Having looked invincible just 12 months ago, Bayern have been pretty ordinary in Europe quite a bit this season. I suppose this result shouldn't come as a total shock.

Last-gasp equaliser in the UEFA Super Cup vs. 10 man Chelsea
Beaten at home by City
Unconvincing in every knockout match against Arsenal (until sending off in 1st leg) & United
And now an absolute spanking

Only the win at the Etihad was a real standout CL wise, in stark contrast to several dominant CL performances last season

Let's see if greatest manager ever Pep and his tiki taka football stays for a few more years

The more Bayern have become Pep's team, the worse they have played. Their best CL game was at Man City and that was still much more a Heynckes-style performance early in the year. Can't believe how he could take this team and make it look so mediocre. Shocking.

Thanks, Jupp, for last season. Might be a while for us to enjoy anything close to that again.

potentially the first manager to win 3 CLs, and the only manager other than Paisley if you count European Cups.

and if he faces Mourinho in the final they'll both be going for that record..

Really you'd think as soon as Real got to three he'd have just taken off the Alonso and Ramos..

Agree, but still it was very poor decision by Alonso, you would expect him to do much better than going for pointless sliding tackle when you are 4-0 up total.

I was more surprised to see Ramos starting 2nd half than him and Alonso not being taken off after 3rd goal.

I can understand him not wanting to change anything before half time, just cause you don't want to go and upset your team's organisation & concede a goal before the break, which would've given Bayern a crumb of hope.

but yeah it was a surprise Ramos wasn't switched at HT.

There was a huge one that could have been 1-1 at the end of the first leg....from Kroos maybe? But that's about it.

Ancelotti has never lost to Bayern.

Real Madrid win for the first time ever in Munich.

Ronaldo breaks Messi's CL record.

Still a possibility for the treble.

Tonight's game is going to be dismal. 1-0 to Chelsea probably, a few scuffles and that utter c**t of a man running onto the pitch and offering Costa a contract.

Not a fan of Ancelotti's playstyle, but he is a gentleman. If Maureen won 0-4 in Munich he would still be running around that place with his right arm raised.

Also props for Florentino Perez for selling Ozil, he effortlessly joined Arsenal in their annual 4th place celebrations, but Madrid didnt miss him at all it seems.

Sadly this is true, and it is fair enough for the jury to call time on this season.

Congrats to Ancelotti, Jaime and Super – it's all been said, but it's hard to imagine what Pep was expecting. Of course, what he seemed to have achieved for a lot of the season before things went downhill and complacency set in after securing the title in Berlin was the impossible of making the team even harder to beat while shoehorning more attacking players into deeper roles – but yesterday the omission of Martínez, to name only the most obvious error, just looked cocky and self-regarding. Too many players playing one stage deeper than their style of play would really justify. So obvious that you need a gameplan to deal with Madrid's incomparable counter-attacking riches, but no, of course Pep knows better. Maybe one of these days he can become less ideological and less dogmatic.

Superb from Madrid though – some comfort that I have a wedding to attend on the day of the final.

You'd hope Löw might draw some warning lessons from this, but it's hard to imagine that he'd know how to implement them, and it's not as if Germany really have a Martínez anyway.

If Chelsea-Madrid will be the final, I doubt many people are staying at home to watch it.

Many children around the world are allowed to stay up for a CL semi-final...and Maureen is gonna bore them to sleep nontheless.

Mourinho is so pragmatic but I actually can't quite figure this one out. Is he afraid of a 2 man attack and in reality playing 5 at the back? Is he expecting Atletico to attack and therefore playing Torres?

Either way Mourinho has a lot of respect and fear for this Atletico side which I understand. They seem to be as capable as Chelsea defensively and with as cohesive an attack on the counter and even more so in open play than Chelsea.
