooking at the moment. I suppose after the World Cup there will be a flurry of action.

Honestly Mandzukic worries me more than Diego Costa.

Yes, it sounds like Filipe Luis is a done deal.

Keylor Navas to Bayern for 10M Euros seems all but a done deal.

Tomás Peréz (Vice President, Levanté): “Navas is going to one of the best teams in Europe. He'll have tough competition in Neuer.”

Do you seriously believe that Pep wants to replace Neuer, the world's best footballing goal keeper, with a shot stopper like Navas? He'd be for the bench at the most, if this rumour is even true.

Re: Mercado de Verano 2014

So a few updates.

*As mentioned, Suarez to Barcelona is official. The most reliable sources that I have found are saying the base payment is €81m with up to €7m in variables objective-based payments.

*Isaac Cuenca who was released by Barcelona earlier in the week has signed for Deportivo.

*Getafe are close to signing Andres Fernandez. He's a really good goalkeeper. Was relegated with a really shit Osasuna side last term but I was really thinking he would maybe go to la Real Sociedad or some bigger team than Getafe. Getafe, of course, are trying to repleace Moya who went to Atletico.

*I mentioned above that Adrian Lopez has moved to Porto. Reports are that the transfer fee was for 12m euro. Not bad business that.

*And in spite of signing Moya, Atletico are still looking for a clear #1 for the goal. They are reportedly still trying to sign Jan Oblak from Benfica. They've also been linked, in the last week or so, with Guillermo Ochoa who would be available on a free.

*Atletico are negotiating with Benfica for Nicolas Gaitan. Trying to include Guilavogui in the operation.

*Busy days in the Vicente Calderon. They are also going for Juan Iturbe this Argie striker out of Serie A. Rumour is AS today is they are willing to pay 27m for him. Juve were also interested but perhaps now that they have signed Morata that will clear the way for Atletico. "Aguero-like" player I've heard.

*Sevilla are close to signing Grzegorz Krychowiak from Stade Reims. Apparently there is an "agreement" between Sevilla and the player's agent. Reims are asking for 7m.

*Venezuelan defender Roberto Rosales signs with Malaga from FC Twente. Never heard of him.

*Villarreal have been busy in the last week or so. They signed Jonathan Dos Santos from Barcelona. They've also signed Javier Espinosa who was in the B team as well. The other signing is Serbian defender Antonio Rukavina who came on a free from Valladolid.

*Still have no idea what is going on with Casemiro apart from the fact that he is definitely leaving. Sounded like there was a good chance he would go to Inter. Now it sounds like Benfica are in for him. Maybe that is what will happen because we have a "good relationship" with them after lots of players (Di Maria, Coentrao, Javi Garcia, Rodrigo, Ezequiel Garay, Balboa, etc.) going between the two clubs.

*Bizarrely, Javier Manquillo is going on loan to Arsenal. What a waste of everybody's time.

*Nicolas Otamendi is officially a Valencia player. Valencia bought his rights in the winter and then he was loaned to Atletico Mineiro I think.

*Finnbogasonto Real Sociedad is a done deal. Between 8-10m depending on variables.

*And finally, this one goes out to Kimbo! Real Madrid are considering a bid for....*ahem* DANNY WELBECK! With the departure of Alvaro Morata the club are looking for a young striker to backup Benzema. bounce

He loves players who can play football, and no goal keeper is a better footballer than Neuer. He actually needs a keeper like Neuer to play that ridiculous high line.

It's far more likely that he'll get rid of players he doesn't believe to be good enough from the footballing perspective, which makes the Kroos transfer even more strange. But Pep supposedly didn't want to sell him.

Pep's plan was to have Thiago take over from Schweinsteiger, and move Kroos back to the no.8, no?

Find it so weird that Kroos is leaving, like Muller I assumed he'd be at Bayern for life.

Unlike Müller, Lahm or Schweinsteiger, Kroos is not from the Bayern Academy and is not Bavarian. He joined the club at the young age of 17, was loaned to Leverkusen and came back. Many Bayern fans and the Bayern board never warmed to him. He is Northern German, Bavaria is like a different country, totally different mentality there. His "cool" northern character isn't really appreciated by many. Plus, his "patient" style of play isn't appreciated by many Bayern fans either.

Kroos demands were not outrageous - he basically demanded to earn as much as the other young players like Götze, having earned this after years of service to the club. The Bayern board apparently weren't willing to meet his demands.

Ahh that explains an awful lot. A similar situation to young David Beckham (southerner in Manchester) & young Michael Carrick (northerner in London) then.

Likewise Carrick, He's actually from the Newcastle area but he came up in West Ham's system, and he received way less love than he likes of Rio, Anton, J. Cole and Lampard (all genuine Londoners)

I mean in general, not just by fans but also media and those in the WHU hierarchy. Lampard was hated because the fans thought he was pushed forward due to "legacy" and family connections. Plus he was a public schoolboy.
